liberty never did well with the transition from 90's to current drill routines, it seems that around 2002 it all started to change.....somehow it seems the team got lost. They have a tradition of being a great drill team and I know they will get back to that point again!
liberty used to be one of the best teams on marching precision...that's partly where all their legendary superiors came from. they also had pretty legit pom/drill moves, which were last seen in 2007, but it looks like they've dropped them now. i will say, those moves really only look great with a big, big team. sad, though. :-(
their free-hand drill looked a lot like hazen's, but LHS was more "hardcore" whereas hazen was a bit bouncier and campier... it was all good, though!
i know, i want liberty to go back to the way it was. Bigger drill team - not so cutsey moves. I want the old drill team back, the team that knew they were the shit and were the team to beat. I believe they can do it.
It might be asking a bit much for teams to completely revive the old drill, it was much slower than what kids are used to today, but some of the moves and concepts from 80/90s drill would still be very striking to watch, especially live. I remember LHS would make a diagonal line that spanned the entire court (36 members mind you) and snap their poms into a giant bell curve...awe-inspiring, truly.
The only way to get those moves back would be to first dig up old videos. Well I'm working on it!
I know! I dont expect them to. I just think Liberty should bring SOME old aspects back. Larger drill team is possible - much like newport or Shorewood. I wouldnt want them to have a blast from the past....but bring liberty back to what it was known for. They were the team that brought orignality to drill, they made up unique moves and patterns that really would put people in awe. I hope you can post old videos of liberty! I started in 1999...so ive been looking for a video of that forever!

very sharp. i have 2 agree it would look way better with poms, everyone was together, it was a good performance, but it was very plain and dull.
