Audi has a BAD reliability record. Corvette's record is SUPERB! Over 90% of ALL Corvettes built since they were introduced in 1953 are still in service. The same can hardly be said of the cheaply made Audi. Corvette never used slave labor from the concentration camps to stay afloat either. Audi, B.M.W., Mercedes, Porsche, and Volkswagon did.

The vette is cheaper to repair if it ever needs it. There is a reason why the vette has been going strong for almost 60 years. In america we don't care to much about all that fancy shit in our cars. We want a reliable car that wont cost a arm and a leg to repair or buy. Thats what American cars offer us Americans.

German cars are known to have very high quality materials. With that said, that doesn't refer to the engine, framework or under body of the vehicles. American cars are of much higher quality in terms of steel strength, safety, and corvette's brakes are close to the best in the business. Don't get me wrong, if I had enough money to buy either I would get the Audi based on the interior quality and shock factor of not seeing an R8 on the street everyday... not because it's a better car.
The Vette is not only faster, but it brakes, handles, and laps better than the Audi while getting better gas milage. Any reasonable person would buy a Z06 or a ZR1 and use the remaining $60 thousand you saved on buying a daily driver... like an Audi A6.

@Josh1901 Last time I checked, that issue only applied to Z06s made in 2006 and 2007. And it wasn't the roof itself that was the problem, but the roof PANEL and the adhesive used to bind it to the frame. There hasn't been a single issue of that sort with Z06s of 2008 and later.
Also, the number of incidents involving a Z06s roof panel coming off can be compared to the number of R8s that have caught fire(they ARE basically Audi-built Lamborghinis). Rare, yes, but it still happened.
@xiilazyalex The interiors of the Corvettes use a better grade of leather than does Audi. There's nothing "cheap" there. Corvette still uses fiberglass panels to save weight while Audi uses steel. The fiberglass is backed up by rigid steel protection on the inside that gives the Corvette protection that's equal to Audi. Fiberglass is more expensive to produce too. That German cars are somehow better, quality wise, is all a marketing illusion. 87% of ALL Corvettes ever produced are still in use.
Well you obviously answered your own statement, AWD is heavier than RWD, + the fact that the R8 is heavier than the Z06, which is where the extra 52 HP help to keep it up to speed..

@mrdoominik go to fastlaps.com and compare the 2 (i think the corvette is the 2005 model) the laptimes for each are surprisingly similar. the two cars switch back and forth on which posted faster times, but the gap is usually in tenths of seconds. like it or not, the new corvette is a very good car. the old ones were shit though.

The r8 is much softer while the corvette is much more "hardcore".

Audi has a BAD reliability record. Corvette's record is SUPERB! Over 90% of ALL Corvettes built since they were introduced in 1953 are still in service. The vette is cheaper to repair if it ever needs it. There is a reason why the vette has been going strong for almost 60 years. In america we don't care to much about all that fancy shit in our cars. German cars are known to have very high quality materials. With that said, that doesn't refer to the engine, framework or under body of the vehicles. American cars are of much higher quality in terms of steel strength, safety, and corvette's brakes are close to the best in the business. Don't get me wrong, if I had enough money to buy either I would get the Audi based on the interior quality and shock factor of not seeing an R8 on the street everyday... not because it's a better car.

There are the car guys like myself who love speed and power then their are ppl like you who would rather pay 75 grand on a car and lack performance. I work almost 60 hours a week but insurance for vehicles like these are high until you hit 25 years old so don't go judging me and putting in a low income class cuzs thats not the case. Your also prob well into your 30's and ur insurance is cheap compared to someone my age.

@67ShelbyMustang500 Luxury comes at a hefty price. Performance on the other hand does not. OF course I would judge performance-people at the low income class since performance doesn't come as expensive as luxury (Z06/ZR1 proved that).

Audi has ALWAYS had a reliability issue. They are over-priced pieces of grabage.

@Josh1901 Last time I checked, that issue only applied to Z06s made in 2006 and 2007. And it wasn't the roof itself that was the problem, but the roof PANEL and the adhesive used to bind it to the frame. There hasn't been a single issue of that sort with Z06s of 2008 and later.
Also, the number of incidents involving a Z06s roof panel coming off can be compared to the number of R8s that have caught fire(they ARE basically Audi-built Lamborghinis). Rare, yes, but it still happened.

@xiilazyalex The interiors of the Corvettes use a better grade of leather than does Audi. There's nothing "cheap" there. Corvette still uses fiberglass panels to save weight while Audi uses steel. The fiberglass is backed up by rigid steel protection on the inside that gives the Corvette protection that's equal to Audi. Fiberglass is more expensive to produce too. That German cars are somehow better, quality wise, is all a marketing illusion. 87% of ALL Corvettes ever produced are still in use.

Well you obviously answered your own statement, AWD is heavier than RWD, + the fact that the R8 is heavier than the Z06, which is where the extra 52 HP help to keep it up to speed..

@mrdoominik go to fastlaps.com and compare the 2 (i think the corvette is the 2005 model) the laptimes for each are surprisingly similar. the two cars switch back and forth on which posted faster times, but the gap is usually in tenths of seconds. like it or not, the new corvette is a very good car. the old ones were shit though.

@uummmnocoolnames It all depends on the track. On tracks with low speed the r8 is faster, however the vette is just as fast if not faster on high-speed tracks.
The r8 is much softer while the corvette is much more "hardcore".
However anyone with a brain would choose the r8 because it overall is a better car. But hell, that zr1 is one sick machine!!
