i'm routing to miss philippines from the very start but when i saw miss angola on the top 5 i predicted already that she will win the crown because of her black natural beauty...

This year miss universe result is WORSE ever ! CHINA should have win . She's incredible on stage and plan her answer out well . Short and sweet . Also the poverty factor also contributes when we think about the ways the virus is spread. @hung4325 , the q & a portion is not scored. The judges give each finalists a ranking after the final look. Some may have been swayed by the answers, some may not. I am sure each of the top 5 have at least one #1 vote, Angola happened to be the one with the most #1 and #2 votes and thus the lowest score, making her the winner.

They go on to say that they have no idea what the judges asked, and that they just gave any answer in Taglish and then crossed their fingers (they joked that it works in Manila).

Miss Angola is fantastic. She seems to be very nice in and out. I like the way she smiles, so perfect! She deserves the crown. As to Miss Philippines, she is elegant and smart. if the judging is done by the voting public, she should have won. But there are official judges who and their decision is final. We can't do anything about it. Let's just accept the result.
Well chosen. Miss Angola is really pretty from inside out from what I've watched the preliminary videos during their journey in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Good choice. Diversity is good and it should be respected. They're all pretty but only one should have the crown. Congrats to her, next year other countries will also have their chances. (Angola was a Portuguese Colony and it's located at the southern east side of Africa. official language, Portuguese).

I think it's not really about language. I've heard Ms Angola studied in the UK.To celebrate how diverse the modern world is, it's a must that someone speaks one foreign language. I believe speaks Portuguese.
Even though that English is not the national language in the Philippines but our contestants try hard to learn and speak it since it is the universal language now spoken without using an interpreter!!

I am convinced there is a segment of rabid Filipino fans who shared notes and cut and paste the same comments and post them everywhere. I watched Miss Angola veryyy closely and I believe she almost trip in the Preliminary show and when I watched her response. it was obvious she was trying to buy time in the beginning when she started speaking. idk but the whole time the interprator and Miss angola were switching turns to speak, it just looked a little messy
.......I think Miss Philippines should have been crowned Miss Universe 2011. Her response was the best out of all the other women. She's the full package. Brains and beauty. Very humble also. And I don't really trust interaprators much because they KNOW how to ad-lib reallllllyyyy well. They can make even an answer sound better and more sophisticated. Miss Philippines should have said along in her answer "I'M PROUD OF MY CATHOLIC RELIGION" instead of "THE PERSON THAT I LOVE MOST IS GOD". It kinda made her sound like a religious nun or nuthead. Very likely it did not ring well with the judges, so it does not matter if she's the only finalist who spoke in English. An answer like that will turn off some people, atheists and agnostics alike.

If she stated she was a "proud catholic", then people who are athiests and agnostic will be turned off. She didn't exactly state her religious belief, which is good. She had it all, charisma, beauty, stage presence, elegance, personality., poise .Any other night on any other moment anyone else could have won....Thats the way these pageants usually work out. The one who peaks with all of these elements at the right time wins.

@279arnold , yes, in the case of a Miss Universe who cannot speak English, she will be accompanied by an interpreter when it is deemed neccessary. Do you think any Miss Universe go ANYWHERE during her reign on behalf of the MUO ALONE and by herself? From all your other comments, you demonstrated a lack of knowledge of how the pageant picked its winner, what are the requirements and qualifications, and the accommodation and provisions MUO provide to its winners.

Not being biased here(I'm a Chinese-Filipina), but I believe that Ms Angola and Ms Philippines were the real competition here. I don't think Ukraine should've been in 2nd place, though I do like her dress. Shamcey had the best answer among the five of them, so shouldn't she have been at least 1st runner-up? This year miss universe result is WORSE ever ! CHINA should have win . She's incredible on stage and plan her answer out well . Short and sweet . Even in her preliminary many fan predict her as winner. ANGOLA answer is ` i'm endowed , i have internal beauty , god made me, my advice is... ' `ting!' Also the poverty factor also contributes when we think about the ways the virus is spread. @hung4325 , the q & a portion is not scored. The judges give each finalists a ranking after the final look. Some may have been swayed by the answers, some may not. I am sure each of the top 5 have at least one #1 vote, Angola happened to be the one with the most #1 and #2 votes and thus the lowest score, making her the winner.

Miss Angola is fantastic. She seems to be very nice in and out. I like the way she smiles, so perfect! She deserves the crown. As to Miss Philippines, she is elegant and smart. if the judging is done by the voting public, she should have won. But there are official judges who and their decision is final. We can't do anything about it. Let's just accept the result.

Well chosen. Miss Angola is really pretty from inside out from what I've watched the preliminary videos during their journey in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Good choice. Diversity is good and it should be respected. They're all pretty but only one should have the crown. Congrats to her, next year other countries will also have their chances. (Angola was a Portuguese Colony and it's located at the southern east side of Africa. official language, Portuguese).

Miss Philippines should have said along in her answer "I'M PROUD OF MY CATHOLIC RELIGION" instead of "THE PERSON THAT I LOVE MOST IS GOD". It kinda made her sound like a religious nun or nuthead. Very likely it did not ring well with the judges, so it does not matter if she's the only finalist who spoke in English. An answer like that will turn off some people, atheists and agnostics alike.

She had it all, charisma, beauty, stage presence, elegance, personality., poise .Any other night on any other moment anyone else could have won....Thats the way these pageants usually work out. The one who peaks with all of these elements at the right time wins.

Do you think any Miss Universe go ANYWHERE during her reign on behalf of the MUO ALONE and by herself? Not being biased here(I'm a Chinese-Filipina), but I believe that Ms Angola and Ms Philippines were the real competition here. I don't think Ukraine should've been in 2nd place, though I do like her dress. Shamcey had the best answer among the five of them, so shouldn't she have been at least 1st runner-up? But I agree that we should just be thankful that she had made it in the Top 5, and thanks to Venus Raj, we have 2 Top 5 wins in a row! I'm already feeling sorry for the next Bb. Pilipinas...

Philippines got ROBBED!!! She definately answered her question the best. Also, Angola was given a lot more time to answer her question!!! As in the Top 5, this is definately the most beautiful Top 5 since Miss Universe 1988!!! I cannot believe that Miss USA did not make it to the Top 10. She was definately great, bit she was not Top 5!

Miss Philippines got robbeddddd!!! -____- all the other 4 contestants had a bigger advantage cuz they had an Interpreter. I'm SURE these women know and understand at least a little bit of English!? The interpreters are good at what they do obviously. They can adlib and make theeee dumbest response sound more sophisticated. She should have won 1st place. She was confident and her answer was PERFECT.

angola exceeded time from giving her answer & the bell rang for her, she did not even finish her full idea, how come she will be crown as miss universe? isnt it that exceeding time is automaticaly a deduction from her points? oh no, i think that is a big question to the judges or to the organizers!!!

@sasunaru1997, Its not unfair. She won and we should just accept it. Next year better luck. Every one thinks their country should have won. Our miss Universe didn't even get in the top 16. But there is nothing we can do about it. You think that miss Philippines deserves the crown. But obviously the judges didn't. If she did, she would have at least end up with the 1st runner-up. Instead she got the 3rd even tho she answered her question in English.
