It's so nice to see how far you have advanced as a singer since this. No offense intended, but this sounds like shit compared to your newer tags. It's sort of hard to believe this was all two years ago.
Way cool - well done! I've always loved singing lead on this one with AoH. A few years back (2000?) I sang in a quartet with Kevin Keller (guy who arranged it). Looking in old Christmas music folder - (Here we go!), it says he arranged "O Come, O Come Emmanuel (Veni, Veni) " on 7/2/1991. Now you know, the rrrrrrest of the story. :-)
I just tried tracking this on my own and had never before realized just how COMPLICATED this tag is! So much shifting and harmonies going every-which-unexpected-way. All I can say is, you are very talented to be able to do stuff like this. =)
i love harmony....i can do a low c and a high c full voice...i`d love to give this a try...thing is how the hell do you do it...wot do i need to get started
I think the post length is OK, but there is something a bit different about the cord progression from 08 to 14. Not saying it was bad, but just different! Unusual, nice treatment of the song. Makes me want to hear the whole thing ! Best wishes and Merry Christmas!
No no, you're wrong! It IS bad! In fact, it's horrible! Althogh I made a recording of the entire song, and it's coming ot with my album! Make sure you're getting it!
I would like to second that; thank you again Finey, for glorifying The Reason for this season. May He bless you wondrously, just as you have wondrously blessed me (and others) with your exceptional singing and multi-tagging!
That's typical of Barbershop. You generally cannot easily pick out the Baritone from a properly tuned and balanced performance. The Lead is easy because it's the melody and thus familiar, and the Bass and Tenor because they're 99+% of the time the lowest and highest, respectively. But the Bari weaves in and out, above and below the melody.
That said, you can most DEFINITELY tell the difference if the Bari is MISSING! It's like a gaping hole in the harmony!
Besides, there aren't many pitch correcting programs nor boxes that know how to handle the precision adaptive, chord-and-scale-root-relative Just Intonation tuning that Barbershop uses. So-called "Pure Major" and "Pure Minor" microtonal scales need not apply. Neither need 5-limit nor 7-limit JI scales.
I don't know, it started with me singing in a classical male choir, and once I got asked if I wanted to sing some stuff in a quartet, and they showed me Sit Down, You're Rockin' The Boat... and after that I was sold...
I'm thinking about making a 12-track CD audio-only with entire songs. This will take me several days, maybe weeks of full time work in production, therefore I'm going to have to sell it. If I charged 15 dollars for this CD (payment via PayPal, delivery via mp3 internet transfer), would YOU buy my CD? Replying in ONE of my tags is all I need.
I think youd better make sure you can sell the album. It takes quartets a long time to get cd's ready to sell. You have to make sure you own the rights to all the songs your recording because if you dont, you could get into serious trouble.
its fine. You could do a cd for like a few friends and family. Or maybe, if your involved with a chorus, maybe you could put in a request to help sponser you in completing the cd.
No, I'm not... and recording one song almost takes an entire day, and even if it's fun and all, it's not fun to do for nothing... I'm thinking about getting a famous arranger to sponsor me with some cool arrangements, maybe new ones that never have been recorded... If they do, then I could sell the record =) I just wonder how hard it will be to find an arranger willing to do that...
now that i listen for it i can hear the tuning issue with the lead rejoice...thats ok though, ive listened to all your tags and they are practically flawless
wow. the tag sounds flawless. as far as your diction goes, the only thing i would suggest is on the final L, as in Israel, should be much lighter. when you make the L sound, put your tongue just behind your teeth, which makes it sound much lighter. great job.
haha thank you and all... One thing I just can't see with everyone is that you won't hear the falseness of the first rejoice part. I personally listen to my tags many times a day, but I can't bare listen to this tag because of this. In my opinion, the L in the end is the least of my concerns here, but yeah, you're right, I need to work on it...
Dude! that was amazing! I've been thinking about recording some songs singing all four parts myself... but I couldn't find any good way to do it. what recording program did you use? what part did you record first?
I recommend you to use Sony Vegas for the recording. It can record video sequences and mix them together very easily. If you don't have a cam that's compatible with live recording in that program, you could make the recording in a program such as Windows Movie Maker and then import them in Vegas. THen you'll have to sync them manually thoguh...
And in this sequence I recorded the lead first. After that, bari, bass and tenor. It's different every time though, I choose the order based on which tones each part has and which tones are easier to tune against eachother...
This was amazing! Brought a tear to my eye:)
