But like kadathdreamques commented, it doesn't sound like you pay for your bills, transportation and housing... maybe you picked the wrong subject to talk about, you're not involved in it at all - and good for you you see no recession around!!
The magnitude of the recession is known, but not released because it would scare the crap out of people who are still working.
Easily more than 15% in north america. Easily determined by the lower volume of traffic on the roads and highways near me (counting cars). Official figures put unemployment in my area at around 8%.
Well you're right about the known effects at present, but I meant in terms of how far-reaching it's going to be, which is more or less anyone's guess.
RECESSION RECESSION RECESSION RECESSION RECESSION RECESSION RECESSION RECESSION RECESSION RECESSION RECESSION RECESSION! yeah we say it waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much
That's the job of the media: making a bunch of bullshit and tweak it to make it blown out of proportion. It's why I stop caring for the news a long time ago...
Made up recession? Oh no, it's real but totally unnecessary. You can say it's totally made up when you have to pay the bills and have no income. You are 50% of the way there already (no income). Now try to pay for your bed, the roof over your head, transportation to work (no more easy school).....
The point the video makes is that the media makes the recession worse.
I love your accent & your hair its awesome and your so right about that, everyone is talking about it and worrying a lot, but for me it isn't as bad as they say it is.
honestly, i live in the USA and the recession (or "recission" lol) hasnt affected me at all. I know there are people getting layed off and theres alot of businesses closing but i dont think its been as bad as theyre reporting.
Definately. I think the united states is definately in one. There's no doubt about that but it's like the rest of the world were like OMG lets tag along too! I know the credit crunch in the US affects other countries but COME ON we don't rely on the U.S to survive, it's not AS bad as the newspapers drum it up to be!
that's a really good idea because I am an english major and can probably swing some opinions... im just wondering if the main stream media giants want things printed like that. the recession for what its worth has helped the newspaper and magazine news media industry boom and that's exactly where they want to be you know :)
while yes, the media plays a big part in controlling the less educated/informed, i doubt that they'd be able to scare employers into not hiring. All they hafta do is look at their books and go "hey, profits are up, we should expand".
i mean smaller business might shake in their boots, but any financially smart institution will not listen to media for spending tips, such as employment
Q: Is there a recession? A: The possibility definitely exists. Have you visited any of these 'tent cities' that have gone up all over the country as a result of individuals' inability to afford housing? However, I still have a job. Unemployment is up, yes, but not everybody is out of work. People are, yes, afraid to spend money, but it's largely because they're pumped full of fear by, you guessed it, a rampantly fear-driven media. Are times tough? Yes. Will we get through it? Also yes.
Morgan, either your just real dumb or just really dumb. The recession exists - the collapse of the american house market due to poor credit lending has wider ramifications for the world. Money has been lent that doesnt actually exist to people with no ability to repay - this has destabilised the economy as finally the poor actions of American banks has meant huge deficits in the world economy and a fear to spend or circulate money - THIS IS A RECESSION
Haha, thanks man! Sorry those were so long. It's nice to see someone from outside the US that doesn't think like the media, lol. =] Not that all people outside the US do, haha.
Actually something I should add is this: America's economy is getting worse because of the current administration which keeps taking control of more companies and then cutting numerous jobs so that they can control everything. And when people complain and the media talks about recession, it's always because of George Bush. Everyone thinks Bush is a criminal because all they ever hear is the slanted view of the media, and now he's their scape goat to get Obama all the glory and none of the blame.
Haha, actually I completely agree with you. The media does whatever they can to scare people into doing what they want or believing what they want and keeping them captivated because they have to hear the next big update on the Recession or whatever. They're also trying to get the people to think that they are going to fail at life without government help. Government will solve all your problems, give them more power! Socialism is good! It's a lot of BS if you ask me. Same reason gas prices goup
there is not a recession because the media says so. it is not a fictional situation. you seem to be completely unaware of socioeconomic factors that have contributed to the crisis, such as the housing implosion, the debt mismanagement and so on. if you think there is no recession and everything is fake then you sound like you live in your own little world, no worse than paris hilton or Marie Antoinette and her infamous "qu'ils mangent de la brioche".
really? ah... omg guess what.. im doing youtube full time from Monday till my law course starts on July 13th. I'm gonna make some mean as vidddsss wooooh. What you up to? Is it night there? OMG im so hyper atm!
the trigger of this econ recession was the banking sector+ the lack of available credit. businesses rely of capital in the form of loans+other sources 4 a variety of functions( too many to explain here)+ the disappearance of this captial has a knock on effect on other areas of the economy(as things are kinda related a little)ppl lose confid. in markets(which I give u is effected by the media sometimes)this effects sales revenue then effects businesses' av. expenditure causing job losses etc.
i dunno bout that, i agree that there is a bit of a snowball effect but things a SHIT in Ireland at the moment, Im actually genuinely worried about the welfare of the Irish at the moment, protests EVERYDAY, everyone losing their job, its not on boi. Ive heard from my family in NZ that its gettin quite bad there too but honestly, ireland is a complete hole at the mo, but it is more fun than it used to be !
I hear you loud and clear. I know that there are things going on here. My message isn't that there isn't any casuality, job losses, hysteria or devastation happening - it's that the cause of this is not an economic recession... it's a calculated effort by the world's top media congomerants to fulful some sort of twisted agenda all the way making heaps of money and setting up the world to begin a massive inflation boom just as 2010 starts.
you make a really good point actually. but uhh that's not gonna happen. haha. i think if we don't get out of this "recession" by christmas then things might get even worse.
I pretty much agree with you. The media makes everything worse. Half the time they just lie and cover up the truth. They just want to be in control of everything
Yeah! It might not be a huge evil effort but something has come along and started a global meltdown. The funny thing is that every week you get one report saying "economy looking good" and then the next week another which states "economic recession is worse than originally anticipated"
it's like... they're jerking people around and creating false hope or false fear or both and for what? To sell papers? To curb spending? To remove credit card debt? .... soooo interesting.
Yea, exactly! I'm also sick of people saying this is gonna be the next Great Depression. The people who think that must not know anything about the Depression. They are just trying to scare us so that we will do what they say.
The experts were saying my country, Canada, was sheltered from it but some of the media insisted on trying to drag us into America's recession, using the automobile industry as an excuse. So of course we started getting into trouble as well. :(
It isn't as bad as predicted though. We're already on the turn around and my community is still growing because the major employer is government.
Oh that's awesome ! I guess in some ways we have all been fuckn stupid with our spending and investing yknow so maybe a global wake up call was in order but it's been almost a year LOL time to let it go! :)
I wish they'd shut up about it as well. They're still complaining about it here, mostly because of General Motors (The goofs that recalled and destroyed electric cars, just for the hell of it)
oh yeah yeah thats so dumb. there were things like that in new zealand aswell like this guy who owned a company and he laid off all of the NZ workers but kept all of the foreign ones. Now because of him anyone who has a visa expiring has to wait 60 days for it to be approved OR DECLINED and therefore can't stay in work. Our GOVT hopes this will mean more work for NZers but it's a bit harsh coz i have friends who arent kiwis :(
Why hi there yes in fact your right :ok actually included that I'm myvideo but I re edited it so as not to be too much of a buzz kill haha - are people wearing gas masks near you ???
no they're not. i think the governments of the world go overboard with the flu thing because if they didn't and there were to be a huge outbreak, they would be blamed for that for sure. on another note, yes, there is a recession here in California and we have over 10% unemployment.
Oh awesome! Yeah my aunty lives in north ryde and she was saying it's all good she's still able to pick up extra hours too. Man I miss Sydney it's so cold here in nz I'm currently at a bus stop freezing my ass off LOL
