Made up recession? Oh no, it's real but totally unnecessary. You can say it's totally made up when you have to pay the bills and have no income. You are 50% of the way there already (no income). Now try to pay for your bed, the roof over your head, transportation to work (no more easy school).....

The point the video makes is that the media makes the recession worse.

honestly, i live in the USA and the recession (or "recission" lol) hasnt affected me at all. I know there are people getting layed off and theres alot of businesses closing but i dont think its been as bad as theyre reporting.

Definately. I think the united states is definately in one. There's no doubt about that but it's like the rest of the world were like OMG lets tag along too! I know the credit crunch in the US affects other countries but COME ON we don't rely on the U.S to survive, it's not AS bad as the newspapers drum it up to be!

while yes, the media plays a big part in controlling the less educated/informed, i doubt that they'd be able to scare employers into not hiring. All they hafta do is look at their books and go "hey, profits are up, we should expand".

i mean smaller business might shake in their boots, but any financially smart institution will not listen to media for spending tips, such as employment

I live in NEW ZEALAND and contrary to the way our media plays it up, we have not been affected as much.

Actually something I should add is this: America's economy is getting worse because of the current administration which keeps taking control of more companies and then cutting numerous jobs so that they can control everything. And when people complain and the media talks about recession, it's always because of George Bush. Everyone thinks Bush is a criminal because all they ever hear is the slanted view of the media, and now he's their scape goat to get Obama all the glory and none of the blame.

there is not a recession because the media says so. it is not a fictional situation. you seem to be completely unaware of socioeconomic factors that have contributed to the crisis, such as the housing implosion, the debt mismanagement and so on. if you think there is no recession and everything is fake then you sound like you live in your own little world, no worse than paris hilton or Marie Antoinette and her infamous "qu'ils mangent de la brioche".

the trigger of this econ recession was the banking sector+ the lack of available credit. businesses rely of capital in the form of loans+other sources 4 a variety of functions( too many to explain here)+ the disappearance of this captial has a knock on effect on other areas of the economy(as things are kinda related a little)ppl lose confid. in markets(which I give u is effected by the media sometimes)this effects sales revenue then effects businesses' av. expenditure causing job losses etc.

The experts were saying my country, Canada, was sheltered from it but some of the media insisted on trying to drag us into America's recession, using the automobile industry as an excuse. So of course we started getting into trouble as well. :(

It isn't as bad as predicted though. We're already on the turn around and my community is still growing because the major employer is government.

oh yeah yeah thats so dumb. there were things like that in new zealand aswell like this guy who owned a company and he laid off all of the NZ workers but kept all of the foreign ones. Now because of him anyone who has a visa expiring has to wait 60 days for it to be approved OR DECLINED and therefore can't stay in work. Our GOVT hopes this will mean more work for NZers but it's a bit harsh coz i have friends who arent kiwis :(
