Here we are in the year 2010 And it is a sad time knowing there will never be a period that 1981 thru 1993 produced some of the Coolest Bands of the Century i felt fortunate to be young at the time going killer show after show getting my money worth konwing each and every song on the play list pushing my way to the front of the stage looking back to see if my friends made it too, drinking in parking lots across the street before and after the show. But still getting my ass to work the next day
Huge Tones on Tail fan for years. Now have entire back catalogue on vinyl. Took a decade to acquire !!
They were way ahead were'nt they ? Experimental without being anal. Their capacity to manipulate your mood was and still is unnerving; legendary. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to post Tones on Tail Material.
Check out 'Dalis Car' also; Pete Murphys' direction apres 'Bauhaus'. Any other fans in Ireland I wonder ?????
@acumenza holy crap the entire back catalog? how? ebay orders? there's some seriously rare EPs out there. I have "pop" as well as "the album pop", two different versions, but to get all 3 of the EPs individually is very very rare. I think i Have the GO! single too... early L&R clearly shows similarities - Saudade's instrumentalism is equally beautiful.
Don't bother with Dali's Car, by the way. It was pretty weak & pales in comparison to Tones On Tail's brilliance. They were better than Love & Rockets & were pretty much the same. I have at least 4 LPs & EPs (probably same as you) and there was so much repetition of songas that I remember buying one CD ("Night Music" a pretty long disc for early CD production) with everything I'd ever heard, plus a live cover...couldn't believe "Go" was in a recent commercial...
@MarcelDuchampable "GO!" the shouted sample is the audio 'mark' of the production company that produces Robot Chicken too -watch after an episode, shows the production company logo and a sound goes with it, it's the GO! sample. It's been used 100s of times everywhere.

@acumenza Don't know if you've kept up, but I heard that Dalis Car will be releasing new material this year, even though Mick Karn passed away last year. Such unique music! Hated how they had only released one album.
