I'm not sure if I'm correct, but I use a Eastern Forehand for my first serve, and even though it doesn't have the spin of a continental grip, I feel like I hit it MUCH harder (though much flatter). Is it because I pronate incorrectly? Or is the Eastern grip supposed to give more power at the cost of spin?
Dude I have the same problem, so much power, but no spin. But you can always put spin on the ball your second serve. I don't know if i'm doing it right either.Let me know if you find out any info.
@webtennis haha I dont even remember posting to this... but now that the challenge is out there... saw you on ustanorcal from moraga... I'm in Santa Clara at the moment and thinking we will have to play... your over 60 so ill spot you two games, and your usta rated 5.0 so ill spot you another game.... game on sir
@falonkey1 You cocky fuck! This guy is making an instructional video, he's not bragging about his own talents. Yeah I could probably bagel you, but that doesn't mean I go around saying it!
Brent. I'd bet 1000 bucks on you win. Lots of people think they are young and fast, so they are better. I think you know stuff. I learned lots of stuff from your videos. You know what you are doing.
That being said, don't get serious with some comments that are offensive. I guess that's why you disabled the comments on some of your videos.
this is an basic intro into serving grips... it is what it is, seems fine to me. its clear, its basic, perfect and explains well why you use the grip. whats the problem?
He doesnt use a pure drive roddick. He uses a pure drive that is heavily modified and the pure drive roddick is babolat's attempt at creating a racket similar to the one roddick uses.
Thanks. I'm trying out for the varsity lawn tennis team and I don't know much about tennis. All I know is grip the raquet and hit the ball. Hopefully I make it.
dam i got a match 2morro i really hope this works i guess i can maybe sneak sum pratice serves in if it doesn't work i'll just siwtch back to my old serve p.s my serve is really slow
I really have to thanks for these tips, I having trouble with my serves, it's the only reason to why I lose my matches. Thanks and I hope it'll work good for me!
yeah continental is way better when u finanly get used to it, its faster spinner whatever, and i like how u say "its like throwing a ball" i think that describes how to serve perfectly, and a forehand is like throwing a ball side on :) baseball? :D
Hey Brent i have a question, you said we should use continental grip for serving that involves spin, but what about flat speed serves like andy roddick? What grip does he use?
Yeah but they are hella expensive. They don't even make them in Japan like some Yonex all made in china. I thought about wanting one and both Nadal and Rodick use them. The problem is there always $125+ usually selling for no less than $150. You could a get Yonex, Volkl, Fischer any of the brands you typically don't see at your local sporting good store for $100. You usually can't get a Babolat that cheap.
the babolat is a good racket however and i would pay that extra 50 bucks to get one. u may mention yonex, volkl, and fischer but i've never got to like them. when i bought my first babolat racket (pure drive), it had a good feeling to it and i think it was a great racket. all i can say is try to look for the racket that fits you and ur style. check stores if they have a rental program (aka demo program). if they don't, ask a friend if he has that racket. basically its all personal pref~

Andy Roddick uses Babolat Pure Drive (Cortex) Roddick + [for Mrmagiccity27]. Great video. Very useful. 5/5.

Mrmagiccity27 3 years ago
roddick uses a babolat racquet. It's good for roddick cuz that racquet was specially made for him. But some other people use it too.

Thanks. I'm trying out for the varsity lawn tennis team and I don't know much about tennis. All I know is grip the raquet and hit the ball. Hopefully I make it.
