Youth want to help, youth wants to be involve, youth wants only attention but also respect! They have a big part and a big role in the society! Let's listen for a while!
I am a senior and I am so glad that Rick Mercer's rant and the University of Guelph kick started this movement. I hope that your youth votes can help bring about very much needed change to this country. Great Video Dylan-neat to see the SUB where I hung out 40 years ago hasn't changed much.
I am also a well educated Senior bobbillow-and lived in Scandanavia for four years-the PC's will never care about social issues like the Danes-They love to stamp on the marginalized and economic downtrodden.
Like I said, I have no problem with people voting NDP as long as they are prepared to pay higher taxes (like in Sweden) for the things they're asking the NDP to provide. Personally, I think gas, groceries and taxes are already high enough, especially for students, seniors and lower income Canadians. I hate to think what things will cost when our dollar goes down, foreign investments shrinks and more corporations move away eroding our tax base erasing the benifit from higher corporate tax rates
I'm well educated, thank you - I have a doctorate (paid for) and know about Sweden and other northern European countries which are a lot smaller and easier to manage and pay for than our vast country. There are some socialist countries more successful than others as well as some capitalist countries more successful than others so we can find excptions for everything. The bottom line is most economists are leary of the NDP platform especially during this fragile economic climate.
Students won't be able to afford to pay back their student loans if all the government programs on those placards get implemented by an NDP - Liberal government because our taxes will go up so much and our economy will suffer creating even higher unemployment and the resulting social welfare. So it's fine if students want to vote that way as long as they're ready and willing to pay higher taxes for it all in the future.
@bobbilllow I think that is a little over-dramatic of you. Sweden is a great example of a country run by a socialist party, and their GDP is the 9th highest in the world and it's economy has been ranked the forth most competitive economy in the world. So before you get all radical, educate yourself.

Damn right we want respect! This video is friggin great! So happy to see students all across Canada stepping up! All the way from down here at MUN to the Island on the other side!
Please put these people in charge of my country. The handover of power can't come soon enough. And, don't let them decay into cynical, selfish, middle-aged farts in the coming decades.
Riiiight...spend piles on the military and ignore the health of the planet. Drag your head out of the sand. What kind of jobs are you going to create for uneducated people? Well actually I get it. It is called dumbing us down..producing a generation of non critical thinking automatons who will do the bidding of people like Steven Harper and his corporate buddies. Has been working quite well so far. I can only hope that kids like the ones in this video wake up and get out to the polls.
So the fact that taxpayers are forced to heavily subsidize your pointless miseducation -- and, all too often, pick up the tab for your defaulted stubdent loans -- and now your are demanding "respect"?!
Tell you what, I'll think about it, when you stop being an economic parasite.
This is NDP in you-tube skin. Admit it or live in denial. Other Canadians vote for competent economic management. You guys want to graduate into an economy with no jobs?
@OAbrey These vote mobs are non-partisan. Youth are generally more socialist in their opinions and that is reflected on their signs. They chose issues they feel strongly about. If you feel the left wing parties cannot run the country, don't vote for them. Vote for whomever you feel is the best for Canada.
But whatever you do, whatever you feel, DON"T just complain on Youtube. Get OFF your computer and GO to the polls on May 2nd. Make your opinions heard!
Harper wants to spend $35 Billion of our dollars on Fighter Jets and $10 billion to put in young offenders so Judges can get a few bucks a head from the Private Jailers. Ask the Americans about this!
Put our money in Student Grants, Healthcare, HomeCare, Affordable Housing.
Canadian students for THE COALITION! No more Harper regime!
Outstanding! I LOVE it!! I actually got chills watching this. So proud.
Could this be the generation of youth that awakens and takes their rightful place in demanding and forcing change? Youth are always--always--at the forefront of instigating any change for the better in society. Go get what's yours! This country needs exactly the changes you’re asking for!

Great effort but I think it would be worth even a little more effort to redo this and fix the legibility issues. As much as possible change from words to symbols. Words that can't be drawn effectively should be written in much thicker letters. SLOW DOWN each sign's first appearance so we have a chance to read it. Watch out for reflections on windows.
Too bad the issues they brought up are not going to help Canada in the long run and will only bring Canada sown the path that the US and what Greece, Ireland and now Portugal have been through or are going through. Money needs to be spent on the Military and other essential areas like Health Care and the economy not on useless green programs. Education needs help yes but its not the most important right now, creating jobs and getting people back to work should be the main priority.
@AntiBSGroup There were lots of other issues there too. Just not all of them made it on camera in the shots that were the best. And green problems are not useless, it's pretty short-sighted to deny that. Some people see the importance of that. No one's denying that the economy, jobs and health care are important. But who are you to tell someone what they should care about? That's what voting is for. Our opinions.
@acdblnd Yes the Military, why because we are heading into unsettled times where we can't prdict what will happen. Canada ha one of the best Military's in the world , but its under funded and under equipped. We don't need to waste money on green initiatives as they are all lies.
Nice effort, but voting is merely giving sanction towards one small group to impose their will on the liberties of the masses. Dignified human beings represent themselves, they don't need representation from complete strangers.
Don't listen to the manipulative propaganda, "youth are lazy and apathetic", do something productive on voting day, stay at home and relax and enjoy the remaining freedoms that haven't been regulated away, don't vote!
@aerocabin Stefbot's series focuses on the US political system, in Canada its a little different. The recession hasnt hit us as hard nor the wars because of: minority government! With our political structure divided the crooks cant screw us as bad as in the states.
So get out and vote, but only vote for smaller parties screw the corperate parties like the libs or concervatives!
@aerocabin Hmmmmm...let's just say that I completely disagree with you. Voting is a form of freedom as well. Staying at home and relaxing doesn't help anyone but yourself. But if that's how you roll, then enjoy your freedom. While it lasts.
great video...so good to see that so many young people are so interested in voting...remember you are our future...tomorrow belongs to you...ask questions, demand answers...give 'em hell
Great Video. I am so glad you are getting involved. I hope the youth vote spreads across this country like wild fire. The choice is simple: unnecessary prisons, planes and huge win falls for the rich, absolutely no plan to sustain the environment, nothing for education and no plan to address the jobs of the future. And lets not forget the huge debt that will be left to you as Harper continues to borrow, borrow, borrow to finance his nowhere agenda. Its not good enough for you or Canada.
@1988scottcarey...every one completely ignore such foolish ignorant statements from idiots like this...obviously doesn't know how our political system works...your votes are not only matter but are important

Yes, exactly. These are not just "programs and services" for idiots who cannot make a buck; they are values and Canadians are not ready to give them up!
@brenda3d2 Totally! Youth are not apathetic blank slates, we do have issues, but we're always seeing our issues end up at the bottom of the pile of government priorities. I apologize that some signs were harder to see than others, particularly, "aboriginal rights", "rural health care" and other important issues weren't visible. The point was not to promote a particular issue, but the idea that youth have their own distinct issues and politicians must speak to them if they want our votes.
