I think it's pretty obvious why they got out. They were perfect, which is the exact reason why they got off. They already have enough money and the fans to make their own songs. And its ine of the rules, you cant have a contract for performing live shows already. Seriously what idiot wouldn't hear this shit and say it's perfection. Even the judges know that. The show is rigged. Also the Mormon group vocal point shouldve gone farther.
See... but I always smile when I hear this song... I really liked them. I really felt like this group was really strong and should have been given a chance to do that show in jeans and a t-shirt.
I happen to disagree with the judges...The chords and harmonies put together were incredibly difficult...shawn being from boys II men I would think could understand that. The soul was in the music and could easily be heard. I think they got voted off because most of the voters are listening to people like ben folds and sara (which I do too), but they tend to not appreciate older music as much. Overall I believe they deserved to stay and executed their music amazingly.
@bruce2890 Indeed--isn't that what everyone's talking about? How you could swear they've got some people hidden somewhere, lol? More and more impressed by them every week--they will win it!
Yeah i really felt them saying they already do 200 shows a year hurt them i mean why do they need more money for a record contract. I mean they already have someone doing that for them.
They should have stayed in the competition...they just got demoted to preforming in the Branson Mall...a mall!!! I've been going to Branson since I was two...and I went to school near there. The mall it like the worst theater in Branson. People these guys needed to make it bigger on the show...they have definitely put in their dues!
The Cat's Pajamas is pretty good, but I feel that the reason they got voted off was not only that they were doing 200 shows a year, but also they seem to have stayed in their comfort zone a little too much.
Like the judges said, singing groups have to take risks to show that they want to stay in the competition. As in getting out of their comfort zone and work in the outer zone.
they kicked them off because they didn't want them to win, not saying they would've or wouldn't but they're already professional. On american idol it's in the contract that you can't have any kind of deal or professional contract. If they had've stayed and won this show would've lost it's integrity.
LOVE<3 The Cat's Pajamas came to my middle school when I was in 7th and 8th grade because that is where one of them went to Middle School! They perform there every year. (I won't say which one because someone could figure out where he went to middle school and find out where I live... Creepy) I was overjoyed that they were on the show, but I was SO sad when they left :'(
Cat's Pajamas have actually come to my high school and I was able to take a workshop with them! Skinner taught me how to beatbox :D One of them was actually a former alumni of my high school, in Middleton Wisconsin! They are so good!! Keep it going guys
I'm not sure if most of you get the criticism of the judges. What they were skirting around is that while technically perfect (maybe the most of the night), it was an emotionless performance. There's 0 artistic integrity on display. Look at their name. Their audience (80 year old women). They're incredibly talented and by all accounts, successful. I do understand why they were voted off though. It wasn't about talent. It was about their artistry, and they didn't have enough of it on display.
this one wasn t my favorite wasn t my least fvorite but it doesn t like stick out u know like last year bad romance on the rocks that stuck with u this just was dull in a way but they are great singers
@mattdre88 because it was predictable. like the judges said, it was pitch perfect, great voices, great stage presence, but nothing we haven't seen before. it lacked freshness.
I'm so pissed off these guys were voted off, these judges are m--ons, what these competition for? So what if they've done 200 shows a year? It was a magnificent and outstanding performance compared to the rest of the other groups.......
No group with fewer than six members has made The Sing-Off's finals--there's just not enough voices to fill out the sound. As it was, CPJ's fifth man had to handle both bass and perc, and that's tough to balance. And Ben's point about lack of artistry is right on target--other groups did more with the arrangements, or took their songs in interesting new directions.
(Also, I kept expecting them to break into "Where in the world is Carmen San Diego?")
@wbradley1372 Totally agree. Not saying they were going to win it or even should have. Just saying you don't kick off a group on night one after saying "Your voices are beautiful, amazing, they completely gel" when there are other groups that other than a good story and a very good soloist don't have a ton going for them. I'm sure they would have come back with a good and unique arrangement of another song. They're professionals. Kinfolk 9 probably won't improve that much, though.
I was actually glad to see this group go. Not that they were bad, but they don't need the stardom. Having that many shows in Branson? You're doing alright.
I thought they were a Rockapella cover band (does that make them a cover cover band?). Their Branson show looked like an exact copy of Rockapella from the brief clips they showed. It's a great show for 80-year-old ladies, but their story didn't resonate in their introduction of their music.
Even though these guys were pitch perfect, their sound is actually really thin compared to the other groups, on account of them only having five guys. They simply can't compete sonic-wise with the larger groups. Try listening with earphones and you'll see what I mean--there is SO much going on under the lead in the other groups.
On the bright side, these guys go a lot of free advertising for their shows in Branson.
@RMKT3 True, there are two other groups of 5 still in it. North Shore is in a similar situation to CPJs, but they have loads of personality that augments their traditional 5-man doo-wop style. And Pentatonix is just in a different league--besides having a female voice, the rest of the group is so busy filling in the space they SEEM like a much larger group. It will be interesting, though, to see how they fare as the competition narrows and they have to go head-to-head with the bigger groups.
@mysticsmb I've seen a group called FORK comprised of 4 people that literally brought the roof down of the concert venue. It depends on the arrangement.
Cat's Pajamas got squeezed out because Vocal Point was way too good, and because it's good TV for the second chance group (Delilah) and the "underdogs" (Kinfolk 9) to remain on. Frankly, I think it's good TV to have the best performers. That's why I watch.
these guys are amazing and it's stupid to think they got kicked off because of their popularity and success in branson. they are very likeable and they do other music other than just oldies. for example, zakk created this mash up of a bunch of songs that are on the top 100 charts. i know they made the comment of seeing versatility and wanting to see them in jeans and t-shirts, which is dumb because everyone did ONE song! and they shouldn't be faulted for looking well dressed.
I always like technical superiority over lots of passion and emotion (also it wasn't an emotional performance but it's not like they didn't bring a ton of energy). I was totally crushed when these guys got sent home and Kinfolk 9 stayed. Kinfolk 9 is like a poor man's Backbeats; trying to use crazy talent to make up for blending and balance, they're just not as good at it as the Backbeats. Cat's Pajamas technical proficiency is like Street Corner Symphony last year.
THey're kinda like the White version of last year's group with the Black Old Folks... The only problem with these groups is they only sing one type of music, Oldies.
like what the sara girl said if they weren't wearing gay colors and had just a t-shirt and jeans on it would be way different and they would have like it more!
this show is a sing off. why the hell do they need to judge them by their uniform or outfit! it's the beat and voice that really matters. so this was just plain discrimination.
i enjoyed watching this group perform! also they had very strong control voices! they were better than the blue group because the lead singer there was low in this vocals.. you couldn't hear him much..
this group was better than green or blue.. to bad!
i think they didn't like them because they were wearing pink..
I believe even though they went home early, they didn't have too much to lose compared to the other groups, they have a way of income with the shows, lots of talent and experience
my choir opened for them yesterday in oskaloosa iowa at the george daily auditorium...they are amazing, super nice guys and their performances are phenominal! i love the guys...they were super fun and easy to get along with and i would love to watch them again! i was taking pictures with my phone of them while they were performing, and they would pose for the pictures. there is no more bee's knees...it is now the CAT'S PAJAMAS!! :) LOVE YOU GUYS!! :):)
