@vandal8906 you have to realize players themselves not always make themselves great. they need great coaches to make them even better than they are. and phil jackson is an example

best coach of all time with 11 rings-first reason why he's best ; second-he coached greatest players ever Kobe, Jordan, Shaq, Pippen, Rodman (even Rodman, can you believe that?) , and now Pau.
Damn, I swear to God, I want to play on Phil's team.
Phil Jackson is a good coach because he really gets inside players heads and toys with it. He motivates and challenges his players. Has absolute belief. I don't think he things of losing when he was a player or now as a coach. He is just a fearless competitor. And I also loved the thing he said about the Arizona state law on immigration. phil jackson may very well be the greatest coach ever, but we don't know that for sure to be true. the only reason people say he is, is because he has all those championships. but to say that he's the greatest because he has the most championships is to imply that coaches when championships on their own individual merits (without players) and we know that's not true. if phil jackson were to coach the new york knicks and pat riley, the chicago bulls, which team would've won that first 3 peat???
@FuckUtube2008 pat riley would not have won a three-peat. pat riley is known for being so hard on his teams that he exhausts them... he did repeat once, but his methods of yelling at players during timeouts wore them out... phils greatness really lies in his ability to make his team adjust on their own... thats why he has three, going on four threepeats...

Will always be a great bull. To me he will always great coach to my Lakers. In 2012 he ends his career with 12 championships! He completes it. 6 to for the bulls and my Lakers!
I don't give a shit what anybody else says about Phil Jackson. Any Coach that can start from scratch, and bring a World Championship from what he has to work with, in my opinion has got to be "The Greatest Coach Ever!".
Phil Jackson, you'all always be The Greatest Coach in Laker History.
@Jiltedin2007 I don't think the greatest coach of all time would have lost to a clearly outtalented pistons team in 2004, especially with Lakers having home court advantage.
@pjstjkvc16 Well considering the fact that he was coaching a Lakers Team that has all of a sudden lost their continuity, he did the best that he could have under the circumstances. That's why he took a Leave of Absence after that disaster of a NBA Final. But he returned, and brought the Lakers back to the top of the Basketball World.
Especially after at one time saying that the Lakers had a collective IQ of Negative something. Phil Jackson built a Championship Team with that Illogical Team
@Jiltedin2007 i think that's a bunch of crap..considering they lost their continuity..that's like blaming a team with the most talent for losing because they have no chemistry. coaches are supposed to deal with that, and that's no excuse for a coach to have. the pistons' best player was probably billups, who's a borderline hall of famer, and you had the lakers have 4 hall of famers on their team. considering the fact they lost their continuity. please.
@pjstjkvc16 Facts are facts! Why did the Lakers break up during the Summer in 2004? Jackson took a Leave of Abscence, Shaq wanted out because he hated Kobe, Fisher signed with Golden State. If anything, Jerry West should have stepped in and made everyone be in peace with one another. But Mitch Kupchak was the Lakers General Manager at the time.
Shaq said it himself, we were like a messed up car that year. NOBODY'S PERFECT!
@Jiltedin2007 I still don't think that's an excuse for a coach. Now if the Lakers didn't make the Finals with that team, then maybe I would think differently. Fact is, the Pistons didn't have more talent, but had the better TEAM, and their coach outcoached Phil Jackson. Plain and simple. Make all theexcuses you want. I don't care if they weren't gelling. You don't come one fortunate shot away by Kobe from getting swept with homecourt and that talent. No excuse whatsoever for Phil
@pjstjkvc16 who gives a crap! The man has 11 NBA Championships, and your talking about one he lost seven freakin years ago! You really have issues if you think just because he didn't win it that year! So that's just a bunch of bullcrap!!!
@mrwarped Yes, The Greatest Coach of the Chicago Bulls! Answer me this: Why couldn't Doug Collins take the Michael Jordan Bulls to the NBA Finals? Let alone the Championship.
@VogueMraz Yes, of course! The main reason why the Lakers got him, to repeat what he has accomplished with the Bulls in the 90's. Shaq and Kobe loved him!
@Jiltedin2007 I want him to comeback to the NBA and coach a team like the cavs or wolves and prove to me he can coach. Because I personally think he won all those championships because he coached two good teams and great players like MJ, Pippen, Rodman, Shaq and Kobe and great players. I want him to coach a team like the cavs or wolves right now and if he can at least take them to a conference series then i'll say he's the best coach ever.
2005-2006 Lakers, Smush Parker as starting PG and Kwame Brown as starting C and Kobe Bryant was the only star. They almost defeated a heavily-offense loaded Suns.
Phil Jackson is a jackass he thinks hes so damn smart yet he inherits these great teams hes never had to rebuild a team because he abandons ship he cant take losing like a man.
Then how did he take a group of Basketball Morons to a World Championship? Let's see Red Auerbach, Pat Riley or perhaps Greg Popovich accomplish a feat like that.
You the one that said "basketball morons" .When you have a team like the "Lakers" whom see to be in the championship every year which is boring unless your a "Lakers Fan" then of course you're going to look like a genius no matter who coaches. It's funny how nobody considers "Don
do you have to win championships to be the Greatest Ever? I guess in this selfish society with the "LaLa Land atitude "you do have to win a championship or your nobody.I've been a Warriors fan since I was a kid .What have the "Warriors" done the last 32 years? They've missed the playoff 26 of those years.I still stick with them I don't think any of you bandwagon Lakers fans would do that . Lets kick ass on the "Lakers" Beat L.A. NOW!!!!!!!!!
Of course, a San Franciscan jealous of Los Angeles sucess. Leave it to San Francisco to smack Los Angeles. Well Buddy, once upon a time not too long ago, Phil Jackson said that the "Championship Team" known to you as the Lakers, "Have a coolective Basketball I.Q. of Negative ?"(I forgot the number). Have you forgotten about that? But he turned that around.
Yes, Don Nelson is a Good Coach, and Lenny Wilkens deserves credit for winning a World Championship in Seattle in 1979.
And what does San Francisco have? Gays wherever you go. Although we have only ONE Suburb in West Hollywood. The entire city of San Francisco is Gay!
And we really don't give a shit about the Rams, or the Raiders. The Raiders are now back with you, so just shut your Pie Hole about Football. At least we have Hockey, and no, San Jose does not count as being San Francisco.
Not all Laker fans are "bandwagon fan". You're just jealous because your team isn't that good. "Beat L.A. NOW!!!!!!!!". Why don't you worry about your team trying to make the playoffs before you worry about my Lakers?
He took on this Laker team in 2005, a season after they failed to make the playoffs. He lost in the first round two years in a row, and in the finals in 2008. Sounds like 4 years of "rebuilding" to me.
Phil Jackson is now The Greatest Coach in NBA History! Now that Phil Jackson has passed Red Auerbach for most Championships coached, it's clear cut obvious that Phil Jackson was far better that Red Auerbach. Enough said!
Phil Jackson built the 2009 Lakers World Championship Team from Scratch!
The same team, at one time, Phil Jackson said that they had A Basketball I.Q. of Negative Something, Phil took to Ultimate Glory. Let's see Popovich pull something like that out of a hat!
Phil did not built squat. He is not the GM. Kupchak brought the players. Whether you know it or not no one has ever complained about Popovich. Jordan, Pippen, Shaq and Kobe all hated the socialist Triangle offense for years. Kobe stomaches it for image sake. Phil has been accused of being a condescending, arrogant manipulative person for years. His offense is overrated. Needs a go to scorer to score at the end of the clock in order to function. Jordan had 3 perimeter scorers..
The Spurs teams were never the most talented teams in the league. They had arguably the best chemistry. Everyone has a role. Do not need to talk about Shaq and Kobes drama. Phil did not coach squat in Chicago either. Never challenged Jordan. No one did. The coaches who did were fired. Popovich won with above average talenta t best. Jackson never won anything without multiple dominant players.
Why dont you talk about Radmanovic wanting out if Phil was such a good coach. Stated himself the offense is limiting. How Phil has cost Laker games by limiting Bryant for the sake of lesser players. That sound like a great coach to you? Sorry there are better.
Reggie Jackson did not play for the A's in 1972 when they won the World Series, but he got himself a World Series Ring. If you are a Member of a Championship Team, whether or not you are involved in winning the Championship, you still get a Ring.
Yes, but the difference is that Phil Jackson wasn't even a part of the roster in the 1970 Championship-winning Knicks. He was not a member of the team. There is even an interview in which he himself stated that he did not receive a ring that year. Nonetheless, he did get a ring as a player in 1973 and another ten as a coach in the upcoming decades. I'm pretty sure he doesn't cry himself to sleep because he could have 12 (or 14) instead of 11.
Then whatever happened to Phil Jackson back in 1970? As far as I know Phil Jackson has only played for the Knicks. Anyway, I know that Phil does not cry over not getting a Ring back in 1970 as well. You don't see Willis Reed or Walt Frazier with 2 Handfuls of Rings, either. So now you can see, that it works both ways.
Nomar got a Ring, and a Full Share of the World Series Prize Money because the Red Sox(As a whole) voted to give that to Nomar. As for Byung-Hung Kim, he should have gotten something as a Member of the Red Sox that year.
i heard the knick s wants him badly it would be ashame coach for them they hated him badly

@29larron Frontrunner? Wow, you need to study the NBA.
In the NBA the Head Coaches are Always in a NO WIN SITUATION.
If the Team wins, the Players get the Credit
If the Team losses, the Head Coach takes the Blame
So where is the credit for the Head Coach? Where?
Do you really think any Head Coach in the NBA could have won Titles Phil won?
Look at the 2011 Heat, Loaded w/ Hall of Fame Talent & what happend? Lost, you still need Great Coaching to Motivate & put you in the Position to Win.

He took on this Laker team in 2005, a season after they failed to make the playoffs. He lost in the first round two years in a row, and in the finals in 2008. Sounds like 4 years of "rebuilding" to me.

You're not a Warriors Fan are you????
It's been 32 years of rebuilding so I don't think four years ist that much!

It's been 32 years of losing, not "rebuilding".

Phil Jackson is clearly better than Red Auerbach!
Jiltedin2007 2 years ago 42
Phil Jackson is now The Greatest Coach in NBA History! Now that Phil Jackson has passed Red Auerbach for most Championships coached, it's clear cut obvious that Phil Jackson was far better that Red Auerbach. Enough said!
Phil Jackson built the 2009 Lakers World Championship Team from Scratch!
The same team, at one time, Phil Jackson said that they had A Basketball I.Q. of Negative Something, Phil took to Ultimate Glory. Let's see Popovich pull something like that out of a hat!
Jiltedin2007 2 years ago
Phil did not built squat. He is not the GM. Kupchak brought the players. Whether you know it or not no one has ever complained about Popovich. Jordan, Pippen, Shaq and Kobe all hated the socialist Triangle offense for years. Kobe stomaches it for image sake. Phil has been accused of being a condescending, arrogant manipulative person for years. His offense is overrated. Needs a go to scorer to score at the end of the clock in order to function. Jordan had 3 perimeter scorers..
chitownmo 2 years ago
The Spurs teams were never the most talented teams in the league. They had arguably the best chemistry. Everyone has a role. Do not need to talk about Shaq and Kobes drama. Phil did not coach squat in Chicago either. Never challenged Jordan. No one did. The coaches who did were fired. Popovich won with above average talenta t best. Jackson never won anything without multiple dominant players.
chitownmo 2 years ago
Why dont you talk about Radmanovic wanting out if Phil was such a good coach. Stated himself the offense is limiting. How Phil has cost Laker games by limiting Bryant for the sake of lesser players. That sound like a great coach to you? Sorry there are better.

If better than who?

Jackson I believe has actually 12 rings. He has won 10 as a coach 2 as a player.
captainkill1 2 years ago 3
correct.

10 as a coach, 1 as a player. He sat out for the 1970 season so he didn't get a ring.

someone needs to update wikipedia and its sources then.

Reggie Jackson did not play for the A's in 1972 when they won the World Series, but he got himself a World Series Ring. If you are a Member of a Championship Team, whether or not you are involved in winning the Championship, you still get a Ring.
Jiltedin2007 2 years ago
Yes, but the difference is that Phil Jackson wasn't even a part of the roster in the 1970 Championship-winning Knicks. He was not a member of the team. There is even an interview in which he himself stated that he did not receive a ring that year. Nonetheless, he did get a ring as a player in 1973 and another ten as a coach in the upcoming decades. I'm pretty sure he doesn't cry himself to sleep because he could have 12 (or 14) instead of 11.
prospect42191 2 years ago
Then whatever happened to Phil Jackson back in 1970? As far as I know Phil Jackson has only played for the Knicks. Anyway, I know that Phil does not cry over not getting a Ring back in 1970 as well. You don't see Willis Reed or Walt Frazier with 2 Handfuls of Rings, either. So now you can see, that it works both ways.
Jiltedin2007 2 years ago
Tell me, did Byung-Hung Kim get a Ring with the Red Sox back in 2004?
Although he was not on the Playoff Roster, still, he was on the 40 Man Roster for the Red Sox back in 2004, and he did relieve for the Red Sox.
Jiltedin2007 2 years ago
That I don't know. Nomar Garciaparra got a World Series ring that year, and he was traded halfway through the season. So who knows.
prospect42191 2 years ago
Nomar got a Ring, and a Full Share of the World Series Prize Money because the Red Sox(As a whole) voted to give that to Nomar. As for Byung-Hung Kim, he should have gotten something as a Member of the Red Sox that year.
