Although the design of the gloves does depend on the organization, so yes there are sometimes gaps like that. @dakyum90 I hear what you're saying about the glove. I agree, I don't think that there was a weapon or anything, however...not knowing the rules is just as bad in a sport as blatantly breaking them. Although the design of the gloves does depend on the organization, so yes there are sometimes gaps like that. Another thing though is that you are making it sound like Akiyama had never fought before by claiming that he's a Jukoka, then you move on to say that all fighters have marks and scars.

Saku's a UFC tournament champ. When Dana White took over the UFC he wanted to get Sakuraba from Pride. As for now. Sakuraba's 40 years old and been in more wars than any fighter.
Btw there are rules against oiling up the body before a fight, which Akiyama denied doing, then later admitted to after being caught on film lotioning up in the lockerroom. Simply put there are rules in MMA, he broke them. He's also oiled up his Gi in Judo competition aswell.

i understand what you're saying there, but i always wonder about that. fighters will many times tell the ref their fine when they're down taking the beathing to delay a stoppage so they can recover. if tthey're coherent enough to say they're fine the ref might give them the benifit of the doubt. much like this fight where he's taking the shots but telling the ref what's goin on

Interesting video but that whole thing with putting brass knuckles in his gloves seemed very far fetched. Can you even put an MMA glove over brass knucles?

yeah, with a bigger sized glove.. which it looked like he had on. brass knuckles aren't that big, they maybe take up another 2cm or so in the glove. i don't know if he actually used brass knuckles, it's not totally clear evidence, but that's fucked up and pathetic if he did.

I believe they all use the same regular 4 ounce gloves in MMA. It's still tight to put them on with hand wraps so putting brass knucles inside them would be a tight fit. Plus, how could he wrestle/grapple woth brass knuckles? I agree it would be very pathetic and sad if the brass knuckles were used....I still doubt he used them,

I guess its like accidentally hitting someone in the balls (say like in royce gracie vs sakuraba ?), its also hard to believe that a skilled fighter like sakuraba accidentally hits a knee full in the nuts of royce, however such things do happen.

that happens from time to time in MMA and if it was the first fight you're talkin about. there were no rules so it would actually be legal. (no rules because that's what Royce wanted). if it was during the second fight, well then Saku had to find some way to combat Royce's steroids lol

Its hard to believe that he didnt know the rule, but then again you cannot PROVE that he did know and did this on purpose, and he cannot PROVE that he didnt know and it was an accident. In the end, the match was 'not played' and he said he was sorry, in public. That should be the end of story.
Yoshihiro Akiyama is a great fighter in any case.
