I love how much fun it looks like Adam is having. Maybe I'm just used to see him as Roger in RENT or in roles with a little more seriousness. I love that he looks like he's having the time of his life.
Adam Pascal is a great actor, but I dont think this is the role for him. His voice is too rockish and it sounds weird when he tries to sing for this role.
@MrMusicJosh In his defense, he wasn't trained for theatre... actually, I think I read that Jonathan Larson found him playing with his band and got him to audition for Rent. But I see your point.
@itsabitironic963 Yeah. He wasn't trained for theatre. I remember reading that were having a hard time finding someone to play Roger and that they finally did a call out for rock musicians or something. I remember reading that Jonathan Larson was hesitant about casting Adam because he always sang with his eyes shut and that really worried him. But I guess it all worked out in the end. Heh.
This song was written for the movie and replaced a similar song for Emcee and chorus. Numerous changes were made to make the show a "star vehicle" for Minelli, including cutting the landlady/grocer subplot. There is a great 2-disk CD with Maria Friedman as Sally and Jonathan Pryce as Emcee which has ALL the music from EVERY version of the show. Worth having for real fans.
I meant like how come her character isn't singing with him. I've never seen or heard the Broadway version, but I wanted to know if the original Broadway play had it like this too.
I liked this one. its interesting to see adam do something else besides rent lol
i thik that joel grey had a good comedy side to it...whcih was a lot cleaner. but for the true cabaret capture...that one goes to cumming. he was vulgar...which is wut cabaret is lol
Awsome, he has that great rock'n roll type quality to his voice that I absaloutly love about his singing, and it relly adds a great flavor to the song!!!
i'don't it's true that this scene in the film is so so funny, but as it happens in the whole play, the musical it's so much better...in the film the cinism and the decadence is nearly inesistent...
Adam has said numerous times he had the most fun doing Cabaret. It's evident. :)

I think his voice is more suited for rockish pieces rather than these types of songs.

How come in the movie Joel's character sang with Liza's character, but here Adam's character sings with a bunch of chicks???
krazykittymatt 2 years ago
because this is the brordway and the 'bunch of chicks' are the cabaret girls.

this is a rivival, so some things get switched around during the remakes.

Both Alan and Adam did really well. You can';t deny that, but you're totally right. Joel Grey was just perfection.
