This fued went on at house shows from May 92 to September 92 and the outcome and match style was always the same with the Warrior always winning. From what I heard, WWF officials were not too fond of the matches that these 2 put on and I heard Mean Gene say at one time that their matches against each other were really bad. Although, the promos and buildup for their fued were classic amazing stuff you gotta love.

Papa Shango was the Godfather (before The Godfather). I met him at the Marriott in Orlando Fl. He was totally cool. I was arguing with as buddy of mine about if the Godfather was Papa Shango and since he was sitting on the other side of the bar we asked him. He came over sat down with us and hung out for about a half hour talking wrestling and stuff. To top it all off as he was leaving he asked if I had any smoke. I had a joint in my pocket that I let him have free of charge. Very cool night!

I love how Warrior made the same old mistakes again and again. He would use too much energy at the beginning. Sure, guys like Papa would be overwhelmed at first. The jumpstart would usually end Warrior would try to splash his opponent too soon. Warrior would bounce off the ropes and give his challenger plenty of time to recover. The opponent would lift his knees as the nitwit Warrior would splash his stomach on them, doubling over in pain! What a laugh. It is so amazing he was not pinned.
