The audio engineer on this show is friend of mine, so I got a tour. Inside those suits is alot of mechanical gear to move the head and mouth and eyes. The suits do weigh about 110 lbs each. They are made of foam musculature and latex skin painted to look real. Its amazing there is even mucus in eyes and nose. So realistic looking. The pupeteers who work in these suits are very athletic and skilled. They are instructed to lay there still if they fall until crew comes out. The suits cost $250,000.

i saw documentary on walking with dinosaurs live the costumes for the raptors are quite heavy and you need to be strong enough to hold the weight but i am amazed as to how they move and operate the animatronics

I saw in a behind the scenes video that those animatronic costumes weigh something near 100 pounds. It takes strong people to work those things. Poor guy, thats called a bad day at work for him. lol

It took two guys outside plus the puppeteer inside to get the thing back on it's feet.

Those things look like a metal or fiberglass armature covered in latex or silicone. It might weigh around 100 pounds but even if it's a fair bit less the suits are bulky, top heavy and precariously balanced.

The dinos make very short appearances and I think the bulk of the suits is the reason.
