standing snags are a component of old growth temeprate rainforests in the pacific northwest. In your case it is obviously in areas that have been logged and are crowded with young tress, so it may be benficial for the reasons you stated. However a helping hand only goes so far.

  • Actually they are destroying a lot of snags that are an important food and nesting resource for a large number of avian and terrestrail species but hey you guys get a cheap laugh on youtube, rag on enviros and its all set to a deplorable new wave/metal soundtrack.

  • Well, the truth is we're removing dead, rotten trees that are almost ready to fall anyway, thus clearing space for sunlight to get to other smaller budding trees and ground growth, not to mention actually creating nutrients for the soil, and increasing nesting resources for terrestrial species. Plus, the soundtrack is mostly pop, rock, and little punk, just to get that straight, too. But thanks for your comment.

  • I'm calling the EPA you dirty destroyers of our beloved environment!
