@themetalman3 there's not really that much hate for it, people are just disappointed with how short it is. there's still quite a few fan favorites on the album, like Bloom and Codex.
that had to have been the perfect moment for someone in the crowd, hearing the whole band play this for the first time, and at 2:25 when they all join in, and its pouring rain...ugh. lucky bastards
@96Optimistic You make it sound like they print Nazi propaganda or something. And having relatives that read it hardly makes you an expert. I read it every day and aside from the anti scientific garbage they print, it's fine. The Guardian is the real criminal paper, that anti British, far left, culturally masochistic filthy rag of a paper.
@LowleyUK Well, they were supportive of the Nazis in the run up to World War 2. But no, they don't print Nazi propaganda, that's correct. And I never said they did. They're just, well, xenephobic far right ignorant people. They tend to pass opinion off as news and try to make people angry at things for no particular reason.
And the Guardian doesn't print anything that you say it does. I read it and it is actually incredibly impartial outside of the comment section.
@96Optimistic If caring about mass immigration, the undemocratic EU and the destruction of Britain as we know it makes me and other readers "Xenophobic" then so be it. As it happens I do not fear foreigners as many of them happen to be nicer than a lot of the British people I meet! But I do fear the breakdown of British culture, why wouldn't you?
Perhaps not all of the Guardian is as I describe, but the certain articles (Polly Toynbee especially) I read always make me sick.
@LowleyUK Mass immigration barely even exists - the country still is 92% white british. And even so, why should 'borders' stop human beings choosing where they want to live. British culture is moving on. Why not accept its progression rather than fighting for a return of old traditions. And these changes are being brought on by young people, not immigrants.
And just for the record, I'm not saying that you are a xenephobic racist or whatever, just that a lot of what the mail writes is.
@96Optimistic England was 82% white British in the 2009 census, but it's not necessarily about race, it's about culture. This is the biggest demographic change in history and not something that should be shrugged off at first glance. Who knows, maybe it will lead to a multi-racial utopia, but you must also consider the opposite.
Multiculturalism is a known failure - it has been widely criticised by MPs - but a few years ago you were considered an extremist to hold this opinion...
@LowleyUK there was no 2009 cencus, but okay. I'm still unsure about how our culture has changed so dramatically or why it's such a bad thing in your opinion? I personally believe that multiculturalism is merely the acceptance of other human beings with differing views into your society. Other cultures can have a lot to offer for us.
I'm unsure, however, how you can mix libertarianism and nationalism? Just out of curiosity, because I'd consider myself a libertarian.
@96Optimistic Oops, sorry, type "demography of England" in Wiki for what I meant.
In reverse order, by nationalism I mean the kind of spirit that won us the WW2, people pulling together in common purpose, protecting British interests, not selling our assets abroad for short term economic gain. Look at prosperous Japan for example. My libertarian views are things to do with freedom, fairness and treating people as individuals. I read a lot of Orwell and things like Areopagitica are important.
@LowleyUK But please don't conflate that kind of nationalism with the fervent, fanatical ideology espoused by certain far right groups; they are beyond the pale. They do not have a monopoly over it, just as they don't over the Union Jack.
Multiculturalism is a destructive idea because it's the belief in everything, which is the same as the belief in nothing! In two generations time when the country's demography has totally changed, who's to say common law is superior to sharia?
@LowleyUK But we're all just humans living on a planet - why should man-made borders matter? Protect the world's interests first.
Multiculturalism is the belief that many cultures can live together in one place. This isn't something that is destructive. And people won't vote for sharia law, just as they wouldn't vote for far-right ultra nationalists.
@96Optimistic Because unfortunately the world is not altruistic and this kind of mentality would be taken advantage of.
You didn't even acknowledge my point about demographics? How can you say people won't vote for sharia or facism if the majority of the population becomes islamic or facist? Bosnia is a frightening example of this.
@LowleyUK But the majority of the population will never become islamic or fascist, no matter what scare stories the media at large put out. Nevermind the entire population, most muslims living in Britain are against Sharia Law. In America, 71% of the population is white, and that's counting latinos who consider themselves to be white (minus latinos it's 63.7%). And they're still considered the most racist and authoritarian nation in the western world.
@LowleyUK Oh, and just thought I'd say that I agree with you on the EU. It's a corrupt, undemocratic organisation. We should have had another referendum on our membership a LONG time ago.
@96Optimistic Yes, we have practically signed over our sovereignty. I think the EU now responsible for 3/4 of the new legislation that is made (I'm not 100% about that though).
Just for the record, I'm not actually some right wing monster, I am a cocktail of environmentalism, libertarianism, nationalism (In the good sense, not Orwell's definition) rationalism & mild conservatism.
for me this outshines all of KOL . It's no less than "wonderful" and would you everso lucky folk in the crowd all shhhh please - the master is at work here
@TheTelepathicKid I know it doesn't fit, The King of Limbs is a thom Yorke solo album. The daily mail sounds like something the whole band had say in.
@darkstarmarvel2 as I said on another video, Thom Yorke can't put songs together. The band had to have helped out somewhere, TKOL is much better than anything Thom has put out solo.
If they didn't help instrumentally, they at least must have help in the composition.
@TheAmjab It is INSANELY biased news source in England which is notorious for its backwards, disgustingly ignorant stance on nearly everything, as far as I know. I live in the US but British friends have said how gross it is.
this has to have been written somewhere around amnesiac, HTTT era. It would be awesome if later they put out a unreleased songs album, i would probably be a double album knowing them.
I've been following, buying and watching Radiohead since the 90s and love everything they've done. With Thom, I started off worshiping him but as I've got older I now question Thom's attitude. Is it really necessary to 'shhhh' a few obviously merry and excited listeners in the crowd? I guess it's not as bad as when he told a paying fan 'shut up you c*nt' during the pre-In Rainbows tour. I guess I love Radiohead but just not too fond on Thom anymore. Johnny's a much better role model.
@hijackt I suppose when you are singing a song that has alot of meaning to you personally and someone incessantly yells things at you, it would get extremely annoying.
@jirdimaster Welp in vein of "I liked it, it's good." you gave us, "I didnt like it its terrible." I dont agree Nirvanas terrible., I never was into metal and Elvis...there were other people around his time...that I like more. But I was never a huge fan. The guy might appeal to a fanbase I woulnt necessarily fight with. I wonder what your taste is. How about telling us, instead of saying it's not good.
Moonies: It is a way of referring to members of the Unification Church, founded in South Korea, as paragoge the surname of its founder, Reverend Sun Myung Moon ;p
@Piasmaffia It sounds like You & Whose Army Pt. 2. Besides Coldplay's early stuff was influenced by RH. This song just takes influence from their own early sound.
Daily Mail reminds me of Coldplay. It feels like a song Coldplay would wanna write, but can't. The ending kinda sounds like 'God Put A Smile Upon Your Face' and the beginning slighty makes me think of 'Everything's Not Lost'. Brilliant song though.
FUCKING AWESOME!!! Do you have any idea how many consecutive days in a row I've checked for any sign of TKOL live performances with the full band?!? lol.......but seriously
I'll never be able to thank you enough for shooting and then sharing these vids. In the pouring rain no less. Your arms must have been falling off by the end of it!
We were up on the hill near the Glastonbury sign, couldn't really see anything but it sounded great. Unlike everyone else around us who it seemed was just waiting to hear Karma Police, we loved every second of it. The first people to ever hear the new songs live, still can't believe it!
it's the first time may be that i find a radiohead song that is like a coldplay song (i meant an old coldplay song, listen to poor me or to proof for example quite the same ;) ) and sorry for my english im a french speaking
@mirron23 . Annoys you? You need to lighten up a bit. Music is subjective there's no right or wrong, good or bad, just what you like and what you don't. So enjoy what you like listening to and let others do the same.
Radiohead is easliy the greatest European band since U2 the combination of complexity, great song writing, and underrated musicianship from Colin Greenwood, Jonny Greenwood, and Phil Selway cant be beat
I just find ridiculous these fights because of comparisons between Radiohead and Coldplay, or Oasis, etc. I love them all. Each one is different, each one has something different to offer.
Of course, Radiohead are the ones that take more risks, explore more, experiment more.
On the other hand, they can't touch as many people as bands such as Coldplay or U2, maybe because of the complexity of their tunes.
Being complex doesn't mean necessarily being better, either worse. It depends.
@JOLLYJOEY101 I'm not saying Coldplay can't write 'nice songs', in fact I like quite a lot of Coldplay songs. But that's all they are really... 'nice songs'. They have no conviction and I find them plain and bland at times. They're clearly talented musicians and are capable of writing great tunes, but the majority of their songs are boring and lack any innovation/creativity. Radiohead, on the other hand, write great songs like this with feeling and enough stuff going on to keep you interested.
I was there, but I only found out at 7pm that they were playing at 8, so we had to leg it the whole way from Pyramid stage to the Park, meaning we got a crap spot. Consequently we could barely hear a thing as the speakers weren't too powerful, so we left during this song as we couldn't hear it and thought it was the last one.
One of the biggest regrets of my life, dohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I've been to 8 Glastonburys now, plenty of festivals and hundreds of gigs. The 3 best performances I've ever seen at any gig EVER, have been at the park stage. 1) Thom and Jonny 2010, 2) Pulp 2011, 3) Radiohead 2011. Thank you so much to the people who've posted bits or all of these sets up here.
I rather Radiohead over anyother british band, except Blur, but yeah... it kinda sounds a lot like Coldplay in the first verse :S I know... it's twisted
no, this is an unreleased one. But it's quite old, the band had been working on it occassionally since 2005 (it was called "A Pig's Ear"). The song had its live debut in 2010 at Thom's solo gig at Cambridge Corn Exchange and was also performed with "Atoms for peace."

@mirron23 .

One of the biggest regrets of my life, dohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

if anyone says this sounds like coldyplay they have no idea what theyre talking about. no one should compare the two.

how does this sound like coldplay...and this song is ancient.

@MishaM
no, this is an unreleased one. But it's quite old, the band had been working on it occassionally since 2005 (it was called "A Pig's Ear"). The song had its live debut in 2010 at Thom's solo gig at Cambridge Corn Exchange and was also performed with "Atoms for peace."
