I just found a baby magpie. He's gets mad and cusses at me for holding him. Then I feed him. So he cusses and swears because I am not fast enough. LOL.
Aww. I know magpies go after other birds nests, eggs, etc...but you do realize many, many other birds do the same thing, people just like to single these guys out for some reason. I like them.

I remember when I was growing up on the farm in Canada, we would get so many magpies that they would run off any other bird. They would also raid the garden and wake you up at the crack of dawn. When you had a gun they were never around. When you didn't have a gun, they were everywhere. So, we would carefully slide our kitchen window open and shoot them while they were raiding our garden. If we wounded one then the dog would finish it off. It was the only way to keep the population down.
@maggerdaiser You shouldn't kill the poor things just chase them away they are so innocent and only looking for food... it isn't their fault they are hungry coz u eat out of a garden too so u should have only shooed them away not kill the poor birds and your dog must be so brutal to eat them
Magpies are actually a very invasive bird and they kill the eggs and babies of smaller birds. I personally didn't shoot them, my father did and I am glad he did, since they got too out of control. It is impossible to chase away or shoo away entire flocks that have nested in your trees. There was only 1 time he lamed one when he shot it and my dog quickly put it out of its misery and certainly did not eat it. Until you are in that situation, you must not judge
Great to see this. One of my earliest memories as a three year old child (from over 42 years ago now!) is of a neighbour's pet magpie that could talk. His name was "Chippy" and he could say his name and a few other things. One very clear memory I have is of poking my finger through the netting of his aviary and getting a painful peck! It's remarkable that these birds can acquire human speech. I often hear wild magpies chattering away to each other - I wonder what they're saying!
Did he really say "what do you want"? It seems like he was mostly asserting his dominance over the land you were treading on. I think he kept repeating "Rooney" and landing close to you so as to establish who owned the land you were walking on. This is Rooney's land, yo! :-)
whar did it want!!!!!

@MegaWizeguy Magpies are not related to Mynas. They belong to the crow family; Mynas are from the starling family.
