Dawkins oratory is, no doubt deliberately, sermon-like. The discussion is of ideas in science, but I'm reminded of the late Jacques Ellul's thoughts on the "sacred" aspect of modern technology.

A genetic book of the dead. Sounds intriguing. SMELLS like a HOLY BOOK. Contained within is the database (scripture) of information encoded in language of the giver of life (DNA). Translated by scientist (saviors) to provide guidance (dogma) that hold the wisdom (parables) of the survival story from past lives and environments (tribulations). May I suggest the title, The Preservation of Favored Races in The Struggle for life. The bridge we need is one to separate science from the state.

What a pity that The Modern Scientific Theory of Evolution just points out that 'Adam & Eve' & the 'Sin' on which the whole of the Theistic religions are based don't exist. Just thought I'd point this out as nobody in authority ever does.

Darwin would not get the hard ride, evolution could be taught properly in schools, no Faith schools needed. The question 'Is there a God' could remain unanswered and scientists could get on with the job free from superstition.

Last time I checked you can't CPR style DNA into a body and just expect it to poof come to life. Where did God come from then if you know the answer? everything that is, is. so everything that exists at some point most have not existed, it must of come from somewhere.

it can not create itself, that is a contradiction

The sad thing is that there are fewer evolutionists than creationists in the world. Then again there are also vastly more uneducated people in the world than educated. : ) so there are different groups. "ists" as group reference.

It was made up by creationists, but it stuck and now people who generally understand and accept evolutionary theory call themselves evolutionists.

In fact, the term "Big Bang Theory" was made up by Fred Hoyle, co-founder of the alternative "Steady State Theory," to mock people who believed in cosmic inflation. But that term stuck and is used by scientists today.

I personally don' t like the term "evolutionist" because it mistakenly implies that evolution is a religion.
