You get to choose the dog, depending which game you bought. Some of the dogs you have to unlock by doing certain things, and some already came with the game. To save the game, go to the Home page and touch the icon that says "save" on the top left corner.

If you have friends with 1-4 nintendog games, preffibly a different one to urs you can connect using a thing called Bark mode and unlock their dog

Ahh, my dog did that a few times. She WILL live. Nintendogs do not die, she will be all right. But you might lose a bit of trainer points on it. Next time, you can yank her forward a few times and she will try to stay away from the trash next time.

Nintendogs was my first ever game for DS. I originally wanted Lab & Friends, by they sold out so i got Dachshund & Friends. Im still happy though because it has a Golden retriever (kinda like a lab lol)!

you can still get a lab though! get enough trainer points and you can unlock all the other dogs, that are on other games.
