  • hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • AWW you Gavin are so sweet thank you for the tutorial :3

  • Gavin for President!

  • hey im trying to do something similar to this with cs4. i don't know what version you used in this tutorial, but when I add the spherize filter it gives me a completely different effect. When you play with the amount it gives a curve to the edge of the map and makes it look more 3d and realistic. When I add the effect, it just bubbles out the center of the selection and doesn't give me that rounded edge that you get. My edges stay exactly the same, it just adds a fisheye like bubble. any advice?

  • You know you're a photoshop addict when you spend all day watching Gavin's tutorial and wish you didn't have to sleep @ night

  • Great Tut! :D btw you sound a bit like David Mitchell lol

  • As a beginner teaching myself, I'm glad you have not used shortcuts everywhere - because I don't remember them! As I get better, then I'll try and use them, but to begin with it's really handy having learning videos like this explained step by step.. Thanks very much for your time and tutorials!

  • great tutorial Gavin! i added a small blur effect to the folding edges and it looks a little bit better. try it!

  • "What do you mean it's rubbish?"

LOL! I have to give this guy credit. I'm subscribing. He's funny, entertaining, and very helpful. He should consider teacher a Graphics Class.

  • Hi Gavin love the tutorials thanks, I was wondering how would you make a old type of paper look burnt around the edges? like an old map.

  • Great video! Love watching your tutorials. Have only had photoshop a few months and have learned tons from your vids. Keep up the great work and many thanks!

  • The master of photoshop.... I enjoy all of your videos and learn something new from you everytime!

Thank you for sharing your skills

  • You're just... amazing o.O

Great job, Gavin. Keep going :].

  • can you give me a link to your original picture (the map) so i can practice? =D thanks

  • i love the way you speak..

  • How would you suggest going about applying the fold effect when you want to do both horizontal and vertical folds? I've been trying to use this method and alternating black/white but it doesn't come out looking right.

  • Excellent Master .

  • Can you reverse the way in which the image appears by having the center panel brought to the background and the 2 wings of the folded paper brought to the forground? Then the 2 outside panels would look as if they will fold up and over to the center as opposed to being flipped backwards behind the center panel? Would simply reverse the colors of white and black to accomplish this?

  • master Gavin teach me!

  • good tutorial.

  • love this tip.. but i think the edges are too sharp for that map..

  • thank you very much, will make good use of all your tutorials. really a great help

  • Very awesome tutorials. Thanks for taking he time to do these. I have tried a few and they turned out great, you make it easy to follow your directions.

  • You're awesome! I have been watching most of your video's, you explaine very well!

    Thanks a lot!

  • hello from Greece. congratulations ,you are fantastic, all your videos are great..........

    thanks for sharing .

  • Thank you for all your great videos. You make photoshop fun and easy to learn. I thank you sir.

  • One thing you'll learn with time is Photoshop is full of choices. There is no right or wrong way, if you end up at where you want to be.

For example you could have said CTRL+J will duplicate the active layer and CTRL+D will deselect.

So why don't I use those in my videos? Because I choose not to.

  • @Robbinski14 - OMG do you really ask questions like that? do you really think everyone should use Photoshop the way you do?

btw, some people are old school Photoshop pros and like the non shortcut way of doing things. For the purpose of tutorials it's always best to show the non-shortcut way of doing things so that novices can remember where things are in the menu pallete.

  • i think to further enhance the effect, instead of using white fill, we can use a colour almost similar but lighter to the one in the photo. in this case, light brown.

  • Nice! I've learned more in the last 5+ minutes of this video about PS than I have in the past 5 weeks fumbling on my own. Thanks Gavin, much appreciated!

  • ... Hello Gavin! I am pleased to tell you that thanks to you, I learned to use photoshop.

    Thanks a lot.

    Hello Marco from Bologna Italy

  • simple yet cool.. amzing gavin.. thanks for the tut..

    keep it comin'

  • good job as always. I can't stop to think that it might have looked better had you used black to transparent for all three panels, instead of the white to transparent for the middle one. nevertheless nicely done!

  • super! great work!

  • You are AMAZING Mr. Gavin Hoey

    Definitely simply absolutely... Genius

  • I like your process. I was thinking you would use warp to get the 3d look from the folds. It'd give more control over the outside curve. Or after using your filter, a bit of liquify would work seeing as how you had a solid background.

  • cool

  • Excellent tutorial!
