I just love this and have watched these legendary women singing together here so many times. What a pity the interviewer's hand cuts down in frame just before Birgit comes in for the first time, making it clear that it had been rehearsed. I mean, we KNOW it was rehearsed - it had to be - but that hand is such a shame.

Birgit said that everyone wanted to sound as Zarah - she was HUGE in almost the whole of Europe - dark and mysterious, so the young Birgit was no exception, but they knew each other very well before this show, as they often had met and lunched together when both performed in Vienna after the war.

The title of this song in English: "Do you want to see a star, look at me!" (Zarah's signature. She sang it on every concert in Sweden.) Actually, in the talk before this duet Birgit told us that Zarah was her IDOL. (in her youth.) And that when she came to the Royal Opera in Stockholm they at first thought she was a mezzo! (she had imitated Zarah for so long.) In case you wonder why she behaves like a giggling teenager in Zarah's presence!
