THIS IS OBVIOUS, because you have choosen the background "negative" colors for the disks, and splitted them in half vertically. From that moment, the disks will be grouped not by color, but because of a sort of "pop out" effect (yellow disk on black background, black disk on yellow background), which is possible JUST in that background-color condition!
Would it happen again if you change the background color with anything other than yellow and black? I don't think so.
