Best heel turn ever also, because it was "The End of Hulkamania" as Tony astutely points out. Hogan ended it in a ball of flames, committing the ultimate betrayal of WCW, burning all bridges and turning againnst the entire wrestling world and telling the fans they were shit and to go screw themselves (in PG language) Ending Hulkamania always had the potential to be a huge moneymaker and WCW was smart enough to use it to kick start the also amazing NWO Invasio angle.

If cena turned heel in the perfect manner just as hogan did, and cut a good promo, he could get some serious heat I do believe. He's gonna have to do something ruthless and shocking, like pummeling the crap out of CM punk with a chair and aligning with Miz. It would definitely make Rock- Cena a better match, and wrestling better in general.

While the "Attitude Era" is something that was exclusive to the WWF(E), I think that Hogan's heel turn and the nWo faction would make wrestling into an edgier product. Of course, ECW really started that concept years before, but they weren't as well known as WCW or the WWF.

WCW took that hate and as a result,Hogan became bigger than ever!
0:10 and 3:13 man this was the second the entire world of wrestling stopped. Those moments defined a lot of Hogan's legacy, not to mention an entire industry. He helped make Vince rich and in turn helped kick his ass for nearly 2 yrs. Kudos to the announce team too for selling the moment

Even though there was the internet and RSPW and other forums that discussed wrestling as completely staged, the 'net and the smart mark were still in their infancy. I was about 19 when this happened and while I knew it was fake, it still had a mystery to it (like another commentor said) and you suspended disbelief and didn't really think about the behind the scenes stuff. You just sort of went with the moment, and this moment was absolutely HUGE
I love how Nash knocks the fan down in one punch and then proceeds to try and push him out of the ring with his foot. Yet Scott Hall turns around to see this and proceeds to kick the tar out of him.
Hands down, no questions asked, this is the most epic, monumental moment in professional wrestling history, this completely revolutionized both the WCW and WWE. Nothing as long as there is professionaly wrestling will ever come light years to this moment. Plain and simple no NWO=No Atttitude era= No pro wrestling today.

Yeah, it started Austin along the path to superstardom, but this was just such an immediate impact that within a week, WCW was pulling ahead of WWF, and wrestling itself ended up changing permanently from what it was before this for essentially 50 years.

Even when he came back to WWE in 2002,it was as a heel,but Hogan was still getting cheered.
There was memorable heel promo that he did during a match with Rikishi(I think)where he basically said:"All I'm here to do is wrestle,take your money and go home!"(or something like that).
Well the fans loved it and gave some very enthusiastic cheers.
Thus the early part of Hogan's 2002-2003 WWE run was his AWA debut repeated!

I hate to bust some people's bubbles,but this was not Hogan's 1st time as a heel.When he 1st broke into wrestling in the NWA in the late 1970's,he was a heel,during his run in the WWE of 1980-1981,he was a heel,when he made his AWA debut in 1982,it was supposed to be as a heel,however his AWA debut coincided with the release of Rocky 3,which made Hogan very popular,so when he came into the AWA,he got cheered,so they had to make Hogan a face,which he was for almost 15 years!

@Colin0513 Oh he will. It's all a work. Check out him appearing at Comic Con this week and fronting up to HHH. Funny how he stood right in front of the WWE camera crew during his promo and was filmed and it's up on WWE.com now too I believe. Great story though!!

You know the seeds for the heel turn had been there for the whole time Hogan was in WCW,if you watch the main event of the 1st Nitro,you'll see fans booing Hogan,holding signs that say:"Hogan sucks!",even throwing stuff in the ring!
It was either Hogan or Bischoff(I say that because if you ask either one,they'll take total credit)who figured out:"He's totally hated by the WCW fans,so let's run with it!"

I was watching this piece and wondering how many little Hulk-O-Maniacs were crying watching this evil, demonic, heel turn ?; How many little children were rushed to emergency rooms, unable to sleep, unable to stop the tears from flowing? Why, why, why, did Hogan turn heel? Was it to sell out Arenas and sell TV advertising? I will never believe that WCW bookers wanted to kill Hulk-O-Mania just to make a bunch of money.

@Buckeyecat2002 Actually,what happened was that ever since Hulk Hogan had come in WCW in 1994,he was getting a lot of hate from the die hard WCW fans,it wasn't so much Hogan that they hated,it was the fact that he was pushed so quickly upon his arrival(signed in June of 1994,won the title in his 1st match a month later)over guys that were well established in the company.
WCW took that hate and as a result,Hogan became bigger than ever!

0:10 and 3:13 man this was the second the entire world of wrestling stopped. Those moments defined a lot of Hogan's legacy, not to mention an entire industry. He helped make Vince rich and in turn helped kick his ass for nearly 2 yrs. Kudos to the announce team too for selling the moment
I still remember crouching in front of the crappy PPV channel hearing Hogan turn his back on Macho and WCW to join the Outsiders. It's not something i'll ever forget. Those were some great times to be a kid :D

yeah i remember that night..i was TOTALLY shocked...and this was the time when there was still a "mystery" about wrestling being fake or real...real wrestling fans knew it was a lil "staged" but i don't think anybody knew it was as scripted as it was...but thanks to vince tellin' how it is, wrestling hasn't been the same...but at least the storylines and wrestling action were good back then..now the wrestling sucks as well and the storylines

Even though there was the internet and RSPW and other forums that discussed wrestling as completely staged, the 'net and the smart mark were still in their infancy. I was about 19 when this happened and while I knew it was fake, it still had a mystery to it (like another commentor said) and you suspended disbelief and didn't really think about the behind the scenes stuff. You just sort of went with the moment, and this moment was absolutely HUGE

Hands down, no questions asked, this is the most epic, monumental moment in professional wrestling history, this completely revolutionized both the WCW and WWE. Nothing as long as there is professionaly wrestling will ever come light years to this moment. Plain and simple no NWO=No Atttitude era= No pro wrestling today.

@Hummel5006 WCW marks say this was the best moment ever, WWF marks say the birth of Austin 3:16 was the best moment ever. While they both were great, amazing even, there will be no single "greatest moment ever". Both moments I just mentioned are in a class of their own. I do agree with you on your last sentence, though. Without NWO running wild, there probably would be no Attitude Era.

@PandaTheLulz I can't put the Austin 3:15 promo above the Hogan heel turn. Yeah, it started Austin along the path to superstardom, but this was just such an immediate impact that within a week, WCW was pulling ahead of WWF, and wrestling itself ended up changing permanently from what it was before this for essentially 50 years.

@PandaTheLulz Amazing isn't it that Austin's promo of Austin 3:16 happened just a couple weeks before Hogan turned heel at Bash at the Beach. I don't think any of us knew back then just how those two events would change pro wrestling for all time.
