@nivia91 does this work with colored fondant as well. I bought some white ready to use fondant and I'm planning on coloring it hot pink. Once I'm done coloring do i just pop it in the microwave. I'm wondering if i add water to my colored fondant if it will fade the color any?
Was wondering if anyone could help me, when i melted my fondant it had clumps in it (was it do to dry fondant). When I did another try my fondant had several bubbles that transferred when i covered the cupcake. Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong. I really would like to get this down. And I didnt make the fondant cause i do not have a food processor at this time.
@SelinasVideos try to add some water to your fondant and put it in the microwave just for a few seconds at a time, stairring everytime you take out of the microwave. See if it helps.
@Jondy28 :) I tried the other one as well and it tastes delicious as long as it is a very good quality. It is not the ready to roll one but the powder one.
For marshamellow fondant jus right it on youtube and you will get a few videos. For the poured fondant I dont have a recipe, I just looked online. There are loads of recipe out there, just google. :o) Hope this helps, sorry!
That would be a great idea! Never thought about it! I dont know whether you can but you could try, it is similar to royal icing so I don't think it would be a problem.
This video is great! Just what I needed, I have a question though, I need to have RED (really red) topped cupcakes and id like to do the poured fondant....I can purchase already dyed red fondant from a cake decorating shop i found, can i just use that fondant to melt it in the microwave as you showed in the video? It's more expensive so i wanted to check with you first before I go buying it. Thank you in advance!!
I dont really know wether you can or not melt ready made fondant. What you could do is maybe melt only a very small piece and see how it looks. If you have ready made fondant at home, try with that one first. If not, let me know and I will give it a try with a ready made fondant that I have got left at home :)
You can try with buttercream but to be completely honest with, I dont know wether it will work. Just let me know how it went :)
If you dont like the taste of jellies and stuff, try to make your own sugar syrup. Just add water and sugar into a pot and bring it to boil (no longer than that).
You can also use anything that is sticky, maybe even honey disolved with a bit of water would do the job.
I think it is better to add the colour when it is mixable. As for refrigerating the fondant. I didnt do it, I never refrigerate fondant because it can absorve moisture from the fridge. Try to keep it in an airtight container and in a cool place.
I didnt even kept my cupcakes in the fridge after pouring the fondant over them. They could last up to a week in room temperature.
Hi , could I know the brand of ready to use fondant?? Do you know the wilton one to work or not???
gloriahei 6 months ago

Is the jam necessary for the fondant to stick to cupcake, or just for flavor?
andreaRN1003 9 months ago
@andreaRN1003 Not really necessary

Could you also pipe this on a CC that wasn't dome shaped?

Does it taste like glazed cupcakes?? Can I do the same with melted chocolate?
karenbee1996 11 months ago
@karenbee1996 It doesnt taste the same as glaze. The frosting doesnt go as hard as glaze.
Of course you can do it with melted chocolate!

@roburrel Hi there, I would first melt the fondant and then colour it. This way you will get the exact colour you want.

@Jondy28 My pleasure :) You can also buy ready-made powder fondant and add water to it.

@nivia91 Thank nivia...ready made is way too gross to do this with in my opinion...I rather stick to MMF :)

So do you think you can pipe lace designs onto a cake with this style of poured fondant? If you let it cool down a little bit?
Also is this home made mm fondant?

That would be a great idea! Never thought about it! I dont know whether you can but you could try, it is similar to royal icing so I don't think it would be a problem.

why don't you try making marshmallow fondant but just adding red food coloring. it would probably be a lot easier and cheaper :) hope this helps

Do I have to use the jam? Because I don't really like jellies and things.
Is there anything else that I could use as a substitute?
Could I brush buttercream icing on it like Im doing a crumb layer, then dip after its dried?

this is so cool, I think I'm going to do this for my son's 3rd birthday party!
When it's mixable prior to dipping, can I add the food dye to make it any color?
Also, with this method is it still needed to refrigerate the fondant for 24 hours or can you make it after it mixes?
AbbiesRose 3 years ago
Hi there
I think it is better to add the colour when it is mixable. As for refrigerating the fondant. I didnt do it, I never refrigerate fondant because it can absorve moisture from the fridge. Try to keep it in an airtight container and in a cool place.

What is the jam for? Why do you have to glaze it before putting the fondant?
corynnchan 3 years ago
You use glaze for the fondant to stick on the cupcakes. : )
nivia91 3 years ago
if it does'nt taste as good can i add abit of vailla essence to it?
honeyzway 3 years ago
You can add any flavour to it, colour,. If you dont want to make it liquid, you could just roll it out and shape. :)
nivia91 3 years ago
nice video. can i use normal fondant that can be used from the shops instead of marshmellow fondant?
honeyzway 3 years ago
Yes you can but it won't taste as good : )
