The two people who disliked this have no hearts. If they can dislike a video as sad as this where people are actually crying as they see this then your just some heartless person. If anyone knows the original song to this, or the background if there is one. Please tell me because i would love to hear a longer version of this.
@haloisback20 Yes, they are. Period. But you know what's worse? i don't really think someone really dislikes this song, but disliked it because they wanted to be a jerk for the fun of it. That's almost worse than not liking it at all.
@HomicidalDuckis I'm sorry to hear about your loss, I've been close to loosing my dad and am very thankful everyday he's still with me I started rewatching recently as well got to this episode and did end up catching a tear or two, actually I almost sobbed haha but it's good to let your emotions out.
I just started rewatching atla this week and I got to this episode tonight. I was near sobbing at the end because I know Iroh's pain. Not exactly, I did not lose a son, but I lost my father a month ago and entirely too soon.
This song makes me regret all the bad I've done, and touches me in a way where I just want to cry and say I'm sorry to everyone I hurt. Because you never know when you might lose someone. God bless my cousin and all the other soldiers out there, and I hope they to can return safely to there families.
I always thought Iroh's character didn't seem solid. He was completely hypocritical in many cases and the writers didn't really create a good character definition for him. Don't get me wrong I love this show but it's just something I noticed...
@nilepwnsu Iroh's character is complex, that's the thing. He might seem hypocritical, but there are reasons for that. He was never committed to the idea of the Fire Nation ruling the world, evidenced by his membership in the White Lotus. Then, his son died at the Siege of Ba Sing Se and it completely tore Iroh down. When Zuko was banished, Iroh began to take care of him as if Zuko were his son, which changed his view on life even more. A lot of Iroh's character is only hinted at.
He's the true Iroh... Greg Baldwin just couldn't fill those shoes. Iroh is my favorite character in the entire series- I think I loved the first two seasons the most because of him. Rest in peace, Mako.
for the 2 people people who disliked the video i hope u go to war one day to experience what its like to have someone you love get shot right in front of you and then you can come back and you will understand this song
I just saw this episode not too long ago... When I deployed I lost one of my best friends to an IED... Just wish he could have came marching home at my side.
I just saw this episode not too long ago... When I deployed I lost one of my best friends to an IED... Just wish he could have came marching home at my side.
This is my favorite show. I could go on about it. This is just one of those moments, the moment that makes you appreciate everything that it is... <3
Thank you, to the cast and crew who brought this amazing show to my childhood. I am so grateful for your dedication and amazing persistence. It was well worth your efforts.
Third, I am amazed. This show is stunning. The artwork was stunning and consistent; it began beautifully and ended beautifully. The storyline was amazing, and though the show included some "impossible" elements, it still felt real. The depth and variety of the characters is amazing.
This is what happens when the best of writing and the best of art come together. This is REAL, in a sense that if it were not a cartoon, it would not seem so out of place (if that makes sense). (see next comment)
First, this episode: I think this was perhaps the first time a cartoon made me honestly cry for characters that did not exist... it was because of this episode that I found out who Mako was.
Second, I was amazed at the dedication this whole team must have had; Iroh changed voice actors, and I did not even realize it. They must just be THAT good. <3 One of the hardest things for a fan to go through is changes in the cast or show artwork... which leads me to my next point.
This song makes me remember the times when I wanted to end my own life, because it made me think of how my father who puts me as his first priority, would react. Then I begin to hate myself for wanting to die.
This is honestly so sad to listen to and to relate it to real life because even though it was a cartoon, I loved it for so many more reasons. RIP Mako. <3
@Sepharite Mako without a doubt...although they did pretty well to replace the voice...you can just hear so much more wisdom in Mako's expression compared to his replacement Greg Baldwin
This series got so muchrespect from me. Its just.. Unexplainable. This scene is the saddest scene Ever seen in whatever kind of media. Avatar is an arty masterpiece. It'll life on for centuries.
if you listen closely in this episode, they had to put in the replacement voice for mako in the part where he helps the kids playing soccer in the alley and they break that big ass motherfuckers window
God, every time I get to this episode, and see Iroh crying... singing this song... I just lose it. If that scene doesn't at least get a little tiny tear from you, you have no soul.
I was watching this episode and my dad came in. He sat down and watched wih me. Once the "In honor of Mako" Came up he started talking about what an amazing person he was. Then he started crying. Brave soldier boy, comes marching home.
Leaves from the vine Falling so slow Like fragile, tiny shells Drifting in the foam Little soldier boy Come marching home Brave soldier boy Comes marching home beautiful lyrics huh
So long as there will be war, sad songs like this will always be sung. Consider that and please consider taking action to the government repeal the Selective Service System - I don't want my mom and my dad to have to cry while singing this one day.
This cartoon taught me so much...respect, perseverance, love, humor, and being thankful. I love it...it really touches my heart and I hope the new avatar series will be just as grand.
@TjstrikerMC Yeah, a new mini series called the legend of korra follows ofcourse, korra, a water bending avatar who learned all elements but air, thats all that was given anyways
In the second series of Avatar, 'Legend of Korra', Mako will have a character named after him. He also did the voice of Aku in Samurai Jack. He was such a talent.
My mom starting watching Avatar and saw this episode today. When I came down stairs to get a drink I saw her crying, I asked what was wrong she showed me this part from the episode.
