What could be a good way to preventing hubcaps from getting stolen?, I'm from Nucaragua and hubcaps on any car gets stolen if you don't secure them.... How can I secure these directly to the rim?
My advice on hubcaps, trim rings, lug nut covers, wheel locks - pull them off prior 2 having the tires changed. I have known a few who have their vehicle jewelry damaged beyond repair...
@brighteyefilms Nice, I want to buy a bug but people tell me dont there like extremely slow... Is that true i need some advice from you... It seems like u know alot about these cars.
When I had to take the wheels off of my bug at school my teacher said to get a screwdriver and pop it off, but then i said you can get one of those things instead n he had never heard of it. but since i don't have one of those i ended up making one out of a welding wire, worked fine! =)
damn man is their anything that you don't know lol....ok how about this......what do you do to put a dash back to the way it should be.....if some jerk has cut it all up to put in his "improvement" gauges
@vanityrose12 ha, you got me one one where I never had to do such a thing. I usually stay away from bugs that are chopped like that. But I guess you could go to a swap and see if someone has a dash to weld in. How bad is it? If it is not hacked too much you can put your own sheet metal in there.
well i'm totally fresh off the boat when it comes to the world of cars but let's just say that it looks more like the Jetsons and less like the Flintstones lol.....all i want to do is get a simple 68-70 bug........from what i'm learning those are the years that are the most price friendly.....to me flashy is taking off the dash pad and go with the painted look like the early bugs.....
If you need a to use a lever, use the bar that is supplied with the original car jack, (when the jack is clipped in place in the boot, .... trunk to you Yanks! :) the bar is located inside the tube of the jack. To use it with the hub cap remover you place the cranked end against the sidewall of the tyre, or the rim of the wheel and pull, (as shown in this video). That is one reason that the jack bar has that crank at one end.
Only mechanic who didn't f*ck 1 part of my bug while fixing another, was a guy who didn't profess to be a Specialist
Asked 1st "specialist" to wield in a new floor & different runners for some classic looking bucket seats but no,he just drilled holes right through it & bolted them in
Drove directly to the 2nd to fix the gearbox & came back finding screws drilled through my door lining into the door cause I was missing some clips
Hit the freeway & engine blew cause neither thought to check the oil
Im sure you've come in your years of repairing bugs with this problem, but u prolly trying to bring one back UP lol, what do u do cause we've used this liquid thats supposed to loose it up, didnt work, and tomorrow we're thinking of heating the "head of the arm"? (excuse my bad english), do u think its a good option?
hey man, ur like my source for any bug doubt i have haha, as u can see this is my first bug.. and well i got a ton of doubts.
If you can help me with this one... lemme know.
Im moving the back wheels low, and well as u know it requires to move the (arm?) and pop it out of its place first... we ran into this bad boy, its tight as hell bro!

In a pinch, you can fashion one out of a keyring.

@MuchLove4Ahat They are slow, especially the early ones. But you can get stronger engines in them. A 1600dp engine is fine.

@brighteyefilms Ok thank you for the advice.

Yeah if you can do it with penetrating oil, then you would have to put heat on it.
