Chris & Jonathan Nolan, & David Goyer developed the character more than any other Batman film made. Nolan knows his stuff, his other work shows it, enough said. Ledger's role was excellent cuz the Nolan bros penned a good script. Iron Man was good but not great. Furthermore several Marvel mythos of Iron Man didnt stay true to the comic. poor compro. No CGI was used in Batman to the extent as they did in Iron Man. Like it not TDK set the standard, in plot, character development, and storyline.

I see your point and agree with respect that it is Bruce, rather than Fox, who develops his weapons etc. Especially Nolan's vision for the Joker being a painted up guy rather than emerging from a vat of chemcials. His approach for real world senerio in the movie was a stretch for me but he pulled it off.

Chris Nolan made Batman more realistic. Bruce couldn't have develped the tumbler unless he spent the next 5 years of his life.

The thing i like about Christopher Nolan is he likes to use old school techniques he does not use allot of special effects.

Almost every gadget or Explosion in his movies are fully functional.
