Thank you Fred for having the vision that you did have. It is my sincerest hope that your sons and the rest of the Meijer corporate continue to keep your vision alive. Sometime back in the 90's, your company changed... just not the same place. I truly hope that your family continues to push forward and bring back the values that made Meijer such a wonderful place to work and shop at. Great company morale is the key to also having great, happy customers! God Bless!
I'm from New York... never heard of Meijer, but a friend told me about it and tells me how great it is. Just checked Meijer's Twitter page, and it has a really good following. Came here through the Twitter page. Would be interested in helping Meijer expand outside of the 5 states it's currently in. New York could be big.
I grew up in Grand Rapids, and lived a few blocks from the first Meijer in GR at Michigan and Fuller Avenues. My late father was a R.Ph., and helped Fred design and set up the first pharmacy ever in a grocery store at the first Meijer Thrifty Acres at 28th street and Kalamazoo street, about 1966. I had an opportunity to meet Fred's sons who, rightfully so, now run the business. Good luck and keep it up you guys. I still shop at Meijer every week (9th and W. Main in Kalamazoo MI).
Thank you Fred for being a leader. You have always been a leader to look up too. My brother got his first job back in the late 50's as a bagger. Again, Thank you.....
The background music is somewhat enchanting and moving. What's the name of it?

Thanks Fred for giving my dad the opportunities that you have and allowing him to be able provide for his family for so many years the way he has.
