Jeff, thanks for the video. I really liked the production, and it's much better than others out there. I'm exploring the purchase of a MG V7 Classic, and although I cannot comment on the accuracy of the video as others have, it was fun to watch. It made me want to buy a Guzzi even more. Thanks. --Brent
Need to address something at 1.45 - Moto Guzzi engines are not derived from tractors. This is a popular myth and someone who claims to be a Moto Guzzi aficionado should know better than to spout such rubbish. Also while we're at it, Moto Guzzi's history starts in 1921, not the early 1800's as is stated on this clip. I do get so annoyed when people post these clips, set themselves up as experts and actually have no real knowledge of the subject they are referring too.
I liked the video! However, I'd like to point out a couple of things about the monolog. Moto Guzzi started in 1921 as a motorcycle manufacturer, not farm tractors. They did make some utilty vehicles but never tractors. Guzzi dominated racing in the 1950s, By the time of its pull out from Grand Prix racing, Moto Guzzi had won 3,329 official races, 8 World Championships, 6 Constructor's Championships and 11 Isle of Man TT victories. There are several good books about Moto Guzzi's fantastic history
I had an old T-3. I live in West Virginia, which means tight turns and plenty of them. The T-3 was like it was made for that type of riding. "It's all about the wind"
why do Americans delcare they are "Irish" or "Swedish" or something else other than American, when they are not. He sounds VERY American to me. I guess his ancestors were Irish...so why not say that? very confusing. Otherwise, as a Griso SE owner (from New Zealand, with parents from England), I thought its a very good clip.
@agustajames - because as americans, we all come from someplace else at some point in time. thats just how we say where we are from.. just the way its done. Tomato, tomato... :-)
@tyeweb thanks for reply. I realize that's the ways its done "in America", unlike anywhere else in the world. People from Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand or Canada all came from somewhere else too but they identify with where they were born, not where their ancestors come from. I have Irish friends in San Francisco (real ones) who say they are Irish too. Maybe they should say "I'm Roman, or Norman, or English, or Spanish..." since Ireland has been settled by all those people's too.
@agustajames I somewhat agree, we should say we're Americans first, and whatever ethnicity second, if one so choses. Personally, I like to say I am American of Italian heritage. When I was in Italy I was referred to as American, not Italian. I met a person there who was actually from France, but of Italian hertigae visiting relatives. He referred to himself as French.
great video- but moto guzzi was founded in 1918- by three guys after wwI, one of them died in a plane crash soon after and thats what the eagle is after- he was a pilot. there is no tractor engine anywhere... :- ) ciao!
Cool vid :) I have a green stripe 1000s also, purchased it a couple of years ago and love it. My first guzzi was a 75 T3 that I still have but the 1000s is something special.
A real pleasure to hear from someone who sounds more the way I think than so many of the motorcycle reviewers I read. I'm not concerned with weight or lean angle, or how the bike compares. I'm not being chased. I have a V11 and switched to it after two Ducatis because I wanted to go a little slower. The Norwegian novelist Per Petterson described a character as being "in time with himself." That's how I want to feel on a bike. That's how I feel on my Guzzi. Thanks for reminding me of that.
Enjoyed this video. Absolutely agree with everything you said, especially about respecting them. You are an inspiration to younger riders on how to do it the right way.
Great video. I have owned several Moto Guzzi's and currently own a Mk V LeMans. Awesome bikes, and I can relate to everything you say. Hope they continue producing bikes for many years to come,
@motobirdie toured eleven thousand kilo on new Zealand on one 2 up for 4 months tenting camping completely covered this country and then did all of aus just to finish of beautiful bikes
Green frame Lemans 1000S. I bought one new in '93 and she was stolen two months later, never saw her again. I'm riding an 89 Lemans V now but every time I see that tank and frame I feel a tug on the heartstrings...
Great video.Nice to see a well done video on Guzzi. Just a few points Moto Guzzi Started in 1923 and the motor was design to be a motorcycle motor in the V7. Yes they did have a three wheel tractor powered by a V twin but that was a different motor.
25 yrs ago held together with wire !! My xj600 is held together with gaffa tape and its never fixed properly, cool video i do like those guzzi v7 classics hmmm, but for now its my xj that i bought this yr for 400 pounds, keep on ridin x
Even with a few snafus,GREAT video.Of course how bad can it be with THAT BIKE in it.I remember the forst time I saw a 1000S.I was,and still am,awe struck.I have a T3 cafe and '07 Griso and nothing else can match the Guzzi.Period! Regards,Steve
Just a few nits to pick: 1. Moto Guzzi (pronounced goot-zee) was founded in 1919 as "G.P." by Carlo Guzzi and Giorgio Parodi, no such entity existed previous to that. 2. The old myth that the Guzzi engine was derived from a "tractor engine" has effectively been dispelled in Greg Field's excellent book "Moto Guzzi Big Twins". There never was a farm implement with a 90 degree v-twin configuration, only the 3x3 "Mechanical Mule" Guzzi built for the military.
@Amboman4 You're correct in your facts and I was a bit off.Ive read probably every book about the Guzzi but just couldnt summon up the nuts on facts for the camera.I stand corrected.Tracey did a great job on the entire video and aside from my few detail flaws ,I think it came off very well .Jordan
@Amboman4 forgot to mention about Giovanni ravelli he also was a founder the three of them are the founders sadly in 1918 ravelli lost his life that is the reason the flying eagle is dedicated to him kind regards
Beautiful bike you have there! Great job on the video! I'm also a Guzzi fan, and currently restoring a 1979 Lemans CX100. Hope to have her finished for next Summer, and post a video at that time. Cheers, AL
