I saw Chris & John Cambell at the Caravan of Dreams in Fort Worth 1991. It was a night of National guitars & nuevo blues. I sat at a small table right in front of his mic stand. When he played the last slide note at the end of "Make the Dirt Stick" it sent chills down my spine and I let out a slight gasp. He heard me, grinned & nodded his head.
John Cambell followed him with the darkest, howling, growling performance ever. Both of them are gone now - died prematurely in their forties.
Too bad another great one is gone. Just like the Vaughn brother, never be another one like him either! When did he pass? Cancer is evil, and Now I am fighting the battle myself. Just went for my first treatments today! :(
We will beat this thing with music like this for my quiet time.
exactly!thats why He took him so soon...Whitley might me sittin on Jesus's lap and playing balleen hammer right now...God bless u chris..may u rest in peace

@thenoirkid Check out "Scrapyard Lullaby". That & "Accordingly" are my two favorite songs off of Dirt Floor.
