  • The f***ing boss!!!!!

  • Baasstatuzz

  • From the worst musician ever to sell recorded music on itunes.....This is Awesome !

  • @AngloSaxonMusic itunes is for faggots who dont know what pirating is... so itunes as i said is for faggots who dont know shit about music. and by the fact bruce for his last album got "Outlaw pete" as 2nd most sold song in 2010 soooo... that also proves buying CD's is also better than shit itunes.

  • Woooooow!!!!!

  • el jefe bruce!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is suppose to be one of the saddest songs of the time

  • this son is to love...for you

    .-Gisela

  • And you tell me, that.. You love me, so how I be.. Want me, so how I be.. With all my faults.. In spite of the long removal.. And I return, that.. I love you, so how you are.. Want you, so how you are.. With all your faults.. In spite of the long removal.. So look at me, and sing with me "that song".. Then I need you.. Your voice give me the strenght I need.. He let me tremble and a wolly, beautyfull feeling in me ascend.. Everytime in my.. No.. Our life.. I will love you!! I Love you Bruce

  • his best song by far. honestly all of his other hits are just pop drivel. this has soul.

  • @ri394 pop? no, listen properly they all have their meaning and soul you just have to be able to relate to understand.

  • @ri394 Pop drivel?? Are you crazy, once you've sewn your ears back on go and listen to some! Every song has a meaning and story behind it you have to listen, even Born in the USA which most people dont understand...

  • @mitchellsgolf I actually logged on to respond to @ri394 after reading his comment some days ago but you beat me to it, if anyone have poured his soul into his music it's Bruce. Calling his music pop drivel only reveals a complete lack of understanding (or hearing). Also agree about Born in the USA...:-)

  • Simply a great guy, great charisma.

  • FUCKING SENSATIONAL

  • This make me realize that there is not a lot of "real men" doing music nowadays (without including metal and punk) and there were not that much 25 years ago too. This is what I always find so great about Springsteen. He looks like a regular guy who sings and gives his best and I can relate too that,

  • Damn I LOVE this song! It brings so many memories! =)

  • I wrote a short story on what happened in this song for school and is quite possibly the best story I ever wrote. Thank you Bruce for not only a wonderful song but a story behind it that is so inspiring and timeless we all love it.

  • The harmonica that Bruce plays in this song is haunting. It leaves a lingering taste of classic rock in the air. It's a true tale of love vs. money, he was young and dumb, and the way he tells this story is beautiful.

  • i fucking love this song

  • hammer geil

    zum träumen...

    love you

    THE RIVER

  • ohh geil...

The best song of the world...

    love you bruce

    Mein vorbild für immer

  • Im trying to learn the into on harmonica, any tips?

  • I was at this concert, the year of my 21st birthday, bloody great trip, great music and great company...happy days!

  • best performance of this song...still actually...I wasn´t born when he wrote this, but I know how he felt in that moment...

  • Someone get me a frickin' time machine already, I want to be there so bad!

  • the old saying goes ''everyone is replaceable'' Well...i do not agree. Bruce is irreplaceable!!!

  • The Boss rocked it like a boss!

  • my mom told me a story that when i was a child, 1-2 years old, I used to love this song, even though i had no idea what the lyrics said, I suppose that i either loved the music alone, or feelt a meaning. So i heard it on the radio.. and spent a long time on youtube trying to find this song again.. and i did.. now i can't stop listning to it. This song will be played at my funeral so even in death i'll hear this peice of art.

  • This song is big peace of historY

  • @SamSaProduction .......History?......sadly, the life story he describes through the lyrics it has never been more real now for millions of people in the States and all over the world.............is a life without that wonderful thing and the very essence of life call" "HOPE".

  • introduced to bruce springsteen music by a male, decided tocheck out on utube, fell in love especially with this track The River, evokes a lot of emotions in me... beautiful.

  • It's no joke that this guy is called THE BOSS..!!

  • The Boss

  • Great performance

  • Always loved Bruce.....Don't really care for his politics......But the music is soooo good !!!........He is American Rock and Roll at it's best.

  • I was introduce to this song by someone that I care deeply. I just wish I would have meet him before I felt the pain of my broken dreams............my love.......you were mine for a brief moment in time, but I will rejoice on that memory forever.......

  • Worlds greatest Rock'n Roller. Nuff said.

  • Never seen a man so passionate

  • I especially enjoy the banner ads by Google over the screen. I thought that was only when someone was uploading a copyrighted piece of music. Aparently not.

  • @nzs1cool God doesnt exist you moron

  • @ecarrace100 AND who do toy know this????

  • amazing---this old young boy--

  • Paras biisi ikinä!

  • You know there are songs you wish you wrote? Plus the backing vocalist is a sexy mama.

  • Great song...

  • I don't even know who the guitar player is, and it bugs me that he's not more famous or given more credit for this song. His playing means a lot in this song. OK, I admit I don't know so much about the E street band, otherwise I would've know I guess, but his name should almost be mentioned together with Bruce's for this song.

  • @USAneedsaChange Nils Lofgren is the guitarist. He has done some solo work. Look him up on YouTube.

  • @jerrman7j ah, thanks! He has a name that makes him sound like he's from my country, Sweden! but we would type Nils Löfgren if so, hehe. I'll look him up.

  • han e grym

  • kiitos kertoo elämästä tuntuu että ottaisin askeleen eteeen kaksi taakse bruce on paras amerikan iso pomo niin olen myös kuullut

  • this melody can reach the botom of my heart

    your the best bruce

  • Modern day songs = Boom Boom Chicka Chicka, Booooom

    Music from the 80's = A story and a meaning !!!

  • @Hellem09 Uh... you ever heard of a little band called Devo?

  • @Hellem09

this song was recorded in '79, :P

  • @Hellem09 This song is written in 79 dipshit, but you're right

  • @Hellem09 Flock of Seaguls= story and a meaning. Some modern day stuff is ok. But yes the 70's produced a lot of great music.

  • This and Telegraph Road are my favourites from the early 80s. Quality songs that also impart some feeling of the coming and going of the Good Times.

  • @geiramk Love Telegraph Road...and of course the River :) We have similar tastes in music.

  • I feel sorry for those people that voted this down :(

  • one sexy bastard in 85 !"

  • im 22, English and yet I still feel a connection with this song, not many song writers can legitimately claim to have had such an effect on humanity, still as relevent today as it was when he first wrote it in the 80s, Bruce Springsteen is the LAD

  • @mwhurtley It is strange, as this song is so nostalgic, you live the years he sings here, being young carefree, with som many dreams and hopes, hold still in time....I also think this song is beautiful..:))

  • @mwhurtley

You're so completely right, 22 too also and ever since I heard it the first time, it sticks to you, it doesn't want to let you go, takes you away in it's feeling. The boss is a genious!

  • @mwhurtley I'm 14 and I'm from Hungary, and I like this song

  • @mwhurtley He's not the LAD, he's THE BOSS. ;-)

  • Great working class song by a working class hero. One of my favorites of this (proud to say) singer with not only Irish, but also Dutch roots.

  • 22 people never been down at the river

  • @ecarrace100 22 people may not have ever been down at the river, but the rest of us think your post is idiotic and uninteresting.

  • Bruce is the BOSS! This song reminds me of growing up in the inner city of Baltimore back in the late 70's. It reminds me of people I grew up with, our way of life, and some of them that aren't here anymore.

  • one of the best written songs ever. dont have any songwriters who write with such grit and emotion anymore

  • One of my favorite Bruce Springsteen's songs. I first heard of this song when I brought his greatest hits album. Good song.

  • i like bruce singing "the river" live.

  • Mind blowing tune.

I'm getting a Hohner marine band harmonica in "A" for xmas, Think I know the first tune I,m playing on it.

  • @scx493x this song is played in the key of C. just sayin ;)

  • @andreas2355 Thanks, lucky I have one in 'c' eh.

    Craig

  • Poland loves you, Bruce ! I am falling in love with your voice.

  • the motherfuckin Boss

  • the best version!!!!!!!

  • Plus getting to play all this good music with the one you love onstage...now thats real rockstar stuff friends

  • This song is brilliant. The story just sucks you in, how he and his girlfriend watch their dreams fade away because of the child they have to take care of. The river, a symbol of nature untamed, representing the life the young lovers had envisioned, once flowing mighty, has now run dry.

God, I love it when that harmonica cries.

  • THE BOSS!!!!!

  • Bruce, last of the hard men.

  • @Mehdrok31 listen here...I never took a Viagra in my life!!
