  • @RippedSupreme congratulation

  • @RippedSupreme late comment, but tis not! far too modern

  • mike and c j szuter formed outta the blue russ was never in that band

  • I wonder how much wear his pick had after this session :)

  • i met him in 88-89, he was recording with the singer from Racer X, who played drums in a studio up in Lancaster...He was damn great back then too.

  • I met Russ a few times around '94 when I was working a club in the Cleveland area that a band he was in, Outta the Blue, played frequently. He did not seem cocky at all, but did then, and still does, have mad skills to back up ANY cockiness he may have.

  • What picks was he using?

  • its all in the hair!!!

  • Russ Parrish is one of those underrated phenomenal guitarists that can play anything, he's definetly a big influence on my guitar playing. He was definetly the best rock shredding guitarist when I was studying shredding at G.I.T> in 1990! ROCK ON RUSS PARISH YOUR THE BEST SHREDDING GUITARIST ONTHE PLANET!

  • He was 10 years old playing like this? It says on Wikipedia that he was only born in 1982, is that true?

  • @kramerblues89 No, he was about 22-24 at the time this was recorded.

  • @rhoadsfanz5150 I guess Wikipedia is wrong? :/

  • @kramerblues89 born 1970

  • AWESOME!!

  • paul gilbert wannabe

  • Russ was my guitar teacher at G.I.T. in 1990 - totally fun guy - great palyer

  • @poopsebeb He's my current teach and i'm pretty sure he only gets better. He's coming out with a new album soon

  • @Ericclapton325 were does he teach if you don't mind me asking?

  • @xXTheRatXx Oklahoma but for the sake of my teacher i wont tell you where in oklahoma

  • @Ericclapton325 Haha I understand that. Just curious, lol! :- )

  • I wish I knew what pick ups he was using here.. I love the clearity

  • un-fucking-believable....

  • Kick ass guitar playing, I was waiting for this video to come back online! Very tasteful despite the obvious lickery.

  • Russ aka Satchel is a Guitar god ..... up there with Vai , Batio , EVH ... !

  • @Keir316 vai is bollocks , i prefer satchel , but no one is better than guthrie govan

  • Can hear a lot of Vinnie Moore in his playing.

  • Russ is an incredibly good guitar player, I admire him a lot. Thanks for uploading this vid, it's very impressive to watch!

  • Russ was introduced by Paul Hanson to myself at GIT '90, and I knew he was sick immediately. He's pretty cocky, but I accept that, as he's extremely clever, and a very hard worker. He deserves all respect. apb

  • @aaronbergAPB aaron. thats exactly how I remember Russ.. I was there in 92.. Great player.. I learned A TON of stuff from his open councilling that I still use in my player almost 20 yrs later...

  • Russ was very good then, and I believe he never stopped growing. He's a monster player, apb

  • @aaronbergAPB Yea he's a tough guitar teacher too and cocky but hey if i was that good i would be too

  • Man, I've been looking for this video for ages after watching it years ago, and now it pops up on youtube. Awesome1

  • what style of playing is this?? Say that I wanted to learn how to play like this, what book or style would I need to learn?? Please help!! Anyone!!

  • I'd say definately check out Paul Gilbert's "Intense Rock" instructional dvd (and maybe "Intense Rock II" as well). Also, check out the first "Speed Kills" dvd by Michael Angelo Batio.

  • Thank you. I actually have michael angelo batio video but the stuff he teaches doesn't sound like russ (this guy playing). Like all the sweeps and scales he's using sound so fluent and smooth and cool and different, does paul play more like this guy?

  • yes, intense rock will help you, its all a combination of pentatonic and minor scales

  • Andoni666 thanks man. i've been listening to yngwie a lot and trying to learn his style but what's it called when russ does the stuff at 2:33?

  • harmonic minor scale, this style is 80s guitar stuff, i suggest you buy paul gilberts intense rock "both dvds" listen to eddie van halen, yngwie, paul gilbert, cc devile, michael angelo, jason becker, and i suggest you to practice bending and vibrato alot since is the most important think and practice picking with a metronome very slow the most accurate and with less movement as possible.

  • look on google for toni lloret yngwie malmsteen style, im pretty sure that book will help yoou it is pretty damn good, has many malmsteen songs and licks

  • steel panther eh? i'll check him out...i love his work during Fight albums....

  • Fuckin Amazing!!!!! I love Steel Panther, Im glad he finally made it, should have happened 20 years ago!!! He is definitly one of my alll time favs!!!!!!

  • The sad thing is by 92 this style of play had become passe', Russ is getting his due tho now through the mighty Steel Panther.

  • how old is this guy now if this was early 90's?

  • He's about 39 I think

  • 666 Views! .. a fuckin amazing guitar player

  • he deserved more recognition than he got back then...

  • One of my most favorite guitarists, hands down! I wish I could hear & see more of this guy.

  • Russ is one of my favorites as well. I used to see the Atomic Punks all the time when he was the guitarist. He's a really nice guy as well. After he left I lost interest. If you ever get a chance, check out Steel Panther if they tour in your area. It's a great rock show!

  • hes the lead guitarist in Steel panther, look them up there great

  • Oh, rest assured, I have. I take whatever it is that Russ is offering. Definately a master on his instrument!
