I never liked how to get this ending, especially when you are required to bash Stephanie with a baseball bat repeately while she is begging for her life. First time I got this ending, I had to turn down the volyme (seriously) made me feel really bad about it.
you know, i think this is actually the GOOD ending, because the main character is alive and " happy ", and those other guys " created a serial killer " (what they wanted, so they're happy too)
so, if at the end everybody is happy then that must be the GOOD ending ^_^
Basically, a normal person is playing a brutal and twisted game in which he virtually murders people, while you, a normal person, are playing a brutal and twisted game in which you as Steve virtually murder people, and in the end you see Steve playing a brutal and... well.
The entire game is about the old "Video games are corrupting things that make kids violent" -hysteria that's been going for, hell, decades now, and it takes that concept to the extreme.
Continuing, this ending is pretty much a full circle. A kid, on a computer, playing an infamous ("That thing?") and violent game called Harvester.
Sound familiar?
And you have a parent, representing all the parents saying "(Violent) games are horrible and should be banned!"
You ARE Steve. Your parents or authority figures are Steve's mother who fear YOU are or will be a violent killer. YOU played Harvester, the game that turns people such as Steve (you) into serial killers.
Harvester was created to be as offensive, violent and twisted possible. It was created to be the archetype of the "killer game", and all its audacity reaches the very top in this ending in which, indeed, the normal young guy got turned into a serial killer because of the very game he stars in.
It's basically a gigantic, audacious "Fuck you" to the people and media portraying games as the Devil's tools. Like the ultimate monument of defiance.

Gamers of all ages, starting with the ones playing in the late 1970's like me, were sick and tired of the media blaming violence on videogames, and this game was a slap in the face to the media, to show what a real violent and sociopath video game would be. It's very funny actually, I laugh hard remembering the press cover over this game, back in the day :D

@ceddiebear and Roadrunner probably has the worst language of all the cartoon characters. obviously, they have to keep it clean for TV, so they have to put sounds over his constant cursing....
I loved this game. The characters and dialogue in the game are some of the best in gaming. It was one twisted game, even by today's standards. The ending was not bad considering the sort of endings they had back then which usually consisted of several static screenshots with background music.
I love that little red glow on his face. this game had it all. way ahead of it's time
