MyDad still has this vinyl album, Going Places and SRO! I'm glad he's got that nifty doodad that lets you burn a copy of vinyl, 45's, cassettes and from a CD. This group was so smooth. It was such a nice change from the hard pounding rock of the time. It gave people something to dance to. I don't know if people even dance any more. I love my AC/DC and all that but lets face it, you can't dance to it.
LEMON TREE:..'67/'68 high sch days @ Carpenter High..lost a precious friend/band-mate Larry Karpenko in that yr..forever smiling/joking..we both played the trumpet in the hi sch band..his knees were giving him "pain"..funny.. songs capture/highlite ur greatest 'unforgettable' moments in life..sad or happy..same yr I went on a Student Exchange..4 scoring 100% on a French exam..hi sch was such a bitter sweet time of my life..couldnt have asked 4 anything better...
Lemon Tree..brings me back to '67/'68 high school days @ Carpenter High when I lost a friend Larry Karpenko..we were in the Hi Sch band and we both played the trumpet..a precious friend..always smiling..his knees were giving him "pain"..songs are 'perpetual' reminders..they 'highlite' and 'store' unforgettable moments in life..hey THANKS BigJoe
This was the first album I had available to listen to with my first record player when I was 5 yrs. old. (43 years ago) Since that time I've become a fan of many many artists from Frank Sinatra to Ozzy Osbourne BUT...if I were stranded on a desert island with only one choice, it would be Whipped Cream & Other Delights. So, thank you Herb for the wonderful array of music that you provided us. Your music, your art and you yourself are timeless. God bless and keep you.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....love love love it thanx for posting...memories from my childhood sitting at my dad's hi-fi listening to Herb Alpert over and over
@gwennwittig Yeh, I remember that too. I remember going into the record bin and playing all these classic songs and albums. I was never the same since and now realize I was blessed to know my dad had great musical taste. Lot's of fond memories although sad he and my mom are gone.
The guy was genius. Loved this album.
