  • Planes DRAG hahaha!

  • Its a lot more amazing when their going the other direction, they pass you like bullets, first time I seen it was over Northern China, not all that shocking

  • Love the zoom on your camera

  • Lmao Like stone says, as long as there's 1000ft between you it doesn't affect

  • Separation >1 mile, >1000'. No problem at all.

  • FUCK TRAFFIC :D

  • I fly for a living and I see MANY planed every time I fly, EVERY. I even see military stuff we are not supposed to. That plane is 2,000 feet below you and over a good mile or two.

  • i've seen them go by the other direction closer than that at the same altitude.

  • race!!

  • watch?v=BdfAq0vTILk

  • 1000 feet of separation

  • Yes they can fly that close at those altitude.

  • What Zhee344 said...

  • That's a pretty nice plane window. The ones I've seen are usually little dual pane shitty cloudy plastic

  • you filmed that off your tv lol

  • planes fly this close on a daily basis for over 30 years now... this is not uncommon at all

  • I was waiting for that to get more exciting. And then it didn't

  • I think that his friend just went outside on the wing and held a toy plane there with string.

  • I've flown many times less than you, and I've seen it. It's not as rare an occurrence as you suspect, and clearly not as dangerous as you think. Ever seen the Blue Angels? ;)

  • As an airline pilot i would guess that these two planes are 2000 feet apart. The minimum vertical sepatation is 1000 feet. However since they are travelling in the same direction in cruise flight, they must be 2000 feet aprt vertically. Also remember that these are HUGE machines...several hundred feet long, so they appear closer than they really are.

  • , the camera is actually 26.5 cm from the window so the disistance to the plane is 26/00.05=1294cm-12.60klm so the plane is 7100x further,, thus it IS actually right out side the window

  • yep they do

  • OMG YOU WERE SO CLOSE...come on now watch the Blue Angels now they get close to each other not this

  • @teddyballgame31

'' tnmnnyc'' not enough space in the scy... =DDD

  • its a race

  • Aircraft can be within 1000 feet vertically.

  • Each plane must be seperated by 1000 feet or 5km

  • @heysization Holy shit, 5km and 1000 ft are WAY different, 5 km is like 2 miles/ 10,000 ft

  • @TheMontanaDave no, thats like 3 miles.....

  • @bhearts77 1km is equals to .61 miles, roughly.

  • @bhearts77 you missed my point by .... miles...

  • Zhee334 very good maths genius I see never thought they'll bring hardcore maths to YouTube

  • Thats fine. They only need 1000ft of vertical seperation.

  • This is flight simulator

  • Dayuumm Ma mans Zhee344 knows what hes talkin bout

  • looks ok to me!

  • ever heard of the red arrows? How many seconds till impact do you normally drive?

what is your reaction time? Still have a problem with the distance?

  • ever heard of the red arrows? How many seconds till impact do you normally drive?

    what is your reaction time?

  • ever heard of the red arrows? How many seconds till impact do you normally drive?

  • ever heard of the red arrows?

  • the cars are going how close how fast?

    relative to waht?

  • in our plane we started climbing hard and we were all like wtffffffffffffffffffffffff and the plane was shaking , and the captain said that we had a warning about a incoming plane a head of uss... scary shit

  • mind blowing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • did you crash? did the other plane crash? no then errything went according to plan

  • are you supposed to use cameras on planes?

  • They are 2 aircraft established on a Jet Route (think highway of the sky). Per JO7110.65 (FAA Air Traffic Control Regulation) Chapter 4 Section 5 para 1 subpara B only 2000 feet vertical separation is needed between aircraft. For instance if you are at 36000 the aircraft above/below you only needs to be at 2000 different altitude. For same direction 4000 separation is used because opposite direction traffic, uses the 2000ft intermediate altitudes.

  • Obama Airlines.. For when you just don't give a flying fuck!

  • @911firefight No, that would be the dead head Bush you are talking about..

  • 1.4 miles away you say. Lets say that airplane is travelling 600 miles an hour. Thats 10 miles a minute and a mile every 6 seconds. So those planes are about 9 seconds from hitting each other. That doesn't sound so far does it :P

  • @xitsej clearly they are going the same direction, but nice attempt at showing brains...

  • Cool video, but it isn't that close. Awesome to see the trail like that though.

  • Agreed with many others here, on any one given flight I usually see at least 2 planes about this close whizzing by. :D

  • recorded with the highest quality toaster

  • It's much more fun to see them going another direction when they are that close, but that is not uncommon.

  • I've been on many flights where I can see other planes. Over certain air spaces it's pretty common.

  • very common

  • The minimal vertical separations between 2 airplane is 1000 feet.

  • Did that tag say.."If you can read this .. you're too close".?

  • So you can have a camera on a plane but not a bottle of water...

  • OMG CHEMTRAILS...... It's a conspiracy... Call Alex Jones.

  • Lol they should have like 10 jumbo jets fly in formation lol

  • Öhh yes...

  • whers an Rpg when u need one

  • ITS A RACE!

  • last time I flew in a plane I saw several others in the air as we approached miami.

  • The plane is further than you think. Check the unzoomed shots. Looks like an Airbus A320, so 38m long. Its size at the window looks about 0.5cm, so it is 7600x bigger than it appears (3800/0.5). Theory of similar triangles says it is therefore 7600x further away. Guessing the camera is 30cm from the window, the distance to the plane is 3800/0.5 x 30 = 228000cm - 2280m or 2.3km or 1.4 miles! Even if the camera is just 10cm from the window, the plane would still be 760m away (2493 feet).

  • @Zhee344 I did not know what you just said (in a good way) xD

  • @Zhee344 If you were my Math teacher...I'd never be in the dark with Math ever again...

  • @Zhee344 Very nice reply.. but still very cool.. I've never seen anything like that on a commercial flight.

  • @Zhee344 You sir, Are a fucking Genius.

  • @Zhee344 You are like ummmm mathgician, is that the right word, yea?

  • @Zhee344 BOFFIN

  • @Zhee344 What the fuck?

  • @Zhee344 if i wanted to learn math, i would pay attention to my professor.... what a nerd

  • @Zhee344 can i just have your brain?? :)

  • @Zhee344 And then they say math is useless...

  • @Zhee344 first time i see a math comment in youtube

  • @Zhee344 i have no idea about wtf u said

i just nodded my head to make it seem like i know what your talking about

  • @Zhee344 Umm whhhat?

  • @Zhee344 Wow

  • @Zhee344 You know your planes and maths.

  • @Zhee344 seriously?! lol

  • @Zhee344 stfu professor

  • @Zhee344 Thats only 250 Meters from the plane. I dont care what it is in feet they are outdated. So are miles and ounces.

  • @neephius how long is a meter?

  • @blackjack502 A meter is 3.28 feet

  • @blackjack502 Little over 3 feet

  • @Zhee344 I wish you had been my math teacher.

  • @Zhee344 Yes yes I agree. I also came to that conclusion... Oh wait you say it's not opposite day? Never mind then. Zhee334 if I ever make it to who wants to be a millionaire can I call you?

  • thats pretty normal actualy......ATC generaly keep airlines 1000ft above or below....nice video tho.

  • Do you think there is a youtube video from that plane of this one? What a MIND FUCK!!!!

  • @bigpoppa0518 Hah

  • circle atlanta's airport and you can have a conversation with someone on another plane

  • I've seen numerous other planes while flying...never that close, but just look out the window more and you'll see...

  • I think it's time you know... Airplanes fly under two types of "rules" IFR or VFR, Visual Flight rules require that the pilot have good visibility at all times to fly. If visibility drops below an certain amount they are forced to return or land ASAP, that also means no flying into clouds. IFR means your flying under Instruments. This means a flight plan has been submitted and the pilot is being guided turn by turn where to go and how high to go. Airliners use IFR.

  • I was flying from Las Angeles to San Antonio back in May and I saw a plane about the same distance apart.

  • Come on guys the pilots just wanted to race eatch other. Its just a little sport lol

  • They are allowed to fly that close if they have TCAS on and are flying under IFR rules

  • Enjoy the in-flight movie on the plane next to you.

  • this is like seeing 2 cars on a middle of nowhere country road. you don't see it often, but there is only 1 way to get to their destination

  • LOL Thats SO FAR AWAY!! LOL people really should know more about aviation!! 2000ft separation vertically or 5miles laterally, and also when I fly little planes in circuits its 500ft minimum separation. There is nothing to worry about!!

  • @pilotcharlesH17 Im pretty sure thats not 5 miles away laterally...

  • Ok I really dont want to go through every rule il be here all night. But that aircraft is easily 5miles away. Anyone who thinks that is less should go get there eyes checked out!! have you ever been to an airport?? and seen an aircraft at the other end of the runway?? there atleast 2km away and usually 3 to 4km away. and the aircraft still looks big. also if everyone on here is so blind anyone notice they zoom in with the camera??? Im a pilot and can easily pick distances!

  • @tyrellarson And dont get me started on spacing laws there's that many of them!! Depending on if you VFR,IFR,Tracking via radar's, And then there's all sorts of laws on what is crossing a flight path. And they are at different flight levels so the rules change again and rules change at certain altitudes. To everybody thinking that is close maybe you should go buy a airlaw book. That isnt even close I reacon you could almost fit another aircraft in between!

  • Interesting! If it goes west and your plane goes east.... the first one should be gone this way to the west...you know?...weird!

  • Its at least 4 miles away, perceptions change up there, its a MyTravel 767, a pretty big aircraft, and both pilots are fully aware the other is there, and this isnt even considered close. (its when one passes 1000ft below going the opposite way u that u realise how fast ur actually going!)

  • then I guess u have not travelled enough!

  • of course not retard

  • They're flying in the same direction so it's a 2000 ft separation vertically or 5 miles laterally.

  • Yes actually looks closer of what rely is not only is a few miles away but different altitude!

  • its only like been on the road where cars drive close to you lol, there can be planes with 1000ft separating between the two of you in certain airspace. which i would say this is about 1000ft separation

  • soon we will have airpolice stopping them mid air or something xD

  • Oh no! The engines is gonna eat the little plane D:. Fly little bird! Fly! Nuuuuuu!

  • Quite safe

  • I've been on flights from the UK to Canada loads of times where planes have flown this close before. Not that unusual.

  • clown!

  • get over it ya your flying next to a plane soo cool

  • i've seen HUNDREDS!!! just look out the window before take-off xDDDD

  • Yeah I've been that close on a transatlantic flight, it's fairly common, and I actually felt a bit more secure for some reason..

  • WTF am i supposed to do with this vid. I just spend 2 minutes just looking at this before realizing I couldn't use this for anything good. Total waste of 3 minutes of lifetime...

  • @bobi133 Let's face it, you're on youtube so you wouldn't have used those 3 minutes productively anyway.

  • Yes......they are allowed to fly that close with a separation of 500 foot vertically and under a controller.

  • @PilotMan7069 ICAO, Reduced Vertical Separation Minima above FL290 1,000 feet.

  • a zillion times. Damn you must be rich. lol

  • Bro, did the captain say you could turn on your electronics? I mean, cummon man, who cares about the other plane. Your camera was ON! Next thing you'll tell me is your phone wasn't in airplane mode. AIRPLANE MODE MAN!

  • @tedsports1 Actually, they only enforce that during take off and landings I believe. Even so, it's only a precaution. Typically a jet should be shielded against the interference.

  • Wait until it hits 88 miles per hour... then you're gonna see some serious shit!

  • @gringodeltoro1 Yes I flew in similar manner, but the plane was approaching straight towards me on my right side window, and It looked that it will hit

  • @gringodeltoro1 DOC!!!

  • we also passed a plane flying slightly lower altitude in opposite direction. that was amazing to see the speed

  • we flew to tunisia and had another plane flying directly beneath us much closer than this

  • Perfectly normal, they will be a minimum of 1000' vertically seperated.

  • Close is ok , as long as you don't touch.

  • Congratulations you suck at filming.

  • I've seen stuff like this a lot flying. One time, over Croatia (on the way to Greece) another plane shot past below us going in a different direction and at the same time one above, it was a cool sight to see how they stack the planes to keep them a safe distance apart.

  • next to a air port yes!

  • therefore Alians ...

  • This is where you see an engine fall off that plain and you turn to the person next to you and say "I think the engine just fell off that plain" :D

  • yeah. a plane has to maintain a 5 mile horizontal separation and a 1000 feet vertical separation. However, if two planes are in sight of each other, they can be told to maintain visual separation. But yeah, this is normal.

  • Ive had a plane cross our path. It made a wooshing noise and looked as close to us as when you zoom in to the footage above. Everyone else on the plane was asleep I was like "OMG didnt anyone else see that." I felt like I was in the twilight zone.

  • omg that no even close

  • borrrrring. crash and die already.

  • As the plane is flying in the same direction as you it's probably 2000 feet below you. However, it's quite possible that a plane, flying in the opposite direction would fly between you and the the plane below and that would be perfectly normal sight in an RVSM Airspace.

  • Completely normal, ive been way closer to one then in this video. Btw, its looks close but in reality its further then you think.

  • aff xd , the distance by the low is 300 mitres , they are more than 300 mitres then is legal , is correct

  • You were obviously flying along the same jetway.

  • what flight were you on?

  • its a race , the one who land first pick up more passengers.lol

  • you're no camera man, that's for sure. cool event, tho.

  • Yes when airport has two runways for landing it happens all the time...

  • try looking out the window more

  • I've always seen other planes when flying - but not that close. Quite a startling video. Most of the planes I see are way below or far away zooming off in other directions and at terrific speed.

  • @KnightSquared On busy air routes this happens all the time. Get 2 similarly powered aircraft and they'll cruise at similar levels, but air traffic control ensure at least 1000' verticle separation, while not sounding like much, is plenty. Now when you can tell how many fingers the pilot is holding up...that's close!

  • lol ever had a plane go right under you? like just 5 metres under you didn think so

  • I started to notice tight traffic over ocean flights. Likely so planes at least have a visual of others in the event of an emergency?

  • Planes can fly with 1000 ft separation, that´s normal man ;). you caught something really unusual but it´s ok.

  • 1 mile of vertical separation, 5 miles of lateral separation

  • that is the longest drag race ever

  • The coolest is seeing a plane headed in the other direction. Talk about FAST!!

  • swweeet my travel a321dude!

  • who ever thinks planes do not fly this close needs to do some research this happens eveyday of the week especially high altitude flight over the atlantic they are at different flight levels and the pilots are well aware that the other plane is there.

  • I think you guys are winning!! Ya!! Ok pay up.

  • Happens all the time - depending on traffic density. Fly into Sydney sometime.

  • well then i am pretty sure u havent flown over uk

  • I have flown about 10 ten times all over England and France and have seen other planes nearby about 5 times

  • RVSM Airspace

  • You are exagerating the closeness by zooming in with your camera.

  • Then you need to keep your eyes open more. The ones that are coming from the opposite direction are awesome to watch go by at a relative 1100 MPH!! It really is amazing to see. That plane looks like he has a good 5,000 feet separation. No problem. The pilots are probably just drag racing.

  • i have seen a plane crossing may be 300 ft above the plane i was travelling from portugal to norway... it's ok! i believe

  • Sir, please turn off your electric device.

  • my dad is a pilot he flies a boeing 777 and they have to be 2 miles apart

  • Comment removed

  • they're having a race :)

  • the proximity is probably not that unusual but I think it's very unusual for them to fly together like that. might be borderline dangerous because they may not be able to see each other and could slowly drift into each other
