PhazonJuke was defenitely the weakest part of the performance but it was good for a high school performance. I think an issue was the language barrier as well, swahili just doesnt sound as natural from a native english speaker
I was so ridiculously nervous to do this. I had never had such an important part before. Also in the rehearsal the mic wasn't working so i didn't know how i should have actually sang into it. But i tried my hardest and the crowd liked it, which is all that mattered to me. :)
Ok then go find the guy who did hold the camera :P But I disagree The song is swaying song Live and feel the music - dont be american and stand still and straight.
Otherwise its on par with every other American version of baba yetu - well sung but does not capture the essence, swinging and swaying doesnt come into the american choir handbook. Mark me down but the evidence is clear throughout utube.
As for the swaying and swinging, that is not what the songs about. See the video games live version, you know, where this song comes from. No ones swaying and singing.
Not even Christopher Tin the composer of the song (also the one who sings the solo) swings and sways around.
Look at all professional groups... Such as Chanticleer and such. Notice they all have folders just in case any of them need to look over something. We don't read from the folders it's just for reference and presentation.
Its at the discretion of the director^^ My HS choir used folders for reference because of our very small amount of practice time^^ But in Walt Disney World in Florida when I sang in the candlelight processional I had to commit everything to memory because we were holding candles^^ the voices of liberty a professional group I've seen does not use folders. Nor does 1 of our 2 local universities while the other does^^ Now that thats out of the way lmao I loved your performance^^ great job!
Exactly, at music in the parks and such we don't use our folders and such. Any and all competitions actually we don't use our folders, but for concerts and such we do.
Sometimes you go too far away from main voice :P

Being as that i was the soloist i can tell you one thing for certain. This was not my best performance.
This was my first like, serious solo infront of a packed auditorium and i was nervouse as hell and didn't do the solo as well as i normally did.
You can tell by just looking at my face actually. xD

Thanks, and my mom was recording it. She's... as you say technologically challenged.
But, really Christopher Tin didn't dance, so it's not necessary. :P

@PhazonJuke Christopher Tin was not the soloist in the original recording. Ron Ragin from Talisman Acapella was.

one of the better versions although like all american versions people dont sway or move singing this - whis its supposed to be a song to sway to
Kaldhore 2 years ago
Go to video games live, or even watch a live recording of this song from the man himself.. Christopher Tin.
It's a song for a video game. You are not supposed to sway, nor dance.

Amazing song...the words should be changed to Baby Yeti though...it would make it even more amazing!

Lol. A baby yeti.
I don't think that it would have the same effect if it was baba yeti though.
