@goinggreenlee Oh yes he can! Every successful team has one guy or girl who exhibits leadership and many ways that others recognize and are willing to follow.
Shouldn't modesty be on here? How do you think Walt Frazier got so eminent? He was probably the best on his team and when everybody was freaking out in a desperate situation, he just stayed calm and cool and got the job done. I don't get why so many people respect Rose and Lebron for getting the job done, but screaming at the top of their lungs into the camera and pounding on their chest a few seconds later.
@tigers121998 Yes, we do not buy into all the "Ego demonstrations" by players either. It is so much about look at me, look what I did! Walt Frazier was a super intense player, but he was able to hold it in and not let it be apparent to others, but believe he was as competitive as anyone you would ever meet.
@jm0118 Thanks for your question. Chase decided to end his basketball career after college to do other things. He is raising a family now. He did not feel that he was a player of the level, but thanks for asking.
Ok so i'm the best player on my team and I want to help my teammates become better for the upcoming school tournament. I REALLY want a championship. I just love the game of basketball! It's just that my teammates don't understand the game of basketball at all! They're immature. They don't take these tournaments seriously. Last year, we lost in the semis to a HORRIBLE team. Every time we screwed up on a play, we didn't recover from that failed play! Any tips?
@SSCUltimateAero77 Please review this video and note that one key element is "being a good team mate." Support your team mates, encourage them. Usually players who do not get serious about the game are those we are not very skilled and therefore have very little confidence. Remember, "ALL YOU CAN DO, IS WHAT YOU CAN DO!" You cannot change who they are, but encourage, support, befriend them, and do the best you can do!
@BazhoFromTheHood Chase finished his basketball career by playing for a U.S.A. team traveling in Australia in 2006. He unfortunately suffered an ACL injury recently playing basketball which has him sidelined for 6-8 months. He just plays for recreation now. Thanks for your very nice comment.
@naruto575988 Usually true , but not always! You like to have your PG be the leader as he has the ball in his hands more than anyone else and has to make a lot of decisions. Chase was the BEST!!
and... any tip for dont getting ¨choke¨?? when we are practicing i can do anything, make 3's score from everywhere, nice passes, lay-ups... but, when the real game starts, i get nervous my hands shakes and i become the worst... any advice??
@Kd4Master Well, there is little question that you are playing "in fear of screwing up!" You cannot play that way and be successful. Expect that you are going to play hard and what ever happens, happens. Every player in the world, including those in the NBA make errors. It's part of the game. When you begin worrying about screwing up usually that's what happens. Relax and play your game and no worries about errors.
@tsourdinis5: Well, the key to success for you and your team mates is to forge a good relationship while you play. Basketball is a "Team game" where each player must rely on each other to win games. If you are divided you will probably not be very successful..You do not have to like each other but you must
"TRUST EACH OTHER" and build a bond for your common goals!!!!!
i made the freshman basketball team and the coach told us today if we gonna start or not and i got the 8th man rotation because he says that i dont show confidence with the ball and i dont have court sense can you give me some tips... and he said that if i had both of them i could start..
@Ballerbasnet10: Well, confidence and court sense are the direct result of spending a lot of time working on your skills. When you have done this your confidence will improve. The court sense is something that we develop by playing a lot of basketball. We refer to this as "Aptitude for the game." Understanding what is happening and how to respond is critical to becoming an outstanding player. You can develop this, but it may take some time. Get to work!
hey coach.. i think i have the skills but i think i lack self confidence in the court. i get intimidated by some guys who's better than i am. can u help me??
@17bigsam: Hey bigsam, confidence is the key. When you can trust yourself you can become a leader. There are many players who are not great players, but are really good leaders. Don't allow other players to intimidate you because you think they are better. If you are solid, physically strong, mentally tough and take charge you will be respected by your team and your opponents. We often lack confidence because we question our skill level. Don't let that get in the way!!!!!! Go for it.
wow you guys make the best videos last year i was only scoring around 4 points per game but ive been training all year and watching your videos and how to jump high and i score around 20 pints per game now and i can nearley dunk! im 15 5'11 small foward how tall do you think i will end up being??
@tefari12345: Hey tefani, were are so excited for you and now the hard work will pay off. We have no idea how tall you may become. Individuals differ a lot and there is a lot of how tall your parents are that dictates how tall we will become. Have patience if you are only 5'11". You still have time to grow some more.
not to be cocky but im prorbably the best player on my team but last season (rookie season) i didnt play that good so what if my coach doesn't put me on the starting 5 ive beat all of my teamates at recess but my coach has never seen me on my best and he kinda makes me nervous please tell me how to get noticed enough while my coach is watching?
@coolusername25: Our best advice is to play with confidence and not too be too flashy with your game. Coaches love guys who are solid first and foremost. They
want guys who work hard on both offense and defense. EFFORT is a real winner for most coaches. Good luck and let us know how it goes for you.
This summer I'm not sure if I'm the hardest working player in my school
im going to be a freshman and i work 2hrs every day 1 hour practicing my skill the other hour conditioning. I think i could become the best player but not the best teammate because i'm not that social
@ShotScience im only 5'2" but im pretty good.My 8th grade year is coming and i know everyone will be taller and i havent been growin much lately so i need help handling taller guys. im a point guard and good at driving into the middle but i have a hard time getting around the big posts that are waiting for me. what can i do to increase my chances of makin it under the basket against taller guys.
@bob12551255: Hey bob, you have to remember that you don't have to challenge the bigs when you get inside. When you penetrate the defense it usually collapses on you and leaves your teammates open at the perimeter. Look to get them the ball. Please check out our video "Nine finishes at the rim." These are some ways you can score on the bigs. You must practice them, but they work. Recommend picking a couple and working on them. Good luck.

hey chase hey i did not make my team this year becaues of cheatin that was going on . but when i go out there again for summer league how can i face them with them sayin that i dont have leadership
You have to let your game do all the talking. Don't let what other people think or say dictate how you play. Go out there, be confident, and shut them down with your awesome play. Keep us updated!
We're working on the ball handling drills, but there is a great drill for improving your shot in a video we call "Form Shooting." Also, check out the "Mikan Drill" video.
Are you taking the steps to become a leader now? It would be great if you realized these things and then put into action the steps to become the leader for your team. Let us know if you're using some of the tips from the video because that would be awesome!!
The video editor we use is Final Cut, but this video also used a little bit of iMovie.
Thanks for the comment and great channel you have there!!
It's all about confidence!!!! You have to work on your skills so that you're ready for competitive play, but you also have to have the mentality that you are going to do what you will against the defense. If you let your mind take you out of the game, then your defender has already beat you without even trying. Maybe try some of the techniques that Chase talks about in the Mental Imagery video. That will help you prepare yourself before you even step on the court. Let us know how it goes!
There are a few things you can do to get over the nervousness... first, set up a mental imagery routine (see visualize the win video) and imagine yourself playing against those good players. If you have competed against them in your head over and over it will seem like you've done it before when you actually do play them. Secondly, have confidence in your skill and dont be afraid to fail miserably! If you fail, you just get right back up and go at it again!
Yes, the "Mental Rehearsal" video is a really important one that many people probably overlook! It can give you that extra edge that your opponent neglected!
And Tom are there any excercises to become a more accurate and better shooter that you would recommend? This would be very helpful because basketball tryouts for my school team are in 2 weeks and i need to get better at shooting so i have a better chance of at least making it on theteam at all. Thanks four your consideration! Please Post!
there is one guy on my team that is so addicted to winning that he dives for every lose ball and takes every charge, but he averages 4.5 pts on the reason along with 5.2 rpg and 1.2 asts. He is probably going to be the captain next year.
This guy sounds like a good candidate. Even if you are not the leading scorer you may have other attributes that you a person that other players will recognize as leaders. Hope he turns out to be a strong leader for your team!
Marcus: That's great. You are fortunate because not too many guys have that ability. Are you a great teammate? Remember, that's a very important quality. Keep up the good work and continue to lead, lead, lead!! We are rooting for you.
i shoot well in practice.. but i seem to shoot very slow in game. when i grab the ball, my finger get all scrambled and it takes time to get my finger in position.. im using the so called "up rhytym" yet, finger positioning wastes me time.
Today, was one of the great basketball days I have :) not to boast though, I made alot of 3 points today :) thanks to your techniques, Everyone respects me especially when it comes to basketball, But I also lost a championship qualifying match :(
but thanks to your videos, I learned like?? A BILLION OF THINGS!
We like your video, because, when a younger person talks about those crucial things,it has a much higher influence on kids, which shows important later on for them..Thx...
This makes me so happy :) I would really love to show my skills and how much I developed but, I'm not allowed to bring my camera to school due to snatchers :(
I think you have it, Chase! One question I would ask, Are you sure the Best Leader has to be the Best Player? What if you are the best player just because you were given more skills? i.e., are the Koby Bryants the best leaders?
Being the best player or a good player is just one facet of being a leader. Kobe Bryant could never play hard and be a horrible teamate and still be viewed as a leader by his teamates based on the respect he gets simply by being the best. Leaders come in any combination of those three facets, but those who have all three are the truly great leaders... Steve Nash, Jordan, etc.
thanks for all the tips. Y'all have helped my game bunches. Keep it up

This makes me so happy :) I would really love to show my skills and how much I developed but, I'm not allowed to bring my camera to school due to snatchers :(
I'm so good at basketball now :)
