i have a lot of these with my 3 or 4 triops. mostly the bigger triops would use them as slave's just by scaring them, soon they pick up a very small gravel and put where the bigger triop wants it. i call fairy abuse!
These animals were wild caught, so some probably just have injuries and deformities from living in their natural environment. Thanks for your comments!
@kratos3111 i can, my fairy shrimps hatch'ed with my triops on christmas and it was very cold, and your right its all about the temp, if you have a lamp, shine on the eggs and wait till they hatch, also if you have a heater that plugs in use it, it will make the room 74'F-80'F and the cold temp will be 22'C-29'C, good enough for the fairy shrimps to hatch and in right temp. hope this help'ed.
While brine and fresh water species all fall under the genus Artemia; it is true that the term "fairy shrimp" is often used to classify the fresh water examples while the generic term "brine shrimp" often blankets all of the salt water species. Sea-Monkeys is the brand name for brine shrimp sold in hatching kits/ aquarium pets in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom since 1960. Google "Anostraca" for more information on 300 species, grouped into 26 genera in eight families.
Sorry, Pieishman, you are wrong: "Artemia franciscana...Most kids who read comic books, or anyone interested in the aquatic creatures sold in pet shops, know of "sea monkeys". Buy a packet of "eggs" (cysts), add a pinch of these to some salty chloride-laden water (sea water does just fine), and presto, instant life!" re: Fairy Shrimps of California's Puddles, Pools and Playas by Clyde Eriksen and Denton Belk, Published 1999, Mad River Press, Inc.
Firstly, fairyshrimp are freshwater, not saltwater like brine shrimp. Also, sea monkeys are a human made mix breed of brine shrimp, not the same thing.

Can anyone please tell me how to get the right temp?
I live in Australia and its Winter. So when i poured the water purifier in,
they did not hatch 5 days after that. I think its because of temp.
Anyone can help?
