Hi Lee.... Just wondering... The inside of your right arm looks very blue/dark when you are doing the crunches. Did you hurt it or is it just the color on video that tricks my eyes?? I guess your not trying to pull of a "Jay Cutler" ...LOL :)
If you go to the point in the video at 2:18 and read the text in the upper right hand corner of the video I actually explain what happened to my arm. I guess you were too busy looking at my arm to read the text on the screen LOL :-)
LOL... I have absolutely no idea how I missed that:) But I guess it's a complement to your arms, since they they steal all focus from that HUGE text box:) And thanks for clearing things up...
Mr. Lee, I started training in October and there has been results in my arms and traps. I am however lagging on the legs and reducing the waist. Please can you reply with litttle advice?
Reducing the waist comes down to diet and cardio. You can go to my website LeeHayward . com and download a Free Copy of my "Bodybuilding Quick Start Kit" this has some good training and nutrition tips that will help you in these areas.
Resting your head on your hands actually takes pressure off the neck and spine, it's pulling on your head that can strain the neck, there's a HUGE difference.
I have no idea, as I haven't weighed myself in a few weeks... But if I had to guess I'd say around 210 pounds.
The place we are staying at doesn't have any scales, heck they don't even have a TV, radio, or cell phone reception... It's 100% peace and quiet which is nice for a change. I've had to go to the local restaurant to access the internet just to post these videos.
@leemhayward Wow! Thanks so much for the effort, Lee. That dedication combined with the info you share i why you're an awesome onlin fitness guru. Keep it up!
LOL if you actually go to 2:25 and read the text in the upper right hand corner of the video you'll see that I explain what happened to my arm. I guess you were too busy looking at my arm to read the text on the screen LOL :-)
(cont'd)...there is even talk he kicked people out of his gym when he saw them doing crunch movements. Do you disagree with him, and do you have any evidence to disprove his ideas?
Of course I disagree with this. I believe that you should train your abs, core, and hip flexors. I think having a strong core is worth the risk of thickening the waist a tad bit. Vince Gironda had a lot of good advice, but you need to take everything you hear and evaluate it for yourself to see if it makes sense or not. That even applies to what I teach here, don't just take everything on blind faith, evaluate it for yourself first. Then if you feel it makes sense, do it.
@leemhayward He uses stomach vaccums, to strengthen the inner abdominal wall, it slims the waste, and if done correctly, can be used as a natural weight belt. over strengthening the hip flexors and outter abdominals can lead to poor posture ive read, i do a mix of both.
Hey lee, i thought it was interesting the positive idea you have about strengthening your hip flexors. I find it interesting mainly because i see you support and believe in alot of vince gironda's ideas and mindsets. I have read that vince gironda feels one should never do any crunching movements but instead rely only on vacuums to bring out abdominals because of all the negative aspects he believed strengthening your hip flexors had. I was wondering what your take on this was,...
Yes, you still need to work the muscles to maintain a strong core. Abs assist with virtually ever exercise you do as supporting and stabilizing muscles.
You don't have to put the same energy into training abs as you do say training a major muscle group like legs, chest, or back. But you still need to train them regularly.
Lee I am wondering a couple things. I noticed your lower back isn't flat when you were doing the ab work. I do not feel it at all unless I push my lower back into the ground when doing ab work is this good or bad? Also do you naturally have a large rib cage?
When you have a fairly arge upper back and large glutes, your lower back isn't going to lay totally flat on the floor (or surf board in this case). But it doesn't matter, all that matter is that you focus on squeezing your abs and feeling them contract as you do the exercises.
As for my rib cage, it has gotten bigger as I've gotten thicker in the chest and torso. I wasn't always this thick.
Just a note, I did post this video a 2nd time. I had to increase the volume of the video so you can hear my voice over the waves. It's still not good, but it is better then the first video I posted.
