The story was perfectly real, but not entirely. Only to a certain extent it was real, not sure if the officers are real, but back then the massacre was real but I don't think it was as brutal as directors make it seem. It was for sure brutal, but he didn't kill that many people, I honestly don't know, no one has any right to say its' not real unless they have phsycical proof it never existed, which isn't possible... there is proof that he was real, again, but directors over exhadurate the story

When a film is BASED on something that is exactly what it means. BASED. People constantly think that that means they are watching a complete account of something that actually happened. If I live in a neighborhood where a guy named Joe kills his wife(one person) with a hatchet, and then I write a story about a Hatchet wielding madman who lives in the mountains and slaughters teenagers, I can theoretically say my film is BASED on true events.

This is not a documented event. I'm sure there could be a family out there like this, but as of yet, there is no such family as the 'Hewitt's.' You should probably check out any serial killer anthology and try to understand that 'Leatherface' is just a mass compilation of multiple serial killers (Gacy, Gein...), and that the idea for the chainsaw used in the films came from the original director of this film after waiting in line at a hardware store. (I'm a criminal justice major at Chapel Hill)
I know this didn't happen and that it was based on Ed Gein and stuff. You must give credit for the makers of this documentary though. It looks very real and realistic, and makes you think twice about the question did it happen or did it not.

When a film is BASED on something that is exactly what it means. BASED. People constantly think that that means they are watching a complete account of something that actually happened. If I live in a neighborhood where a guy named Joe kills his wife(one person) with a hatchet, and then I write a story about a Hatchet wielding madman who lives in the mountains and slaughters teenagers, I can theoretically say my film is BASED on true events.

This is not a documented event. I'm sure there could be a family out there like this, but as of yet, there is no such family as the 'Hewitt's.' You should probably check out any serial killer anthology and try to understand that 'Leatherface' is just a mass compilation of multiple serial killers (Gacy, Gein...), and that the idea for the chainsaw used in the films came from the original director of this film after waiting in line at a hardware store. (I'm a criminal justice major at Chapel Hill)

I know this didn't happen and that it was based on Ed Gein and stuff. You must give credit for the makers of this documentary though. It looks very real and realistic, and makes you think twice about the question did it happen or did it not.

Also he never used a chainsaw. When the movie first came out in the 70's one of the writers was in a crowded department store and wanted to get out right away, he thought if he turned on a chainsaw and let it run it would scare the hell out of the people and they would get out of his way, so thats why they use d a chainsaw. Also when the first movie came out the production company put based on a true story to sell tickets. If any of still belive that its a true story then you should seek help.
