  • This franchise deserves a good reboot. There is so much good material from the classic radio shows and comic books to start with, and visual effects have progressed alot since 1994. I think if they used less "Dick Tracy" style and go for "The Dark Knight" instead, it would be a hit. It'll happen eventually, but it's a shame no one is working on it right now...

  • This movie was awesome. Everyone I know who has ever seen it said it was great. The critics are retarded. This movie was fun to watch which is something movies have long since lost the ability to do, and that's be entertaining. Defiantly sequel worthy will just have to do some recasting. as Alex is a old fat bastard now lol

  • or The Spirit???...

  • now didn't this remind you of Batman Begins???...

  • Why the fuck are critics such bitches?! -.-' This movie wasn't bad...

  • I reached a whole new level of respect for the Shadow after my bro pointed out it was the same guy who played Mr. Conductor in "Thomas and the Magic Railroad". And a whole new level of respect for Mr. Conductor! XD

As a kid, naturally I wouldn't have known Baldwin from too many places.

  • Own the Trilogy.

  • This movie is actually not as bad as they would have you believe. Even the silly bomb chase scene manages to be enterntaining somehow.

  • Este filme é bom!!

  • No wonder this film got bad reviews. This looks awful.

  • Alec Baldwin was a good hero.

John Loan was a good villain.

  • Cool

  • I'm not a huge fan of Alec Baldwin's work, but this one of my faves he's done, along with "Beetlejuice" and "Ghosts of Mississippi". One of my favorite scenes in "The Shadow" is the cab ride with Roy Tam, after he's saved on the bridge.

  • The shadow movie rocks! Alec baldwin was a good choice.

  • Critics considered this film corny, I think its actually just a really good style it was produced in, really one of the best overlooked characters/films so far I would say.

  • If this movie came out today, i guess it could be successful enough to bring sequels. The beginning reminds me a lot of Batman Begins...

  • @PanterAmetal100 It's actually a pretty good film, contrary to the reviews of the time. It has definitely aged well. Same with The Phantom. Saw both of them in theaters during their original runs and loved them then. Still do today.

  • @alucard624 Agreed. And i guess it failed at box office not because of clumsy storytelling or something (that's not my point of view), but because no one gave a shit about both the Shadow and the Phantom, whereas these characters kick major ass. Like Batman is somewhat connected to the Shadow in terms of bringing the justice and so on... You get the point, right?

  • 90's at its best

  • What evil lurks in the heart of men? Only The Shadow knows.....

  • The portrayal of The SHADOW was great, just as it was in the pulps. Problem with the movie is several corny adaptations such as the pneumatic tubes to carry messages--the Shadow received messages and info through Clyde Burke, newpaper reporter and "investment broker" named Mann that was a front for his "organization". Use of the Khan storyline was wrong for a character introduction also, should've went with a different theme--there were some 300 different stories, any one would've been better.

  • i loved this movie.

if it made ALMOST 50 million, i wouldn't call that a box-office failure, less than 10 mil? sure.

  • I have never seen the movie. If you have Sirius radio, it has the radio version of the shadow. XM 82 Radoi Classics

  • I've listened to tapes of the radio show. I had no idea it was made into a movie.

  • This movie proves that God doesn't exist. Because it was great, but failed at the box office. When Batman Forever sucked and was successful.

  • GREAT MOVIE

  • I friggin' love this movie!

  • @000Mariat000

Me too, still don't understand why it flopped.

  • Just finished watching this. I was six the last time I watched it... still good.

  • omg alec baldwin is a faggot

  • Not the best comic book movie but damn! Baldwin could be a perfect bruce wayne

  • darkman!

  • This movie was so horrible. Alec isn't fit to play the role, and he does a horrible acting job in it. And I hate how he's so hairy, ever heard of shaving? And Penelope does a horrible acting job as well. Not to mention how annoying it is that she thinks she's so gorgeous and she's not. When girls have that attitude it just makes them less and less attractive.

  • @haleyteddy03 but...it's an old movie..and a comic-book hero story. it's supposed to be hokey

  • @RoguishBlonde Yeah I get that. But I like it better when they take it seriously.

  • @haleyteddy03 I don't have words to express your fucking gayness and stupidity. You hate he is hairy? What the fuck is your problem you faggot?

  • @raulprima First off, I'm not a guy you fucking idiot, you would've gathered that if you read the name. And secondly hairy guys are gross. So it doesn't make me gay or stupid for not liking it or this movie.

  • @haleyteddy03 EPIC OWNNESS !

  • awesome ass movie

  • The best spin off of 30 Rock by far.

  • This movie was not bad at all ... this character from the radio was one of the 4 things that inspired the batman creation

  • The original caped crusader

  • hahaha, Jack Donagy is....the Shadow!!!

  • out now on blu-ray in germany :)

  • @TheMusic4Soul Would region code B work in the US?

  • @gtmunn no, you need a codefree player :(

  • @gtmunn No but region free dvd players only cost about 60 bucks or so.

  • ive seen this movie like 50x since it came out when i was 7 lol

  • I love the mirror scene. Originally it was supposed to reflect all his past lives

  • Yes!!! I found you!

This movie has been imprinted in my mind the last decade, especially the scene with the magic knife! Such a good childhood film!

  • the shadow reminds me so much of batman

-trained by people to use the shadows as a weapon

    -bachelor by day

    -dark avenger by night

    can't wait to see it

  • @wacfilms With good reason, Shadow is the original :)

  • dont under stand u

  • i LOVE this movie, there needs to be a special edition dvd or some sort of small acknowledgement that this film was made!

  • @spectre0075 I dont understand your statement.

  • Great movie... absolutely great

  • This movie is all kinds of win.

  • One of my favourite movies as a kid^^

  • This was a damned good adaption of the serials/radio programs, I was pleasantly surprised...Balwain was pitch perfect in the role, tho I would have cast a sultry brunette to play Margot Lane...

  • @cecinid I loved this also and I agree with you ..I had always imagined a sultry brunette when I thought of Margo.

  • Futher proof entertainment weekly is a damn joke. They rate this film as one of the worst superhero films.Idiots...

  • @5starwrestlingradio are you serious i never read that that's a load of bull this is one of my favorite films.

  • @5starwrestlingradio I guess there's a reason that its acronym is EW.

  • @5starwrestlingradio yeah the critics are retards.

  • One of the most underrated movies ever! The Shadow needs to come back

  • I saw it in theaters when it came out. As far as comic book adaptations go, The Shadow was underrated. I'm glad they're giving it another shot, though, and I hope Baldwin can be a part of it, in some capacity.

  • Alec Baldwin did a great job. But the script was straight garbage.

  • @GoToRyanMcBainDOTcom Not really, no...listen to some of the classic radio shows, this story mirrors the tone and characters VERY well, IMO...

  • They're talking about making another movie. Good luck. Alec Baldwin is a tough act to follow.

  • @TomatoeAssassin In terms of his preformance, yes. However another story can easily top this one.

  • @5starwrestlingradio I agree. There are other stories out there I'd love to see. And I'm sure I'll enjoy them.

I'm just one of those people that - no matter who takes over - I'll always think of Alec Baldwin as The Shadow.

  • @TomatoeAssassin if Tarantino is writing and directing like they are speculating, then I dont think it will be that tough of an act to follow.

  • @msilmon123 and I heard Sam Raimi's involved too

  • @TomatoeAssassin nobody can't out act alec baldwin, lol

  • @TomatoeAssassin They've been doing that for years, at least since 2007. I hope they do.

  • @TomatoeAssassin This time? (Chuckle) Hardly... Personally, I would've preferred Timothy Dalton (007: Living Daylights' 1987) in this role. Nowadays though, he's too old for the part. Costume & makeup matched the Walter Gibson pulp covers perfectly, but... Baldwin didn't seem natural in the part. And I missed not hearing Camille St. Saen's "Oompale's Spinning Wheel" in the Jerry Goldsmith score. That's like 'The Lone Ranger' without the 'William Tell Overture.'

  • @TomatoeAssassin HE SURE IS!

That man is a theatrical genius.

  • Good movie!!!
