they were a good team. good communication and the kids were funny and showed good scottish humour. i seem to remember in the real battle the use of chariots and hillsides were used by caledonia, but it was a battle of attrition neither side won, but romans had to head home due to losses.
You know, this show is really stupid, even though the "generals" are telling the computer guys where to put the troops and who to attack, the computer guys are doing everything and have almost complete control. And as any player of any total war game would know, small things like formations, special abilities, like flaming arrows, and knowing each different unit and it's strengths and weaknesses, have a MASSIVE effect on the game.

The team did way better than the historical Caledonians. In the original battle the Romans did not even have to send in the Legions to win. All they needed was better coordination.
We didn't get a good view of the big picture in this battle; the team is losing badly but we're not really seeing why. For example, whenever they called for the archers to attack they turned out to be running away, despite us never seeing the archers get attacked in the first place.
Even when "defeat imminent" was flashing on the screen, the scorechart at the bottom showed that the Caledonians were actually slightly ahead (or only slightly behind) but it seemed like a total massacre. Eh?
thank god they gave em the sattelite view was a bit of a joke before.zooming view of enemy for a second.right plot the disposition with blocks.ooops they moved again.ARRGHH!
people are being quite harsh on the generals they are up against it big time - even if they had managed to surround Agricole had a tactical reserve to deal with an encirclement.
This, Hydraspes and Teutoberg seem like the hardest battles to win on this show.
well, in all fairness they had vastly superior numbers and a big steep hill to maximize the power of their infantry charge. They attempted to "encircle" the Romans who had a tactical reserve and so were all but impossible to flank. this should have been so easy but they got it so wrong.
@McBinary Usually when the contestants command cavalry armies do they fail more miserably imo. Dara and Chalons were extremely tough for the teams as they have no concept of horse archer armies, which to a RTW player are extremely deadly. Granted it would be a boring episode to watch the team run around the field with horse archers until they ran out of arrows, then charged at the end against depleted, exhausted infantry.
Boring to watch but it would have been a nearly perfect win.
@McBinary The hardest however imo is Cannae, without game experience or historically knowledge of how to fight it, I can say 99 times out of 100 the team would fail. Hannibal's destruction of the roman army at Cannae is one of the most brilliant tactical battles ever fought and has seldom been repeated before mechanized warfare.
Honestly even if you say get a RTW player in there or someone who knows what went down at Cannae, without perfect timing, you would still fail.
@McBinary And Watling Street. They had a terrible battle, made worse by the fact their team sucked.
This team was decent, at least they forced the Romans to even commit their reserves. The problem is they lost too many men in forcing it to happen, and while they inflicted massive losses on the Auxilleries, their lack of morale and concentration failed.
Huh they were actually pretty good, one of the best ive seen. But seriously, with a 4-way command, the need to tell some guys what you want, the odds of the battle against them...it was REALLY hard to have won. Its not the same as playing RTW.
They were so close! What a close-run fight, considering how much better the Romans were. They actually didn't do too bad compared to what happened in real life. You really have to have a perfectly-coordinated attack to break a legion
well it wasnt too badly done, it was well communicated and relitively well implemented but yeah they stretched themselves out too much tho... cant blame them tho they r noobs and r fighting the immensly strong roman legions i doubt many could do much better in their circumstances

The parents seem dejected from the loss because the daughter seemed disappointed by her plan failing.

The difference in Caledonians and Romans 'final score' is because the Caledonians ran away easier, and there were more of them to begin with.

weird. as it says "defeat imminent" the strength bars come up and the romans are a fair bit weaker

I'm guessing it's because they still had more men on the field but they were fleeing or getting cut down!

The girl needs a chill pill. STFU!
They should have put the father in charge as the general, not the little girl. She clearly has no clue and lost the battle for them all.
