  • I'LL LIVE TO DANCE ON YOUR GRAVE!

  • 4:11

Ha ha! The grandma totally pwned the dude!

  • I have a recording of the movie (somewhere o.o;; ) I haven't seen it in a long time, I'm sore that no one's uploaded this movie on here, it's a beautiful movie, and the songs are amazing =^^=

  • My grandma and "uncle" billy used to sing this on car rides.

  • We had evenings like this in old Farmington. Mom kept a spiral notebook of hoary ballads learned from Grandma, and so sang them to us at the kitchen table while the wind rattled in the rafters. This is why I'm a balladeer to this day. Burl, hope to meet you in Heaven, dear friend.

  • @wizenedgoatbeard Wonderful memory. Thanks for sharing.

  • Great video. Saw the movie when it first came out and I was just a kid. Don't make 'em like this anymore. Need to get this for the GK's. I had forgotten that Luanne Patten was in it and a lot of kid's pics back then, along with her brother Dickie(the father on the 70's series, Eight Is Enough, another good show).

  • @ALFV8 So true, they just don't make them like this anymore. Those days are gone forever. Thank God for film and that we can still enjoy them.

  • I love this!!! Very sweet movie. To bad they show crap for movies anymore. Thank God for YouTube that you can escape watching the decline of The USA for a while watching good movies and footage from the past.....

  • @sedona05 YouTube is a wonderful escape. I can find so many of memories here.

  • That record is the first rap song.

  • i was born in 95, but i grew up on disney.. its sucha big part of my life.. i wish i could go back and live back then.. so peaceful and carefree... its true, disney will never be the same again. each time i go to disneyland, and i see renovations, it makes me sad when they replace the original things to keep up with the new generation. sure, technology is handy. but not when it interferes with childhood memories. anyone who dislikes this... well. thats just sad.

  • @thecowsezshazoo It is true. Life used to be so much simplier and carefree than it is now. People could be happier with much less. I loved the Disneyland of my childhood in the 60s and 70s. I like some of the newer things but I wish they had'nt taken away some of the things that I loved there as a child. Thankfully, a lot of it still is there.

  • This was top hit stuff for those of us who were in grammar school in the late '40's. Disney's films captured like none other, the fun, imagination, and innocence that childhood was all about in those days. Then and in the movie, life without cell phones, e-books, TV, video games and such was not only possible, it was unbelievably fun. One's imagination carried the day and was cost-free and filled in the spots where toys couldn't cover..

  • @6061peb We have lost so much in our advance of technology. I am so glad I grew up in a simpler time too.

  • Bobby Driscoll makes a great Peter Pan!

  • @gould111dr I do not believe Uncle Walt is dead. He just knows he has to compete with the video game generation. A genius, that's our Uncle Walt.

  • look at Luana patten she soo pretty!

  • i'd always love to sing this with my old music teacher when i was just 7 and now im 24 and i love singing it!

  • My dad and I have always danced to Lavender Blue since before I could even walk. I'm now 30 and we still dance to it if we're at his house and it comes on my daughter's CDs. We even danced to it at my wedding. Love you Daddy!

  • @frankie3919 That is so sweet. What a wonderful moment to share with your Daddy.

  • 1948 Walt Disney's "So Dear To My Heart" Baby Goat

  • This song has the same effect on me. It has that "other world" or "once upon a time" feeling to it.

  • Listening to this makes one feel peaceful ^__^...

  • Thank you for the response, Lorene. I found this at an Ives site: The early 1940s writer McKinley Cantor introduced Ives to Carl Sandburg. "Its a satisfaction," McKinley said, "to bring together the most noted living ballad singer born in the 19th century, yourself, and the mightiest ballad singer born in the 20th century, Burl Ives." Sandburg looked up at McKinley and said, "Burl Ives is the mightiest ballad singer born in any century!" Thanks for the scenes posted!

  • @MystMoonstruck I totally agree with Carl Sandberg! Burl Ives has got to be the greatest ballad singer ever. Thanks for posting the information.

  • I'm a bit confused. Did they delete my post? I identified the man with the guitar as Burl Ives, the internationally famous folksinger. He is not that person's pastor uncle from Virginia. Ives was from Jasper County, Illinois! He became an Oscar-winning actor. I'm not sure where my post has disappeared to! I wanted to be sure that this was clarified, as Mr. Ives should be credited for his wonderful performance. I wonder where my post went!

  • @MystMoonstruck I was in the process of responding to your comment and then your comment and my reply disappeared. Thanks for posting again. Burl Ives was a legend. He was a one of a kind.

  • I loved this movie as a kid. I was a little disappointed when the video cut off. XD I wanted to keep watching, lol.

  • I grew up in the 90s, but my upbringing was similar to this. Simple, country, and lost in a beautiful past.

  • That is a rare upbringing for the 90's and of course the present. How lucky you are! It is a beautiful past of a much simpler and happier time.

  • Agreed. My uncle was the man with the guitar, he was a pastor. We lived on a farm in rural VA, but were pretty poor and I grew up most of my life without a TV. When we got one, this was one of the few videos we purchased and I really connected with it. I didn't have a sheep, but I did have a pet goat! :D

  • Wonderful memories Michael. Thank you for sharing them with me.

  • Same here, it is sad that it wiill be like 130 years when I am 87

  • I love this movie! lol

I've been searching for the Billy Boy song. I sing it to my little girl before she goes to sleep. Thanks for posting!

  • I used to sing that song when I was a little girl. I love this movie too! It is precious.

  • Thank you for posting this great clip.

    Was such a wonderful film.

  • It is a jewel of a movie that is forgotten by most people now. It has that simple quality of life that is so lost in modern day society.
