  • I saw this after my comment on your dad's tribute. My father worked on the tobacco farms in Connecticut as a young man for many years. I will forward him this video and the link to your website. Some of my favorite memories was looking at the barns as I crossed the CT River in Glastonbury every week... before they turned that farm into ANOTHER mall......

  • Very cool to see-

I have (long gone) relatives who had a tobacco farm in East Granby, too :)

  • My Grandparents tobacco farm in the Connecticut Valley grew nothing but wrapper tobacco in the 20's-50's. Thank you for watching the video.

  • cool we used to grow tobacco in south Georgia

  • Check out our website PADELLdotORG for more pictures of the farm and tobacco growing.

Anthony Padelskas grew "cigar wrapper" tobacco in the Connecticut Valley area of Connectituct, specifically East Granby CT. He and his wife Julia Puterius bought their farm on South Main Street in the early 1920's They had about 10 acres of land as well as leasing other fields. They started with horse power as well as working the fields by hand. Most of the area grew " shade grown " tobacco.
