  • I lay That Song on Clarinet :)

  • I've never heard this song before, but this is definitely a great performance. Good guitar-work, good singing. I can see why you'd sing it in Irish pubs...for obvious reasons, but also because it's a real attention-grabber.

  • This is originally a Scottish song about a lady called Lady Jane Hamilton, wife of John VI, Earl of Cassillis. The "Gypsies" were killed (except for one, who escaped) and Hamilton was imprisoned for the remainder of her life, dying in 1642. Her only crime was to fall in love and run off with a Romany Gypsy so it isnt an Irish song.

  • Cool, thanks for that info! I'll look that up.

  • but its still an irish song isnt it? i thought the scottish part of it was cos it was a scottish poem or fable or something. i may be wrong, i just didnt think the scottish made it a song

  • Cool version!

    Cx

  • Hey St. Brendan...well done!! I really like this. I'm learning this one and I've so far found yours the easiest to use. Is it Am/Em/G/Em/Am???
