These are wild birds who returned to this nest box in 2009. Their four eggs are due to hatch this week! The nest is located on a ledge of the 41st floor of the Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus, Ohio.
I remember it was this nest in my friends back yard (on the porch light) and the bird left so we took the eggs. What stupid i was, and they put them in a bag and crushed them, if i could i would just keep one and see if it survives and have it as a pet. I was only about 12 so i really didn't know what i was doing. They were blue eggs what kind of bird lays blue eggs?
A robin lays blue eggs, but so do a few other birds.
The parents can do the best job of raising a chick. When they are newborn, some baby birds are fed every 20 minutes or so. And the parents know exactly what to feed and how much.
This is a very difficult job for people to do, even in a wild bird hospital.
These Peregrine Falcons are wild birds which come back to this nest box each spring. In fact, they have returned in 2009 and Scout is incubating four eggs!

Wow! Showing my ignorance, I never knew they went into labor, or for so long, laying their eggs. She did look exhausted! But now, at last, she has two...
I had been watching on-and-off all day, but of course I missed her second egg. Thank you for posting it!! We were beginning to get nervous. Thanks again! L. in Ohio
The bird looks constipated. Bird: " Don't anyone look i'm taking a # 2! Grrr! Ahhh! Oh? It's not what I thought it was it's an egg!"

No, this is a wild bird in Columbus, Ohio. There is a nest cam and ledge cam. I simply watch and record what the cam shows. You can, too!

I didn't hear the vocalization - but that doesn't mean Orville and Scout didn't celebrate :)

do you know that birds can know that you took their eggs when they're away, and if you take them, they'll never come back to the nest, just abandon.

Yea because i remember when we came back to the backyard the bird was swooping down on us like it was about to attack.

Do Peregrine Falcons not make nests? How come it laid the eggs on rocks?
2y4life 3 years ago 2
Peregrine falcons do not build nests. They make a scrape, by moving pebbles around, to form a slight indentation for the eggs.
