mario would win the upper body strength department and sonic would win the cardio department.you know the throwing of those giant metal balls with the chain. mario trained with that with throwing bowser in the 64. sonic is just a plain good runner.

Well Sonic in the games would go about twice his length a second, and Mario would go about 1.5 times the amount of his speed a second. Not to mention Sonic can't change into Super Sonic nor Mario Fire power Mario.

Beside that, Sonic fans have Sonic for running and Mario fans have Mario for jumping. ^_^

And about speed, I think the Plumbers got further than Sonic a few years ago, most likely when Sega failed. Not to shock you but some thinks that Sonic the Hedgehog on XBOX360 is one of the worst games ever, because of the camera, which makes the gamz unplayable. Sure you can talk me about Mario is Missing or Mario's Time Machine, but these ones were not made by Nintendo.

Actually the only sonic character I like is Robotnik.

I played only one Next-gen Sonic game, and it's Shadow the Hedgehog. This game was somewhat fun, but there was WAY too many cheap deaths. You run at ultra speed, and then, you fall in a hole you don't know why.

This is why I rented it to buy SSBM...
