Well, left handed throttles on police and military bikes have been used plenty in the past, so it's not weird at all. Anyway, that wouldn't be a production mistake, it would be a factual error.

How about flagging up the fact that ace Rimmer, lands with a parachute, about a minute before Snappy lands on the guards.

Actually, he had a switch on the motorcycle foot petal that controlled the throttle on the bike. Just ask Chris Barrie. He'd tell you that.

i like this "mistakes" they are entertaining... especially that one in the end of the opening of the 1st season. Take a closer look at the ship's engine... how they cover the lightbulb :D

Kryten is an Android right? Well if he's mechanical and he's about to blow up, he's going to go blank for a second before he blows up. This was the early ninties right? Back then you couldn't make a realistic enough animation of kryten blowing up.

(They still can't do that very well.)

OK, I always knew the dummy mask came in early, it was quite obvious, but given this was made...late 90's? the technology to blow up a head without there being a jolt was practically impossible. So I can understand that mistake. It's pretty good considering!

You only see the bottom and it's for what just a few seconds. So unless you took out a magnifying glass you wouldn't notice it. It's not like Dolomite where the entire thing including the operator is visible.

Yet again, TOO MANY MIC CLIPS. And you obviously got the throttle one from the DJ Q&A clip from the "Red Dwarf A to Z" bonus feature on the Season two disc. The dummy head for Kryten was on purpose because it looks funnier. The padding in Kochanski's leg is noticeable, yes, but oh well. As has been said by mikeypb1, Red Dwarf was never about being perfect - they just did the best they could with what budget they had. Not trying to be rude, but no one really cares. Still an amazing show.

Chris Barrie's answer to shooting the gun with his throttle hand is "Ah Ha, you clearly haven't noticed the special foot throttle inboard of the brake pedal (operated by the inner right heel) which, in such eventualities, overrides the hand throttle." as can be seen on this website.
