  • your so amazing!!!! i have trying to find the sketchbook but no luck D:

  • Hey Guys,

Thank you for all the kind comments. So - the sketchbook is a Cachet sketchbook - earthbound recycled sketchbook with an ISBN # of 1-56152-416-6 and it's great paper that can take a bit of punishment. You can find it online if it's not in any local stores. My background is not in graffiti art, I always wanted to be in the Animation industry so I just dug down and tired to make it happy, luckily it did.

  • Do you have any graffiti background?

  • pause at 0:07

  • nice.

  • Wow what a sketchbook ! :D just got inspired ;D

  • ;)

  • Don't showoff.

  • What's the name of your sketch book ?

  • How on earth do you not have a single bad unfinished scribble in there! I'm lucky if i get one decent drawing in the whole book! Sure is a sketchbook to aspire to! Wonderful work!

  • just thought i had to say your art is amazing :)

  • mate, u'r awesome! really) i draw a bit myself and I love it, it's not just a hobby for me. but I must say that its hard for me sometimes. really hard, when i dont seem to "get the trick" or whatever))long hours and days, if not weeks when it doesnt get right and I see your sketchbook with not a single fucking mark))mine is like "lame, lame, lame, nice, lame, lame, nice" etc))

  • what do u use to colour ur stuff in?

  • what do you use to get the colour? if markers what type ?

  • fantastic drawings - breathtaking! thank you for sharing and being so humble :)

  • Thanks so much for this ^^* i always feel like i waste space in my sketchbooks :)

  • "How To Draw In Your Sketchbook"? wth?

just do whatever you want on it!

  • Could you maybe tell where you bought the sketch book? :) Have been looking for one for months now.. Either I am just very unlucky not being able to find one or they are very rare lol. Anyways I would be very greatful if you could tell, love your work!

  • @kyatorin i think he did it by self. You can buy paper which you like or mix few types off paper and go to some print house or xero point in your city and ask for bind this papers together and thats it. You will have your sketch book :)

  • @JaanaJ1 i think i found the sketchbook he uses so itsokei. thank you for the help anyway:-)

  • @kyatorin ...I have lot of sketches on single sheet of papers, which I wish to gather together as a book same way, by bind them, make some cover etc...:)

  • You're amazing!

From your sketches I think you'd really suit video-game character design.

  • I am really ticked off I haven't been able to find neutral color sketchbooks anywhere and I live in a big town. Loved your sketchbook, keep on!

  • i love how he pauses on a naked lady pic and says personal drawings hahaha

  • Your sketchbook is the SEX

  • WOW!!!!!!! you're AMAZIINNGGG! how much time does it take for you to draw atleast one face or animal, like the tiger?

  • Im a self taught artist and such. I want to try animation and comic panes and what the not. you got talent there. what could you give me as advice and such from a artist to another artist.

I would like your info and input sir as it will help me a great ordeal :)

*humbly nods head and bows in respect*

  • @mechaart i am amazing at drawing cartoons

  • there was a question to me like "what would you take with you if you can get one thing?" and I answered "a sketchbook" I just so love them, even more than my own works :D nice sketchbook, there are things to learn from it

  • I don't know how people see what you drew in your sketchbook ! You go through the pages to quick !

  • nice work..

  • Your sketch books are incredible.

  • do you have to go to the zoo to draw animals? u didnt draw them from photos, right?

  • @MrsPortgas,

Photos are fine, but I think being in front of the thing your concocting is pretty important. It's gives you a dimension and 3Dimentional feel for the object a bit clearly rather than using a photo. Also you can see the animals cadence or the way it moves to make your drawings feel alive and seem more real. But I do think everything has it's place and we can't all go to the zoo regularly so videos of the animals are a good source of inspiration to me as well.

  • Hey man, what do you use for white?

  • @TeamBadGuys ,

It's a PrismaColor white pencil actually. They're great. There's also white ink pens that I have found very useful lately.

    I hope that helps. Best,

    MAC

  • @Cre8tivemark Thanks for answering. I think im gonna buy one of those.

  • Shockingly good work mate. Self taught, degree level or whatever, this is still outstanding on any level!

  • what exactly is the name of that pad...i cant really find a pad with that color paper

  • i love the cartoonyness of some of the drawings! i cant wait till i get this good!

  • Is that white charcoal

  • Good Day Sir,

I would like to say that I'm appreciative of your effort to post these videos.

They inspire me from time to time (I'm an animation student - I NEED it)

Thank you for your time :)

  • You are pretty good, I could see you making it in the cartoon market.

  • You're very good! I'm very amazed! :O If you were my art teacher, I would definitely, follow you around (not in a stalkerish way, of course).

  • What pencil you used on the white parts?

  • That white color, is that a marker or a coloured pencil? Greetings from Portugal!

  • what kind of markers do you use? o.o looks awesome man!! :D

  • what did you use to add the white

  • @DaniiWayy00 just white coloured pencil

  • @DaniiWayy00;

The white is just a PrismaColor White Pencil. It's great and very easy to sculpt with or to outline something with.

    MAC

  • I actually just ordered one if those sketchbooks the other day i bought an A5 one I wanted it just so I can add white highlights. Your sketch book is amazing I love the animals

  • I did not go to an art school as I am self-taught but did travel around quite a bit to see what I could learn from different instructors at various places to formulate my own ideas after many MANY hours of working on the craft. I would say studying the fundamentals is key but try to see through all the structure and find the lifeforce or essence of the person/character/animal - this is the gesture. Build on top of this and your drawings will be more successful much much faster.

    MAC

  • @Cre8tivemark are all the rawings based on real life?

  • I just started an art institute for Animation. I'm trying to learn how to turn realism to a cartoon realism style. Any advice? Or do you know if school would teach that? Do you use references for some of your pictures such as the gorilla and rhino? I love how you portray people, they're great!

  • I love your sketchbook, you are thy king of papers. Thank you

  • WELL I'LL PICK UP YOUR BOOK SOON MAC YEAH I'M IN TO THIS ART FOR FUNNY STUFF I LIKE'' MAD'' BUT THIS IS MORE FUNNIER LOOKING THANK'S

  • @SCUBONZIES,

Thank you for the kind comment. I do love to draw some pirates. But I'm not quite sure what your ALLCAPS comment is directed at. The secrets are there to be shared which is why I created my book, The Art and Feel of Making It Real. Feel free to take a look and see if this is what you are looking for.

    Best,

    MAC

  • i got get that book draw a pirate mike and ship

  • wud u recommend pencils or markers?

  • @Tu51ndBl4d3 ,

Both have very nice opportunities. I like to use them in conjunction with each other. Pencil is a great universal thing to carry around with you, and the markers are nice to use after or first, whatever the case may be. It all depends on what you are trying to achieve.

    MAC

  • no really, dude, what paper is that, i need that sketchbook , lol

  • @atojoycesiisi23 ,

Here yout go . . . the sketchbook is a Cachet sketchbook - earthbound recycled sketchbook with an ISBN # of 1-56152-416-6 and it's great paper that can take a bit of punishment. You can find it online or it's very accessible in many art stores that I have seen but best to check online as each area is different.

    MAC

  • Do you have to put a lot of pressure with color pencils onto this sketchbook?

  • Seeing this makes me want to draw in my sketchbook too! Fantastic drawings!

  • hey mark , i really loved your work .loved the way youve explored all those different mediums in your sketchbook. i am an art student myself , and i was wondering how you got such clean drawings done on each page.i mean all those sketches look pretty finished , almost like you had planned out each page before you sketched in it. i have a sketchbook myself but it nearly aint as clean. mine has loads of doodles n rough stuff .

  • hey where did you buy that midtone sketchbook?

  • Amazing work! I just got one question: what art school do I need to go or what classes to take to learn how to draw like this? or is it just home long time practice and practice of drawing? I just wnated to know the technique ( like drawing sketches, drawing figures etc). Thank you

  • @rustor84 ,

I never went to an art school so it's not a MUST DO sort of thing. I think anyone can do it if they believe in it and want it badly. There are some great art schools and I wish I had attended but it's not necessary if you put in the work behind closed doors yourself.

    MAC

  • Just Amazing!

  • What kind of sketchbook is this? And what pencils do you use?

  • hi, what do you use as a highlighter? (that white on your sketchbook). I tried using white pencil or white pastel. but it doesn't come out as white as yours...

  • oh my god your figures are incredible!! they have so much variety! i make everyone look the same :/

  • What kind of sketchbook/paper is that and does it only come wirebound?

  • @Primape92 ,

As for the sketchbook, it's Cachet sketchbook - earthbound recycled sketchbook with an ISBN # of 1-56152-416-6 and it's great paper that can take a bit of punishment.

  • how long would it take you to fill a page with drawings?

  • @mayner17 ,

It vary's and I do not time myself. It should be an enjoyable thing otherwise it shows in the work . . . whether it's done with haste or if one's not enjoying themselves, it literally shows in the work. Have fun with it and take your time, it's time well spent in my opinion.

    AMC

  • whats the best white for those sketchbooks

  • Thanks for all the kind comments guys, much appreciated.

    Best,

    MAC

  • Awesome. Peace.

  • what markers did u use for the people? please reply!

  • @LPSrox44,

The majority of the time I use PrismaColor markers, but Tria markers are fantastic as well (and reusable as they can be refilled). Other than that, the pencil line is black PrismaColor pencil as well . . . which is a waxy feel to a pencil and slides across the surface of most papers. Both are fantastic to use together.

    MAC

  • nice rhinos! :)

  • Betty Edwards's "Drawing On the Right Side of the Brain."

    My best invest ever.

  • Hey, I am trying to be an artist and I am trying to teach myself the basics of art to have a strong foundation. Do you know any kind of books that deals with the basics of art such as shading, human anatomy, and backgrounds? please get back to me, I would great;y appreciate it. :)

  • @LoliciousXD,

Trying and being are really the same thing. Just accept it and it will give you a greater sense of pushing forward. As far as books, I would of course recommend my book, The Art and Feel of Making It Real for anyone from a beginner to a seasoned veteran. But you have to understand - Rendering, Anatomy and Backgrounds are all individual studies and considerations. Each one takes some time to feel competent in. My suggestions is to take each subject at an individual level.

  • @Cre8tivemark thank you, I love doing illustrations so Rendering and Anatomy would be where I will start. Do you have any favorite books that you used when you were learning how to draw anatomy and such? It would be a great help since books about Art aren't my forte so to speak. I will check out your book in the mean time :)

  • @Cre8tivemark Great drawing. I myself a young teen artist for drawing monsters and anime. Also what did you use? did you get them from Michel's? How long does it take to practice the drawings and stuff?

  • @Cre8tivemark I just looked up your book on Amazon: 3 used from £52.99!? FFUUUUU why such a rip off? Your style is so enchanting, so I may well buy your book - if I can find a sensible price!

  • @LoliciousXD what type of artist are you trying to be, im an art student thats just applied for animation uni, theres plenty of books out there but technically theres no right or wrong the only thing i can say is grab your self a sketchbook and fill it will life observations, and use everthing, dont make it neet, have fun with it experiment, slosh paint all over the pages, glue stuff and draw draw draw till your hands fall off then draw with your teeth,.. thats the best way to learn

  • Man this guy should be a comic book artist if he isn't one already. Great art work.

  • Sugdavid/HDibbles/biribiroudi/daanavitch,

Thank you very much for the kind comment. I appreciate it. The use of Prismacolor markers and a Prismacolor white pencil is a really helpful and useful method to state something quickly and directly when out and about doodling from life.

I'll have another sketchbook to go through very soon. I'm having it edited right now.

As for the sketchbook, it's Cachet sketchbook - earthbound recycled sketchbook with an ISBN # of 1-56152-416-6 and it's great paper that can take a bit of punishment.

    Best,

    MAC

  • How long did it take you to fill that book? There is alot of art in there!

  • Nelson,

Thank you, I appreciate your comment my man.

All my best and happy doodlin',

    MAC

  • you're a great artist!

  • Cook cool good good where did you get the sketchbook?

  • Shinsou,

Markers are a very easy medium to use on the go, also watercolor in a travel size is fantastic as well. But anything I can get my hands on is game for me. Just depends on the mood or what I am focusing on.

    Best,

    MAC

  • Really terrific sketches. about the colour, do you go back to your drawings and colour or do you pull out paint/markers and go for it? For me i'm on a train, and using ball point pen. What are some of your mediums that you like?

  • Thank you guys for the kind comments . . . .

The sketchbook is a Cachet, earthbound recycled sketchbook with an ISBN # of 1-56152-416-6 and it's great paper that can take a bit of punishment.

    Best,

    MAC

  • your sketchbook is amazing, wow, and the paper seem to be ideal to draw :D

  • What's the name of the sketchbook brand you use?

  • You are a wonderful artist and I deeply envy your skills.

    Congratulations!

  • Hi, I've stumbled upon your youtube videos via Sidebarnation. So I don't really know who you are, but your skills are really good.

I just want to ask this question. Currently I'm also doing drawing and such, and I think I've reached a certain level of quality.

Problem is that it takes me TWO WEEKS or more to get something that I'm satisfied with. The rest will be thrown out and kept as scrap paper.

That's a really slow rate. Do you have any ideas on how to overcome it?

  • Thanks for taking a look and for the kind comments. My advice would be, draw more. But don't draw one thing to death. Art/Drawing is hard and the problem is, there is no one way or "the way." So either take a break and look at another artists work and break down their process or keep drawing every day at a particular time to make it a routine and you'll see progress sooner than you think . . . I promise!

  • @wetyewruyrtsutrdhjfg Gotta love sidebar!

  • @pOiNtPuShEr Listening to those interviews can help in improving your personal art standard. At least it did for me.

  • can i ask you what brand sketchbook tht iz? n what kind of markers do u use?

  • mrArtsystick and others,

The sketchbook is a Cachet, earthbound recycled sketchbook with an ISBN # of 1-56152-416-6 and it's great paper that can take a bit of punishment with wet media or otherwise.

  • wow one of the best sketchbook i ever saw... amazing !

  • Thank you for the kind comment . . . we're all growing so I look forward to the next sketchbook!

  • Any tips when drawing people on the move? I just started and it hard as hell.

  • thats awesome I wish I could draw as well as you do.

Question: When you sit down and draw in your sketch book, do you enjoy it or does it seem like a chore?

  • @sharpeshooterz I can't speak for the Cre8tivemark but I can speak for myself and my experience with drawing is that it starts out enjoyable, but as my inner critic pops up and starts saying, 'that pose sucks, redraw it' and other such things it progressively becomes more and more like a chore the more and more my inner critic won't shut up.

However if it pays off and my drawing comes out really nice, any unpleasantness is immediately washed away from my memory and is replaced with pride.

  • I agree,

It always helps to "draw it out." Find a solution on your own and don't give up on a drawing, finish it and see how you can answer the right questions.

  • Sharpeshooterz,

Sketching is fun to do and may at times seem like a chore but it should be seen as a reward to all the other stuff we have to take care of during the day, it's the desert at the end of the day or at lunch away from our other "chores."

  • Cool, What's the name of that sketchbook you use?

  • The sketchbook is a Cachet, earthbound recycled sketchbook with an ISBN # of 1-56152-416-6 and it's great paper that can take a bit of punishment with wet media or otherwise.

  • @Cre8tivemark Thanks I'm going to get one when my old sketchbook is filled.

  • wow, you're an amazing artist!!! i seriously hope to get as good as you :)
