Great editing. Saw the phibes movies when they first came out and several times over the years. This really could be remade but they would have to do it classy, big REAL actors, not the-actor-of-the-day, stunning cinematography, update the killing methods, etc.
Yes, my life size figures of Vincent as both "Dr. Phibes" with his "Voice Revitalizer" gizmo, and as "Professor Henry Jarrod", from "House Of Wax" were on display at a museum, in his hometown of St. Louis, during the "Vincentennial". I felt very honored they requested my figures, since Vincent was such a dear friend. I also provided an original hand painted cel of "Ratigan", from "The Great Mouse Detective", which Vincent signed to me - "With every good wish, and several evil ones too!"
I find the two Dr Phibes films amazing - underneath the murder and chilling deaths lies a true love story - a man who will kill for a dead woman whom he still loves. That moment, as he sails into the River of Life, singing this song, always makes me want to shed a tear for his winning moment - you don't expect to side with the "bad guy", but in this case, it can't be helped - it's cheesy, yet somehow very touching. The innocence of an age gone by shows in these films so well.
Hello Dr. Theda here... I was feeling a bit down today... Thanks again for the Video... I am still glad that I was able to obtain the Dr. Phibes action figures for my "Cabinet of Villains"...
MY ONLY CONCERN IS THAT SOME VERY IGNORANT AMERICAN OUT THERE WOULD EVEN CONSIDER DOING A DR.PHIBES REMAKE IN THE NEAR FUTURE.VINCENT PRICE WAS NOT ONLY AN OUTSTANDING ACTOR BUT HE WAS A GENIUS AND KNEW HOW TO UTILIZE HIS TALENTS
Vincent Price was a genius when it came to acting and i love all his movies. I only regret i never got to meet him in person. I wish i had a complete collection of all his movies. There will never be a actor that portrays such fine terrors as Vincent Price. May he Rest in Peace and know his fans still love him.
This was one of Mr. Price's most memorable performances.. I truly enjoyed this movie as a small child.... This tribute is a wonderfully edited piece, with Vincent Price singing the song from Wizard of Oz.... Thanks again for Lifting my spirits when I am Down Dr, Theda
Very well done! Vincent was a dear friend, always supportive of my museum. My favorite of his characters was "Dr. Phibes", which I sculpted a life size figure, complete with his "voice revitalizer" gizmo, he loved it! He always appreciated his fans, even when one lady thought he was Boris Karloff, he tried to correct her, but ended up signing an autograph to her as Boris Karloff! As he said to me, "Am sure Boris would love this!" The "Phibes" films were unique, this was a fine tribute BRAVO!
@DUNGEONGHOULS13 That sounds wonderful... Do you have a YouTube Video of your creation ? I was able to obtain the 1/6th scale figures of Dr. Phibes several weeks ago I have been a big fan of the Doctor since I was a Small child Best wishes Dr. Theda
I enjoyed this song and video... Vincent Price was a man of many talents... unfortunatly singing was not one of them ... Dr. Phibes is one of my favorite fictional characters of all time And is one of my favorite performances by Price (see also: Theater of Blood)
@Bobzeaux I was thinking along those same lines, Bobzeaux. I would not have chosen this song if I'd been asked to --lol--but hearing it now, it seems to fit. I think it was used for the end of both Phibes films.
i like this follwo up, man! i think the dr. phibes franchise deserved a tribute of its own, and you certainly did right by it ;) great job! and good choice of music!

Anton Phibes was one of Vincent's most likable anti-heroes, and it's a darn shame that the third and last movie never was made.

How does the anthem for a lonely Kansas girl also fit so perfectly with a mangled homicidal maniac? *lol*
Bobzeaux 2 years ago
Because Phibes sings the song, I think. He either sings it in the first or second at the end of the film.
Seems like I remember something about he was supposed to sing it but they couldn't use it, because someone else had the rights to it.
